Syama Pedersen's Astartes animation stands head and shoulders above any Games Workshop official content because of how no-nonsense and practical everything is. There is no generic voice-over or a rousing speech that everyone's heard a thousand times already. No one is stopping to pose for the trailer, the action is fast, effective, brutal and sound from the tactical viewpoint, both from the Astartes and the rebels. Pedersen's work manages to convey with every detail that the Space Marines are superbly trained superhuman soldiers, indoctrinated to fight and kill with zero hestitation. That's exactly what they are doing, and it is all that they are doing. If you compare this with the Ultramarines vs Tyranids from GW's video, it almost seems like everyone there knows they are on camera - both the Marines and the Xenos waste time staring each other down, posing with their weapons, roaring, flexing, and generally not employing the best tactical options. Given that they are supposed to be professional soldiers with hundreds of years of experience on one side, and mindless swarm of insectoid killer aliens on the other side, things like this stand out and shatter the suspension of disbelief. On the contrary, Syama Pedersen's portrayal is gritty, down-to-earth, captivating with its consistence and adherence to military realism.
The scene that captures this comment is at 245 when the heavy weapons team kicks up. Everything is there. And to put on point about the marines being brutal, two shots and the point of view is incredible
You articulate my own impression perfectly. The shots where the marine takes heavy fire from a lascannon, recognizes the threat, and drops a smoke grenade in the same movement as he takes cover to switch to his plasma weapon... just beautiful. The bit at the end where the same marine just instantly completes the neck stab he never had any intention of failing to execute the moment the psyker's shield fell is the same. Fast, efficient, deliberate, with every spent bit of effort moving towards their objective is how I expect Astartes to operate. Scene direction like this is SO much more exciting and satisfying than any amount of cartoonish posturing.
@@AdamG-ng6gl Thanks mate. Just one small point to add: Note that when the lascannon starts firing, the Marine immediately returns fire with the bolter. He fires three shots and two of them hit the lascannon emplacement, but don't penetrate the shield. Only then he drops the smoke grenade, takes cover and switches to the plasma gun. The action is so fast and superhumanly efficient that it took me several rewatches to get these details.
I’d like to imagine how good the Star Wars Sequel trilogy could have been if there were regiments with even a portion of the mechanical menace Astartes had (maybe the Knights of Ren that turned out to be jokes in the end).
The thing that really made this great is how efficient the Marines are. They are on a clock, they never stop moving forward, not for anything. Same thing when the psyker got taken, the second that psyker lost control, he got smoked in a fine display of overkill.
Like Johny said, possessed Psykers are nothing to take lightly for how much damage they can do, so rather than letting him fall to the ruinous powers and become an issue, they dispatched him right away in the most "merciful" way.
I saw this discussion somewhere else already. One guy made an argument: The Marine was not overkilling, but he was on spot. According to the Tabletop Rules, a Chaos Demon takes on average 4 hits to kill. That Marine was Ammo efficient
I hope the Amazon show is half as good as this animation. I don't think Henry can live through another dream project being ruined by things out of his control.
henry cavill is named as the executive producer, so he will have the last say in whatever is done. and we already know he is a fan of sticking to the source material
The sheer amount of attention to detail is insane At 10:26 you can see his cape recoil a bit with every bolter shot because bolter rounds explode That's amazing
agreed, everything about this animation is TOP tier. you could tell me this a sneak peak for a mega budget Hollywood product, i would totally fall for it. I will watch his career with a great interest
@@kespec Main reason he's able to pull it off is genius set- / scene-design. What I mean by that is that he primarily chose closed off spaces and corridors for majority of the scenes. This alleviates a lot of heavy duty work he would've been forced to do for backgrounds, good backgrounds take a ton of time and they generally make or break this level of animation in terms of realistic look. Not only that but this also allows him to use very intentional lighting, he gets to avoid any natural lighting that uses the sun or environment, meaning a whole lot less work for simulation and matching the light to the sun etc. The usage of dark scenes and or scenes that only carry one strong light source again allows him to hide spaces where he otherwise would need to place lots of good looking assets. A general rule of thumb for any CGI is that, the darker it is, the easier it is to make it look good because you can hide imperfections. This is very important for a 1-man job as not only are their skills stretched thin (no other artists to aid them), but also safes a toooon of time, meaning they can spend more time on polishing the stuff that has greater impact. This person is unbelievably skilled, it doesn't matter what talents you're born with. For this level of solo-work you just need to have incredible skill that's been amassed with lots, lots and lots of practice. The most jaw-dropping thing is seeing someone this skilled in visuals, be so unbelievably skilled in the audio side of things, these two do not carry overlapping skills like cgi, animation and cinematography does. The audio production is nearly flawless which is just unheard of for the amount of practice it requires to reach this level in both fields (visual and auditorial).
