Thank you! I was having a problem with a glass railing and this solved the problem. I had to apply the material for the panel and column and I could not do that in the line-based family so I had to do it all over again - but I solved it.
Great, but i want to know the difference between generic family and line base family for curtain wall mullion. And which one is better and function in rear project and easy to modify the profile and many thanks 😊
I think curtain wall is usually easier, it really depends on what your real project is. If you can post some examples on the shared document docs.google.com/document/d/14UDBuC-dM-GcAC8kh2MKaKFt8cScus_ZTA1t7cEvYM0/edit#heading=h.b5cis5jsfs8k we can discuss further.
Yes, you can. You need to do this: Create a new general model family, in the plan view, add an reference line from the centre, align and lock the end of the reference line onto both reference plane, add an angular dimension between one of the reference plane and the reference line, create an angle parameter. Open the post family, uncheck the Always Vertical option in the Properties, and check Work-Plan Based, load this post into the new family with the angle parameter, use Place on Work Plan option, and place it onto the horizontal work plane of the reference line, move it so it sit right on the end point. Then load this new family into the line-based family and replace the previous points, create and associate a new angle parameter. If you find it hard, here is the one with a rotation parameter: drive.google.com/file/d/1yzieNliiK0UufIhHGL_P7FXkVDx0iM5P/view?usp=drive_link
If i were to load in lets say a structural framing family and another different type of family and combine them into this line type family ...would i be able to array them together?

If you are asking about this line-based family, you can edit those post and panel family and save them as shared families, which can be scheduled in the project. 2.How do you make it a Brick family with ability to do Schedules like ,Brick Count...etc Depending on what you want to do. You can model it as a single brick family and stack it, you can model it as a curtain wall, you can model it using a pattern-based family. But I suggest you use a basic wall with a brick surface pattern. To count the brick number, you can simply create a wall tag with some formula. 3.When i select it selects the Entire Fence, Can i Divide it into sections to Schedule a Panel+1xPole. Yes, you can use the split line (SL) on either fence (new version Revit, not sure which one...) or line-based family. 4. Thank you So Much for The Quick Reply. Have a Wonderful Day. I will start applying the Advise see how far i get. Thanks again. just for the future, how does one send you pictures for you to see. maybe TH-cam has a feature i don't know of. or u mean in another application?
Yes you can. The differences are: 1. To place an Line-based family, you need to click twice to define the length. If it is a normal generic model, you only need to click once and adjust the length after. 2. Line-based family is basically a face-based family, you can place it on both work planes and any flat faces. Normal generic model can be used similar to a face-based family, the only thing you need to do is to check the Work-plane Based option and uncheck the Always Vertical in Family Category and Parameters. 3. Of course, some of the stuff only work on Line-based families, such as Split, Trim, Extend etc. similar to Lines.

if i want to rotate each posts from their base point on line, do you think I can include that parameter in this? Thanks for the many tutorials!
Yes, you can. I think so. Actually, I tried loading a structural family into a line based family and it works.
Hello from Thailand. Thank you so much for this clip.
I have a question, please. How make an array when the post is fixed length? Thank sir 🙏
Do you mean the length of each panel? I need to go back and watch the video first. There can be different methods, railing is one of them.
how is it possible to cut a line based famili with void?, it will help me a lot
Face-based family.

You can upload your image onto some website, or host them on cloud drive such as dropbox or google drive, and paste a link in comment.
between railing system or line based, which one is should be used in project?
line based look much easier.
I will probably use railing first because it is easy to get some basic dimensions, then Model in place when it becomes too hard to adjust.
And in panel length parameter u minus one ??
what happened If I don't want to use " family model line based '' , just use " generic model "

@@BINHE615 tks for your explain, I don't get it much, I'll test it tmr
Hi i m trying ..but sometime there is small gapping in between panels and post nd when i array the post it crossed the green line but it's arrayed
It looks like you miss a step: align and lock onto reference plane
And when i type the length in odd number gets error?
This is odd.
One thing sir what r u testing...with roundup ...what is the benefit of this???.thanku sir
To make sure that the actual panel width does not exceed the max. panel width.
Plus one
Why u add plus one to that array parameter
Why u add plus oneon that array parameter
All these years I've been using Revit incorrectly.
As long as we can get the work done, there is nothing wrong.
