Drugs is spelled wrong and the super loud music in the middle was not necessary. Other than that it’s a good documentary. Thank you for bringing the issues to light. Be safe out there.
I was staying their around that time too! 6 years sober of meth and alcohol. It’s one day at a time. I’m glad you got sober, a lot don’t make it out alive and well. Amazing!! ❤
Living in Phoenix, it's sad as hell to realize that the broken lightbulbs guy was dead right. A lot of our homeless population would rather stay homeless than give up the drugs.
He was not saying that, he was saying that these people have unresolved mental health issues, if those would be fixed, they would not want to be homeless.
@@gokhank795 It's _extremely hard_ if not _outright impossible_ for the *overwhelming majority* of drug addicts to resolve their mental health issues without either first getting sober or simultaneously getting sober while getting proper psychiatric care. The two go hand-in-hand. Frankly, the overwhelming majority of addicts I've dealt with in life just didn't want to do the hard work involved, instead incrrectly believing they can rely on self-medicating with hard drugs to "manage their symptoms" because "those medications don't work" or they "don't like talking to counselors" or they simply don't want to participate in the available programs despite them having proven track records of working for people that are willing to do the hard work involved; and it is _very_ hard work. Many of these addicts symptoms reduce and/or resolve when they get sober _and stay sober._ Many of these people suffer from a form of mental illness called, wait for it... Substance Abuse Disorder; the first thing to do in that case, is get them sober. Imagine that... Substance Abuse _is_ *the* mental health issue. Plus, Arizona's Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) might be a pain in the ass to navigate from time to time, but they are EXCELLENT about paying for mental health services and medication. The cost of treating someone's mental illness and keeping them sober is MUCH less expensive than letting these people destroy themselves and literally everything & everyone around them. I say all of this as a former fentanyl/drug addict and sufferer of major depressive disorder, anhedonia, compulsive suicidal ideation, and a shit ton of physical health complications that very negatively affect my existence and comfort, whom has had friends die on the street of OD and even malnutrition, and others who are in prison because they chose drugs and "self medication" over getting FREE, professional help from "the man" and support from their extremely caring families.

That was rough to watch. Makes me truly understand what Aristotle meant by "The greatest pain a man can feel is to have insight into much, and power over nothing."
Interesting to me that so many homeless just totally EXPECT to be cared for, like children, everyone else is supposed to do everything while they loll around in addiction and point out to you what you should do next for them. Not understanding that so many of the people they are asking from, are barely keeping their own lives together!! They complain about rent....that they don't pay, not getting the fact that rent is high and huge and hard for us too!! That we struggle to buy groceries and do without things, and STILL drop a buck to them. I'm so tired of being seen as rich and comfy when it is not my reality at all. I face most of the same shit as they do, just choose to educate myself, be careful with any money I do have, use coupons and sales, and generally try to be self aware. But self awareness and self respect can't come to you in a government check or be provided to you by anyone but you!
Do you seriously think anyone chooses this life? Count yourself fortunate that you’ve never had to deal with mental illness or trauma alone with no one to turn to for help. The help these people need is either not available to them or they are incapable of seeking it out on their own. Drug addiction is what happens when they have to find some way to cope with their terrors or their trauma or their mental illness alone. You know there was this one homeless man that lived awhile back. He hung with the low people. The addicted, the sick, the troubled. No matter what their situation, he did not turn away or condemn a single one. He was ridiculed for who he hung out with. It angered the ‘normal’ people because he told them they should reach out and help their fellow citizens. That it was wrong to discard them like a piece of trash. They felt so self righteous when they killed him but then this happened… Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,f you did it to me.’ 41“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

It’s sad to see how many people live this way because there are lots of careless politicians that don’t do their real jobs to help them even for their own good 😔🙏
Regardless of the crappy politicians, there are tons of agencies and churches to help these folks. Most of these people don't want to put the effort into getting the help.

I love vacations here, this is my sunshine state to visit every few months, I love this place but these people need to want to help themselves first. Sending ❤ to them!
It’s sad but a lot of states in the USA are becoming shit holes.. Up to 70 % inflation on housing in one year ! The state has to create laws to prevent that of happening 😢
I moved to phoenix a year and a half ago and haven't seen that part of it. I live in north Phoenix. Thank the Lord. I pray the Lord takes care of them all.