and from a kiwi too (new zealander) cant wait to see what he does with their financial backing. Screw all these people that say otherwise. GW see a talent when they do. Look at all the authors they have writing the lore, Dan abnett, mike lee etc they werent born from GW's butt hole. This is the prelude to a proper 40k series. At least I hope so anyway. The emperor protects brother.
@@miscnchipnelson8101 Games Workshop are tyrants and money-grubbers, and their only decent writer is Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Dan Abnett and Graham McNeill used to be good but their stuff has become very prosaic.
@@miscnchipnelson8101, I think he did that official Primaris Intercessor video similar to Iron-Man suiting up for the first time in the MCU. Said Primaris video was most probably also inspired by the Raptor video on TH-cam, which was awesome. And... Still waiting on Astartes II, which I'm betting he's expanding upon since starting with GW.
As many have pointed out, what makes this film great is not just the masterful visual storytelling and animation--it's that for perhaps the first time ever, the Space Marines are taken *seriously* . Every single piece of media that Games Workshop has released from movies to games has the Space Marines shouting battle cries about "glory, honor, for the emperor, yadda yadda", when realistically, war is much too grim to ever be as campy as that. When I was a kid, I dreamed of a film where the Space Marines got treated like ACUTAL marines, and not the glory-obsessed sycophants we see them portrayed as all the time. This is the closest we've ever got to that, I feel.
It's literally in the lore that they are super duper rare to the point that the majority of the universe don't even believe that Astartes exist And them being so rare should tell that they are basically the special forces of the special forces I mean they're literally demi Gods That's why I find GW astartes so lame because they act so cartoonish
*Agreed!* I don't know this franchise too well, but their cold, swift efficiency makes perfect sense, and it's so impactful. They don't stop. They don't waste movements. They don't flinch. When that marine was trying to get close to those telepaths, he didn't even pause to process the fact that he was being telekinetically crushed. The *_whole_* time they had him subdued, he was completely focused on finishing the knife attack. The moment he was freed, he didn't stop to pull himself together, or drop a one-liner. He just instantly finished the fatal blow he was already in the middle of executing. Now that's rare, tactical and realistic (well, for a superhuman space marine).
Imagine being able to make a fan made film in your back bedroom that is so much better than anything turned out by a multinational, multimillion pound company. Madness.
I can only assume that GW has a problem with some absolutely terrible leadership, just some “number go up” ghouls or some old nerds who refuse to admit that their vision of their universe is weaker than what the fans of it can produce. They are sitting on a goldmine but all they care about is selling more nuggets. Incredibly short sighted stupidity or overinflated ego, one of the two, or maybe both.
@@CosmicSphincter As the company has said "We are a model company. Not a game company" AKA they ONLY care about selling models. All other things are supposed to funnel in to that market.
Idk how a video with no dialog still is able to convey so much emotion. Everything the space marines do feels impactful and heavy. I love it, I hope there is a lot more stuff in the show without a ton of dialog
There is dialogue. It's just muffled by the helmets. You can hear the inquisitor tell the Astartes with white helmets to "Recall them immediately!" just after hearing the two orbs conversing. Telling them this actually breaks his concentration which is why the orb was able to possess him, causing the Astartes to euthanize him.
I always thought the small pillars in the final scene were really small or very close to the marine. But actually they're much further away and you can see the other marines being teleported in just before it cuts to end.
Unfortunately the artist was hired by GW to work on their own animations. Knowing GW lately, all they'd do is butcher it into oblivion. Sometimes the best we can do, is let it die.
All they can see is plastic sales, they don’t seem to understand how cool their universe could be and how much appeal it can have by simply expanding on different elements of it - or their past attempts lack the special sauce that their fans can access but they can’t, so the number go up ghouls won’t even try. The incredibly dumb part is that the popularity of astartes shows that it’s already there, they don’t have to do research, this animation got millions of views and made people notice 40k who would have never cared had they seen the Hasbro ass shit GW puts out. They are morons, plain and simple.
It might not be apparent to the average 40k fan but as a veteran of the British Army I can tell this guy also understands engagement ratios, ammo conservation, fire superiority, marksmanship, room clearance, and basic fire and manoeuvre. I wouldn't be surprised if he had national service in his country, some kind of connection to give him this info or maybe he's a vet volunteer. I will explain. Marksmanship - Right when the marines exit their boarding barge there is a shot inside the helmet of one of them. You can clearly hear him take a break in and out before engaging the humans. We are trained to take a long steady breath in and out then hold before firing. Engagement ratios - regular humans are like figure 11s (cardboard targets) for astartes. This is shown by how many they engage at one time and how nonchalant they are while fighting them. Later on when they fight the psykers they just happen to outnumber them 3:1. This is generally the ratio modernised militaries like to engage on. This makes sense because the psykers are on or above the astartes level. Urban combat which this ship boarding would fall into (in our world) has a ratio of 12:1 !! But Astartes are another level so we'll let them off. Ammo conservation and fire superiority - This is also demonstrated by the Manor in which they engage humans vs the psykers. When fighting....well wiping out the humans they fire in single shot, using only what they need to. When they fight the psykers who they know to be powerful, they put out hundreds of times the volume of fire than they recive. Fire superiority along with manouver tempo have been shown as key to winning fire fights in studies. Room clearance - this can bee seen when the marines are moving through corridors. The lead guy stops, smashes a door in and fires into the room at what are presumably humans. This allows the bulk of the unit to jog on past where the same sort of thing is repeated. When they are taken by suprise with the auto gun, the member cut off by it stops to deal with the threat while his squad mates carry on covering their areas and moving forward. Fire and maneuver - this is seen in the Psyker fight. Both left and right flanks are taken by two teams of 2 brothers. One even takes the high groud where it is available. Then they use a diversion to distract and suppress the enemy while a full frontal is executed but their lead member. When one flank is taken out by the pyskers the other flanking team begins moving again. You can even see marines leap froging as one empties his mag. You don't seen anything remotely this accurate in other animations.
This dude is a legend. There is so much here to digest. I truly believe this is one of the best works of fiction I've had the pleasure of watching. Short, contained but deep and of the highest technical quality.
animators are great, but what made this astounding was the modeling done and texture work. maybe I'm biased since Im a 3d modeler but the graphics were astounding.
the creator got the highest amount of recognition one could ask for, he literally got hired by Games Workshop (company who produces Warhammer) because of these animations, and that's why the original videos aren't on his TH-cam anymore, they got moved to the Warhammer Community website
@@CalSniffsMilo not sure if you know update but here it is: For those wondering what happened, Games Workshop (GW) introduced new intellectual property rules this year that completely forbid any fan-made animations or basically any community productions that use GW content. They basically told all of their most hardcore fans to delete everything they had passionately worked on for years for nothing other than the love of the hobby, purely out of a misplaced sense of greed. Astartes didn't upgrade. It was buried.