I lived in Tempe/Phoenix from 2004 to 2013; it was alright then. It was a beautiful place. I hate to hear of all of this homelessness down that way. Its still a beautiful place despite these issues.
I worked downtown Phoenix starting 1978, there were homeless people living on the streets back then, if you tried to help them, they would stalk you, screaming profanities, exposing themselves, it was terrifying having to walk to your parking garage after working overtime. I worked downtown for 15 years; it never got any better although the number of homeless were slightly less back then.
The footage at the end of this video, displaying the disparity between homelessness and affluence, is an entirely different city, Scottsdale. It is not footage of the city of Phoenix.
I have 16 rescued cats ... breaks my heart to see those poor skinny cats & before anyone says I should feel the same way about those people ... don't say it. Keep your opinion to yourself about that b/c I don't want to hear it. I can care about what I want & I care about cats. Four of'em are in the room w/ me NOW
Help is out there for all of these individuals. 95% don’t want help. They are happy living in filth. People watching these videos are thinking these homeless people are disregarded. They are offered food and treatment. They don’t want to get clean. This goes on in Arizona, Kensington, Denver, Portland Oregon and Los Angeles. All Blue States where this shit is tolerated. It keeps getting worse. They are all sanctuary states. HELP IS OUT THERE! they are playing victim. They want everything for free and still get high on taxpayer money.
Almost EVERY comment is about how great your Doc is and the amazing soundtrack…. How FKN sad- 1 out of 10 comments actually commented on the “Issue at Hand”.. That alone scares TF out of me! I live Close to that shit hole and no matter what TF the neighboring business or homeowners try to do to help anyone homeless they do not want to leave that lifestyle! But yeah the soundtrack is cool, good job- 👏
Like come on, what do you expect? It’s a well made piece of content, so people express that they recognize this You think the problems shown in the video are going to be solved by random people that live in random places all over the world making TH-cam comments? We should be writing essays hypothesizing about tactics to battle these issues? Or reflecting on the societal issues that lead to it? All that would be well and good, but just cause people aren’t writing novels about these problems doesn’t mean they don’t recognize the reality. But it doesn’t affect them directly, so they don’t have detailed opinions to express about the roots of the problem
I left Phoenix in 2013. There was homeless people, but they didn't live like this. There's always gonna be homelessness, but why do they have to live in filth. I've been homeless, it is possible to have cleanliness outside.
as an arizonian, it's crazy seeing this places that i've been to so many times become overrun by homelessness and crime. with north mountain in the background, i see people camp out in the back alley of the neighborhood i used to live in. glad i moved out when i did. praying for everyone's safety.
lol but they can be arrested and put into long term diversion treatment for addiction. that's what needs done, and then house them in proper kind of housing for that. Plenty of em want that, but they show one or two guys on this video who don't.
Sick ass film no lie, the music fits in perfect with the vibe of this city, especially “everybody loves the sunshine” since it’s always sunny here lol thank you for showing the beauty and ugly of this place in a respectful way, that’s respect🌴❤️
We all have choices in life, and choices have consequences! Sorry but asking for gov handouts for the bad decisions an individual makes is ridiculous!! I work my freaking ass off to have what I have !!! Entitlement laziness needs to stop!!!! Be the change you want for your life!!
Its really not that simple. People react to things that happen to them in different ways. Life brings some people to their knees and they find it hard to recover. God knows, im close, but i will do my best to never give up.
I'm here in Phoenix for work and people ask me "Why do you live way out in Surprise?" lol I'm not living it this shit hole. It wasn't so bad before 2019- 2020 but now it's an absolute shit hole from downtown all the way up i17 to loop 101. These crooked politicians say they want to handle this with "compassion" but they literally round these people up and arrest them or move them whenever there is an event, like the super bowl last year or the city events.
I lived In phoenix for 5 years and the last few months I lived on the streets. There’s a visual difference In the number of ppl out on the streets between pre and post covid. My ex lost her place after covid during an eviction epidemic that started after AZ ended the covid sanctions. In my experience there was a lot of decent ppl out there and there were alot there by their own choice. The elephant In the room is that the borders right there and the feds, imo, have some agreement worked out with cartels, leaving a special culmination of abundant DIRT cheap drugs, and no one is leaving the place their plugs stays around. It was like Mad Max on meth and fetty, a wild thing to experience. God bless those ppl out there, they’re our brothers and sisters and deserve their dignity. Blame the feds fr.
Clever guy respect each over im one tough guy and this brought a tear to my eyes the cruel spite and greed of not respecting our brothers and sisters makes me ashamed to be human
Just came back from a two-week trip to Europe. Vienna has about the same population as Phoenix. I saw two homeless people in 4 days and they did not seem to be drug-addicted. I have been so I know what to look for. I saw homeless camps of multiple people here in one day. We are doing something wrong here.
All these women subjecting themselves to this. I was homeless sleeping in the rocks under bushes, living out of a backpack and I was working the whole time until I got myself out of it. In Phoenix....alone and I never had any of those problems. I have done this a couple of times. I pray for them all 🙏🙏💝
I was homeless at 18yrs old. Lived in a bush for a couple months. Fortunately, someone let me sleep on their couch eventually. I got a job, got an apartment, quit drinking, went to college. I was able to get a decent job, buy a house, get married. I am so grateful everyday! I could have made some bad choices, and I could easily have been like many of the people I see living in the streets.
Only 20% took the help when they removed the zone, the rest were content in their drug addiction and most moved to the grand canal under the 101 and 202.
Yep, dont have to work and just do drugs and shit with their SS, disability (which is exactly what most of them want). Ots betond repair- 90% of these people dont want help for the root of the problem which of course is drugs.
The mental hospital is open in the cities these days. And you don't even have to be admitted. Just walk right in. What's sad is that the everyday people you see each day on the street going to work are just one small step from what you see in this video!
I grew up in Arizona, it was an awesome place in the seventies and eighties! You didn't see very many homeless. Looking now , I wouldn't move back there! I could never have there what I have here!
That was really sad when interviewer asked what's stopping him from going to rehab rn, and dude got quiet and had to change the subject. then some ass hole comes around the corner talking about that guy right in front of him, and acting like he's got it all figured out. that situation could have gotten really ugly and the interviewer would have had a role in it
My husband moved out there to get sober off fetty and no one has heard from him in 2 years now. Last anyone knew his whereabouts was when he got arrested last October but they released him and there was no contact info. He was abusive so I don't really mind that he's out of our lives but it's still sad to think about what his life may look like right now.
Pennsylvania's been talking about what they're going to spend that money on for a year now and we haven't heard nothing they're just waiting for us to forget about it 💯💯
I used to live out there in “the zone” or w/e. Everyone just refers to it as CAS, (Central Arizona Shelter Services), because that’s the homeless shelter all the camping takes place outside of. The reason people stay there is because it’s essentially the only place in the valley where homeless individuals have access to basic services, like meals, showers, toiletries, etc. I can attest to how dangerous it is out there. Its completely lawless. Fortunately, my wife and I only ended up being homeless for about 4 months. Fortunately, through her planning and foresight, we were able to work our way out. And I’m happy to say we haven’t struggled financially in years, and our lives have taken a complete 180° turn. And it sure as hell was no thanks to the city of Phoenix.
I'm homeless myself right now. I've struggled with an alcohol problem. My situation is that I was raised right and didn't become homeless until I was 34. I can tell you from experience that the majority of homeless people are scum. Bad people. There are a few that are decent and will work and try to better themselves. Most of them I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire.
I have a house paid for and I would like to help a couple of these people but Ive been screwed over by them. Letting my dogs out and not caring..not looking for a job, stealing my stuff and having people come over out in the boonies looking for drugs. I cant put myself at risk to help people that have learned to take what they can get and watch out for number one. I would rather leave my rooms empty then worry about a fire from a meth pipe or cigarettes.
@@sharonnagle5782 - The majority. The the odds are they can't pull themselves up without help. Employers, landlords, and such are running backgrounds on people, and credit checks. Being newly sober isn't going to get those for you. It's an important factor in getting organizations to want to help you. Mentally ill face different challenges, and it is not just our homeless sufferers either. This country is self destructing. Very little moral, or sense of self worth, or belonging. There's a lot of unstable people out there that are very angry, and frustrated. "Normal" people too, but they aren't so likely to act on impulses. Nothing is going to change by doing the same thing, or accepting the same thing.