There’s so much love in this video. I started watching this when I first learned what warhammer was a few months ago, up until now where I am painting my first custom chapter. I’ve seen this video with so many varying degrees of lore knowledge, and somehow, I still manage to see new things each time. The reason this video is herald as one of the greatest representation of the universe is how masterfully crafted and directed it is from start to finish. Every inch, every second, of every moment makes it feel like a visceral warhammer universe. A lot of people point out that their favorite moment is the squad leaders flinch at the spooky entity change. Mine is him blasting the ball with the plasma pistol. Even in that last moment of “I’m being eaten by an orb” he collects himself and with his free hand pulls his sidearm. Then when it starts eating his gun, he says “fine, here’s a taste”. Blasting off his arm, i imagine he thought “aw, nuts”
only just now did i notice that the lasguns used by the gun crew that fires a rocket at the marines have accurate lasgun sfx. lasguns fire fx were originally described almost like a snapping whip, and you can hear that if you listen close. took me *THIS LONG* to hear them or even notice them-
@@TheAnimaAnimal You understand that all the Astartes are clones, right... of a dude. Most soldiers are dudes. All of these ones, on both sides wore masks, so mot sure if they were all dudes. Yes, war is a big sausage fest, lol. I'm sorry you find this revelation disturbing, though I confess, I can't see how having a few women getting blown into bits in the mix, or a set of tit armor here and there would have improved the action. You know, considering the only spoken words in the film were spoken by the warp entity. WHo could have identified as a woman, who knows?
@@TheAnimaAnimal You should check out the Adeptus Sororitas. Aka Sisters of Battle. Aka the nuns with guns. They are one of the most powerful groups in 40k. aw man, i mean, excellent upscale, but this is the terrible re-sounded version in the warhammer plus website rather than the original creator's soundtrack which was far superior
This comment will probably get lost to the tides of internet time. Although this film was so brilliantly put together I just have to comment. Ku-FUCKING-dos Syama Pederson. This must be one of the best curated fantasy sequences of all time. The quality immaculate. The attention to detail flawless. The love of the universe eternally apparent. And I just got interested in the 40k universe the other week. No need for acquired knowledge of lore to enjoy this masterclass in animated film creation. Im still getting over the fact that I forgot this level of quality is even possible anymore. Syama, you deserve a fucking medal... Edit: Forgot to add... The audio composition godly
Give a shoutout to the auditory pacing. The quiet/loud relationship of the audio sound design is like the music to a visual poem about war. One of the 100 greatest things on TH-cam...
The ORIGINAL creator of this is a man named RICHARD BOYLAN. He has a channel. He created this by himself years ago. Warhammer has since picked him up and haven't heard a peep about some type of finish to this incredible set of shorts. Fingers crossed.
This has got to be the best action pack video I've ever seen and the atmosphere is perfect. No nonsense overblown dialogue, just precision accuracy and fast-paced clear action. I've watched this 5 times in a row. I can't get enough of it.
A 120m length movie made with THIS plot and in THIS specific style would literally put the entirety of the content in Nexflix, Disney and HBO in the trash bin.
Took me a second to understand what happened to the guy with the heavy rifle that ambushed the Astartes at 2:48 _"A being that large and covered in that much metal should not be able to move that fast." ~Unknown_ 3:30 Astarte gets fired on by automatic plasma turret. 3:33 Astarte fires two shots from his bolter, which bounce off the turret; he hears it, and reacts. 3:36 Astarte uses flashbang smoke grenade (?) to obscure gunner's sight. 3:41 Astarte recalls gunner position, aims plasma pistol, and fires. 3:43 No more turret.
I asked A.I. about this chapter of Space Marine and this is what it gave me. The Space Marines depicted belong to the Retributors chapter. This chapter is a successor of the Imperial Fists and is known for its no nonsense approach to combat and the use of small, special forces style groups called "Impulsors".
This really is the best Warhammer flick ever produced. I started on the plastic crack in the early 90s and by the end of the decade it still hadn't caught on with normies. That one fan could produce a short film of such quality is incredible, no wonder they signed him up.
this is why I despise current copyright rules. Look what creative talents are out there, just see what they can do if they are allowed to and compare to that the "official products" who are so restricted by "people in suits" reading from flowcharts and lawbooks to make sure they milk every nanny and kindergarten child. They say the laws are to make sure the creators are "rewarded for their work" but the truth is that they want exclusive milking rights of the cow for a select group which often not even involves the original creators anymore. This is why we cant have good things!