Admit closing mental hospitals was a mistake, and invest in building them back, a lot of these people are insane, and can't take care of themselves, the money is there so act accordingly...Really😮

The footage at the end of this video, displaying the disparity between homelessness and affluence, is an entirely different city, Scottsdale. It is not footage of the city of Phoenix.
Thank you, I’m glad I was not the only one that noticed this.
Poor Mark that broke my heart hearing his pain... It can all go south so fast.
I have 16 rescued cats ... breaks my heart to see those poor skinny cats & before anyone says I should feel the same way about those people ... don't say it. Keep your opinion to yourself about that b/c I don't want to hear it. I can care about what I want & I care about cats. Four of'em are in the room w/ me NOW
Ind33d😂🎉
Good. Find a low cost spay and neuter place and get them fixed if you haven't already.
Nobody cares that you’re 60 and alone so you hoard cats.
It’s a well made piece of content, so people express that they recognize this
You think the problems shown in the video are going to be solved by random people that live in random places all over the world making TH-cam comments? We should be writing essays hypothesizing about tactics to battle these issues? Or reflecting on the societal issues that lead to it?
All that would be well and good, but just cause people aren’t writing novels about these problems doesn’t mean they don’t recognize the reality. But it doesn’t affect them directly, so they don’t have detailed opinions to express about the roots of the problem
Great job on this production!! Loved the soundtrack
yall threw a king krule track in here!! great placement too. awesome doc guys!
I’m a Phoenix native. This documentary paired with the impeccable music is a work of art. This is the reality we have going on here, and nationwide.
That music's WAY too loud and the rest of it's WAY too low , how about balancing it out !
All the money in the world can't fix peoples " heart issues" or " sin issues" only Jesus Christ can , not money not Donald Trump not any politician
lol but they can be arrested and put into long term diversion treatment for addiction. that's what needs done, and then house them in proper kind of housing for that. Plenty of em want that, but they show one or two guys on this video who don't.
They forced the Old Station sub shop to close. Working in the government district is hell, its not safe for us workers
Perfect representation of phoenix, and I’m from there.
Sick ass film no lie, the music fits in perfect with the vibe of this city, especially “everybody loves the sunshine” since it’s always sunny here lol thank you for showing the beauty and ugly of this place in a respectful way, that’s respect🌴❤️
9:43 NAILED IT!!
Loving the soundtrack
All these people were someone's little boy or girl once. Heartbreaking.
Clever guy respect each over im one tough guy and this brought a tear to my eyes the cruel spite and greed of not respecting our brothers and sisters makes me ashamed to be human
Go and respect those brothers and sisters all you want mother theresa.
I love the music choices. Great editing!
Just came back from a two-week trip to Europe. Vienna has about the same population as Phoenix. I saw two homeless people in 4 days and they did not seem to be drug-addicted. I have been so I know what to look for. I saw homeless camps of multiple people here in one day. We are doing something wrong here.
P s. Your filming style and music choices are AWESOME 🎉❤
Another amazing production! The editor or editors are doing an amazing job with these dregs videos!! You have a subscriber for sure!!!
Side note the soundtrack to this film is sick!
The zone was eye opening for me. I felt the isolation and hopelessness.
😮PROPS TO THE EDITOR ❤shit here keeps getting 👏 better n better thanks.
Wow fantastic coverage and video!
The true face of America!!!
"Chris" at 16:39 just breaks my heart, the poor man.
Nice done. Heartfelt and real.
Each to his own, this is the definition of freedom. They get to do what they want. Let them be accountable for those choices.
Wow! Camping is so much fun
Same here in the bay area, sucks so bad.
Do Kensington. I'm from there
We plan on it. Would you be down to tour us a bit when we're there? If so hit us up on IG @ sixsevenstories would be nice to get local insight
2008 finally caught up with us
Exquisitely executed doco.