The issue for me is trying to determine where the lines should be drawn between the two ends of this debate: "an artist should have exclusive rights to profit from their own work" and "an artist's work belongs to the world to enjoy". As an artist I've experienced both aspects of this and I feel both are valid points... but I've also struggled with figuring out when and where one is more valid than the other. It sucks that GW put the clamps on new Astartes works when fans have kept 40K going after all these years. But at the same time, it is their property, and the fact that they're a large company doesn't change that. Frankly, suppose their size does change the circumstances: if I had a great artistic idea and I managed to grow it into a multi-million dollar company, at what point did my art go from "I should be rewarded for my artwork" to "the art belongs to everyone"? Was it the moment I made money on it, or simply as soon as I put it out there into the world? This isn't about defending GW's actions and more about a discussion about this concept of artistic ownership, maybe even tapping into "death of the author" (albeit focused more on ultimate ownership over ultimate meaning). It sucks that a large corporation can have that kind of power over an artistic property that we all love, but the powerful using their money to control art is a tale as old as time... consider that a lot of famous Renaissance paintings were commissioned art pieces paid for and owned by the rich and powerful of their time: does it continue to be owned by the family (assuming it was passed down through the generations) or do they now belong to the world?
@@nickfifteen Unfortunately it does belong to the people with the copyright ,that's the law but the company should of had more foresight than to just shut them off and let the fans see more . They should be more open as it is free advertising for them and that is where they should of been looking at it.
Always felt a little bad for that psyker. He was doing everything right, listening in on the entities and warning the marines about their countermove and that little, tiny distraction was enough for the alien mind to slip in and break his mind.
3:07 I'll never get over that little sound delay between the bolter firing and the shell hitting at the other end of the corrider. Those little attention to details really sets this above all other 40k artwork.
9:32 are you listening I have failed brother We have all failed The astartes deny our touch You must return Break your seal Impossible we will never survive You must take the alpha
I agree, the makers of the live action need to watch and study this as a thesis in making the show. This is a tall order and if you make it right whoever you are, you will be loved by the gods!
I have watched this video like 60 times at least and I never get bored of it. It is an incredible piece of animated cinema that rivals anything out there.
They're described as being able to move so quickly that it gives people an uncanny valley feeling to see something so large move so fast. This has been the only place I've seen an astartes move accurate to that
also the detail on knife guys loadout is much appreciated, ammo count for stowed bolter rifle, bolter pistol more heavily detailed, and then the knife draw was smooth af
11:48 to 12:01 is the only 13 seconds you see where an Astartes is vulnerable and weak and for a moment one might even say, feeling sorry for himself suffering....then the sudden and instant realisation of his own weakness and SNAP, tensing of his hand in the sand and forcing himself back into a combat mind set. fucking epic..
NO words to describe how I adore this creation. Absolutely amazing, well crafted, with so much thought put into, each small detail cared for... Just product of love. It single-handedly responsible to getting me back to WH40k drooling fandom, after 10 years of not caring about it. Special thanks for making the marines in Aquilla (? I hope I'm correct, not real hardcore collecting fan) armor. For me, both from aesthetic and lore reasons, its the REAL Space Marines. Seing THAT armor depicted in probably most cool WH40k movie ever - is just a fresh water on dry soul. Thank you man! Death to primaris as idea and as helmet design!
No matter how many times I watch this, it's just amazing. My favourite little detail has always been 0:40 where the second Marine grabs the handrail above him as he turns into the boarding torpedo.
These guys are programmed for destruction, and this is one of the most extraordinary animations I've ever seen. I've watched it multiple times, and I still can't shake its impact. The armor carries such a powerful message-pure strength. There's no need for voiceover because the armor says it all. I don't even know how to express it fully; it's simply amazing!
Imagine a 6ft tall Juggernaut in full armor, weighting at least 600 pounds, hauling at full speed right at you, with such agility that would defy laws of physics since something so big and heavy shouldn't move that fast... Yeah, that would definetly terrify any non-Xeno. Amazing job
nice upscale but respect to the OG creator of Astartes. Suits that can crush metal with one step, calculated accuracy that no one can beat with unbeatable determination..Soldiers of Warhammer 40k
I've watched this a number of times, and I still notice new things. The darkness confused me the first couple of times, but I actually appreciate it because I have moments of realization from rewatching.
I love it because we get a real glimpse of Space Marine strategy and tactics. And just the brutal efficiency of it all. My favorite are the shots in space where the Astartes are approaching the rebel vessel. You can see the back of a fighter (a Thunderbolt?) flying in formation at first and then it peels off to start a diversion. As we get close to the rebel ship the same fighter fires missiles at it and you can see it fly by at very high speed from left to right. The rebel ship's top turret fires at it but misses (you can see the tracers in the distance and the tiny speck of the fighter). With the fighter wizzing by the turret gets distracted for just a second, but long enough for the boarding vessel to use its last decoy on the missiles and close the distance. Likely they would of never made it if that fighter didn't buzz the rebel ship.
Damn man. You think with incredible cinematics like this, a movie could happen in the future? Or is there maybe too much lore to condense into a movie? Idk I just can't help bit think that under the right mind, there is sooo much potential!
The guy who made these was hired by Games Workshop to make more. It's been a long time since we've heard anything, lets hope that means they're working on something with a longer format, a story and voiced characters.
well you got your answer... and it's being produced by someone who actually cares about the source material so we hopefully won't have a repeat of the witcher.
That was a freakin AWESOME video! Amazingly clear and beautifully colored. I don't know much about 40K but the style is awesome. The animation of everything looked super good. I love the way the space marine reaches back and a quick effortless, natural, almost instinctual motion pulls off the head of the guy trying to sneak up on him. Amazing work!
The way they can trudge forward with such sure force the very millisecond they are able to after an attack, as if never losing momentum... It gives me goosebumps. Fucking scary they are. He seemed to be latched like a beast with teeth locked onto it's prey, sapping it's strength and will, waiting for that split second of weakness. It was so fucking brutal! Space Marine 2 needs to hurry up and come out god dammit, I already beat Boltgun and Space Marine a few times just waiting lol. My only gripe with the first that hopefully is fixed with the sequel is the ability to wear a fucking helmet, and hear that space marine voice. At least Boltgun got that right, in superb fashion lol
You know, I think I like this version better. The audio is much poorer on the first half, but the visual quality is stunning. I'm surprised this doesn't have more views.
If you have a good sound system (2.1 preferably) or a good headset the sound engineering is awesome !!!! That deep rumble and the sharp highs and middles combined sounds are a great "treat" for your ears ... All and all this short clip is sooo good !!
the non upscaled version has better sound. this one has distortion throughout a lot of it, i assume caused by the upscaling software or some other editing or program it was ran through before being uploaded. it's not a huge difference but if you are trying to appreciate how good the sound and music direction is i suggest checking out the original.
I think this really highlights just how Fucking RELENTLESS the Astartes are, they don't stop, until they're Dead! Period. Like the Ultra marines say: "Whilst we draw breath, we stand. Whilst we stand, we fight. Whilst we fight, we prevail."
I don't know much about War Hammer except some YT videos on lore that I watch occasionally but what I do know is that you've set the standard so high that no videogame trailer or multi-million dollar Amazon project can possibly come close to this

I'm still sad Games Workshop shut down fan art, imagine how many more Patreons there would been and I would have loved to have seen Astartes film project 2 or anything Syama Pedersen would have dreamed up.
I know that it's almost cliche for me to complain about this series being discontinued, but Syama's talent is 100% being squandered by not letting him produce more with official support and it just makes me angry This short series is directly responsible for getting me interested in the franchise and spending 150$ on some fucking plastic and paint, and it hurts to see it not getting the love it deserves
Love the Astartes Animations and fan content, too bad GW is buying out all the fan animators and putting them on an NDA so they can't make anymore creations.

It’s kinda mind boggling that this was all done by ONE guy. There have been whole animation studios that haven’t been this clean.
To be fair, motivated people can achieve a lot more than unmotivated ones, just look at what ISIS achieved...
agreed, everything about this animation is TOP tier. you could tell me this a sneak peak for a mega budget Hollywood product, i would totally fall for it.

@@miscnchipnelson8101 We await what they'll do.