I'm beginning to think we're in end times😢
I have a couple of cousins who are homeless but everyone in my family who tried to help them eventually end up getting robbed by them
All these women subjecting themselves to this.
How do they eat?
Only 20% took the help when they removed the zone, the rest were content in their drug addiction and most moved to the grand canal under the 101 and 202.
Absolutely the rents and mortgages way to high ugh can’t even afford/ affordable over priced vehicles ugh
Great documentary!. You cant help people who dont want it.
A majority choose this lifestyle.
Yep, dont have to work and just do drugs and shit with their SS, disability (which is exactly what most of them want). Ots betond repair- 90% of these people dont want help for the root of the problem which of course is drugs.
Thank God saved me from drugs and alcohol ❤❤❤
That's a glimpse of HELL!!!😢
The mental hospital is open in the cities these days. And you don't even have to be admitted. Just walk right in. What's sad is that the everyday people you see each day on the street going to work are just one small step from what you see in this video!
Man...my home town is hurting
I grew up in Arizona, it was an awesome place in the seventies and eighties! You didn't see very many homeless.
Looking now , I wouldn't move back there!
I could never have there what I have here!
Because it became California Texas is next on the list
That was really sad when interviewer asked what's stopping him from going to rehab rn, and dude got quiet and had to change the subject. then some ass hole comes around the corner talking about that guy right in front of him, and acting like he's got it all figured out. that situation could have gotten really ugly and the interviewer would have had a role in it
How's that border thing working out?
I want to watch this, but the background music is so distracting. Its great content that is being covered up.
You are extremely talented, sick work 💯🙏
Apparently that whole encampment is now gone. The city demolished it and housed some of the people.
Thank the dems
How so? Or is that just your usual suspect?
@@crypticcorgi8280KATE GALLEGO, MAYOR OF PHOENIX.....
For context, i know that's not the place you think of to get sober but his aunt lives there and was going to take him to a rehab out there
I live here and see it every day, in my small way I try to be kind and help. Donations at intersections is not the solution.
i
They got rid of The Zone and now all the homeless have moved into the parks. Nice job.
Imagine turning a documentary about homeless people into a pop punk music video
How bout more jobs instead of handouts
So many do not want to work. Why should they.
Yeah riiiight! They are employable material. Not
Very sad. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to these highly complex problems. Flaxen Saxon
It’s funny when a crackhead thinks they deserve free money
Congrats to you and your wife for getting out of there. It's brutal in that area. Nice to hear you guys landed on your feet
Good for you!
CASS
Way to go!
I'm guessing you didn't cross their border illegally. In that case you'd get a place, a debit card, and free health insurance.
You can only help those that want to help themselves and are committed to doing the work!
100% agree.
That doesn't make every person with addiction and or mental illness less worthy of help.
Help is fine the 1st dozen times or so.
Wonder where the billions are going to, might check cartel Katie’s associates.
People with mental health issues need a different type of help.
I'm sorry you are struggling. If you can make it to an AA meeting, please do. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Then you need to pick yourself up just like I did
I have a house paid for and I would like to help a couple of these people but Ive been screwed over by them.
Yup.. that's why you can rescue a kitty or a dog, but people..not so much !! People are very dangerous
Do not invite these people into your life !!
@@wallybingbang4350 you are SO right. Never bring strangers into your house, stray dogs, stray cats YES...PEOPLE NO 😯

I know we're obviously two very empathetic people and we've learned the hard way ❤
I was homeless. I got off drugs, got a job. The strangest thing happened...i wasnt a victim anymore
You sound … non-melanated. Glad to hear you pulled yourself out.
I hear that LOUD and clear !!
It can’t be done by mentally ill without help. And a lot of mental and drug addicts out there.
You had and have the wherewithal to change your condition. You are a winner, keep doing better !!
Admit closing mental hospitals was a mistake, and invest in building them back, a lot of these people are insane, and can't take care of themselves, the money is there so act accordingly...Really😮
Lived at Cass in 2016, got sober and worked for CBI I 2020-2021. The mental illness and drugs have ruined generations. 😢
This is 97% due to drugs.
or just residences for such people, with minor supervision. . lol most don't need a " hospital" except maybe for crisis emergencies.
Thank you..
the mental illness could be because of the drug use