It's literally in the lore that they are super duper rare to the point that the majority of the universe don't even believe that Astartes exist
And them being so rare should tell that they are basically the special forces of the special forces
I mean they're literally demi Gods
That's why I find GW astartes so lame because they act so cartoonish
they literally are glory obsessed sycophantic, fanatical warroir priests, where have you been
*Agreed!* I don't know this franchise too well, but their cold, swift efficiency makes perfect sense, and it's so impactful.
My mistake. He _does_ pause just a little, but he's so quick to finish the attack that blink and you'd miss it.
well for the blood ravens i akways regarded "glory-obsessed" as fitting :D 100% with you though!

@@TWLpontus Where is the original?? Can you paste a link please? And thank you!

Blasting off his arm, i imagine he thought “aw, nuts”
only just now did i notice that the lasguns used by the gun crew that fires a rocket at the marines have accurate lasgun sfx. lasguns fire fx were originally described almost like a snapping whip, and you can hear that if you listen close. took me *THIS LONG* to hear them or even notice them-
I think he didn't blast his arm off by mistake, it was more like a last ditch effort to free himself out of the orb's pull

10:51 the writing on the hand dude, this is such an amazing upscale. seeing so many new things I never saw before
this is why I despise current copyright rules.
Most of us know this is just a upscale, but i kinda wish they had added credits for the original animator in the description.

I come back and watch this every few months, it's still the best Warhammer movie ever made!
This SERIOUSLY needs to be a playable chapter in 40k GW please!!!!
They are the Retributors. It's an Imperial Fist founding. You can find some good lore videos about them on TH-cam.
They’re an imperial fist successor, just find some rules that match em
SO COOOLLLLL gosh. we have been starving for this content. I would watch full seasons of just this with no voice acting.
As a live action series of movies, this could easily rival some of the other great franchises.
I think this really highlights just how Fucking RELENTLESS the Astartes are, they don't stop, until they're Dead! Period.
Like the Ultra marines say: "Whilst we draw breath, we stand. Whilst we stand, we fight. Whilst we fight, we prevail."
This is an amazing remaster! Looks crispy.
I don't know much about War Hammer except some YT videos on lore that I watch occasionally but what I do know is that you've set the standard so high that no videogame trailer or multi-million dollar Amazon project can possibly come close to this
Have mercy! You can’t wish them dead my friend, a step too far I say
This blue enemy must either be an ancient Xenos AI or a pair of Daemons of Tzeentch
10:40 A glimpse of Tzeentch itself.
thank you for rebalancing the audio. great work.
wow this is sick dude
imagine a future where full-dive immersive VR type technology exists and you can go into the world of warhammer 40k (as whatever you want, of course) and see stuff like this. that'd be so flip-zipping sick, dude.
agreed
3:13 was that guy trying to sneak up on the space marine with some kind of limpet charge? I don't know if that is incredibly brave or incredibly stupid.
I've seen this over 20 times., fire 🔥
I love how much can be told without using words, wish Hollywood had more of this and less exposition.
Im new to warhammer and its slowly becoming my favorite thing 🎉 with a new gsme out and a show around the corner im excited to see more also i hear the guy that did this animation actually got hired by them , hope its true, this was exquisite 👌
It's not true. He's making original content now.
I'm still sad Games Workshop shut down fan art, imagine how many more Patreons there would been and I would have loved to have seen Astartes film project 2 or anything Syama Pedersen would have dreamed up.
Gives me chills every time😅
Man, every shot can be screen captured and made into a poster. Awesome.
Extremely disappointing that GW bought out the guy that made this and have absolutely nothing to show for it years later on warhammer+
Hopefully that's because they are collecting creators for an actually good movie/show for a change.
I know that it's almost cliche for me to complain about this series being discontinued, but Syama's talent is 100% being squandered by not letting him produce more with official support and it just makes me angry
This short series is directly responsible for getting me interested in the franchise and spending 150$ on some fucking plastic and paint, and it hurts to see it not getting the love it deserves
Love the Astartes Animations and fan content, too bad GW is buying out all the fan animators and putting them on an NDA so they can't make anymore creations.
