No one doing better reviews on line, thank you Micheal for your insightfully evaluation, honesty, and integrity. I do take your opinion to the bank. Be well. Cheers.
The comment about the MT-07 being enough for the street should be said in all naked-bike/hyper-naked reviews. Also MCN, absolutely love these Neevesy reviews. I haven't watched MCN this much ever.
My husband has an FZ-07 and I've got an MT-09. Even when we trade bikes I still have a riot on that bike. Sure it's "slow", but got damn its got so much personality and rides like a much faster bike.
It's expensive but only half as expensive as some harley davidsons.. It's also faster than almost all supercars (at least in a straight line). Good value for money imo.
Sam I am i feel like you. If i had the money to get one, i would remove the wings. And honestly maybe paint the silver lining round the radiator in black instead.
HeyAddieImTojo that's an interesting idea. The more I look at the bike, the more I think that painting the radiation shrouds black or possibly replacing them with carbon fibre covers (after removing the wings) would vastly help to improve the looks. I just need to get one...
I’ve had my streetfighter V4S now a little more than 5 months , it replaced my Yamaha MT10 SP which was a great bike , I don’t do wheelies, the Yamaha had other ideas and they weren’t predictable , sometimes it would sometimes it wouldn’t and usually it would when you didn’t want it to like overtaking a car for instance. The streetfighter is totally predictable in that area just loads of forward motion exactly how I like it. Build quality is just on another level and like neevsey I just keep looking at it, fuel consumption is worse, I’ve had to buy a small petrol can on our trip up to Yorkshire later this year. I absolutely love my streetfighter in all other respects apart from no cruise control. Is it worth the money? To me yes.
How come the MV Agusta brutale 1000 isn't being compared to the V4? I guess because it's so expensive but still it's a great bike and deserves some recognition by MCN
As always a terrific real-world review. I remember you were a very big fan of the orignal Streetfighter 1098....very different animals but in terms of smiles per mile for the road, would you ever feel like you were missing out on this vs the original streetfighter?
Thank you for a very well considered review, has given me lots to think about regarding future plans, have a 1299s but that thrills me so that will be staying, but....
Saw it at Eicma. Beautiful bike...until you get to the front end; looks like Ducati got 99% done, remembered that it needed a dash, glued one on and just said, screw it, that'll do.
Interesting info @ 12:22, the cheaper options are the mad wheelie kings compared to the Streetfighter. Supernaked's are all about being a hooligan. Seems Ducati has missed that part. Great review Neevesy, always appreciate your honesty and expert opinions.
'to die for', perhaps not the greatest phrase for this activity :-). Great review and great poster bike for sure. Next up, a chart presenting the average percentage of available power used by all bikes - looks like we might as well bought that MT07 after all.....
Geez mike...I’ve got 2300 miles put up here in north East US...never been better...quiet roads less speed checks...outside of your house safest place to be...keep your gloves on at the gas pump..ride like it’s 1998..😂😂😂
Do you think the advent of all these rider aids takes away from the visceral rider experience? One of my favorite bikes was a 2001 R1 and the mechanical aspect of that bike in comparison and also my getting older and preferring a more upright style these days. I am a little put off with the ABS, ride by wire, anti wheelie and so on.
Great review! Experience says for itself. The only "slippery part" of this review is sentence about ducati build quality being better than Aprilia build quality.
Thanks very much for this update and your recent videos. I’m looking forward to getting a new v4 Tuono after having a V2 1st gen and a 1st gen Superduke. The Ducati V4 is really a bridge too far for price vs power and with bikes being even more expensive in Thailand. So my turbo modded MT09 and Tiger Sport will have to do for now!
The reason it does not wheelie is because the first 4 gears are power limited also there is a throttle body limiter set in tune only way to unlock the mental power is a tune.
Another great review, definitely you’re one of my favourite motorcycle journalists, useful in depth information told in a calming way. Don’t panic I have a wife 😉
Streetfighter's are SUPPOSED to be angry! ;-) I'm a Ducati guy but I'm pretty sure the Super Duke R is probably the right SF for someone who's looking for a street... fighter (someone like me who's too far from a track to have that 'safe' outlet for a bike that can get your license revoked in first gear)... but I still want the SFv4s. IMO Ducati is doing a nice safe thing throttling torque in 1,2, and 3rd gears... but they should have a "shenanigans" mode that dials that safety margin back for those of us who like to have a bit more lively experience.
So the wings only come into play at really high speed and your body position will probably make just as much difference and at those speeds you will by hanging on against the wind. Price: all the fancy stuff is the same as a Tuono which can be bought for £7k less and then you have a proper V4 but have to put up with switch gear made in toytown.
6:10 "A fully faired bike always looks more beautiful than a naked." Not always. That gold motor and high and tight exhaust make me weak in the knees; the Panigale is utterly pedestrian by comparison. There's considerably more "design" on display in the Streetfighter.
Hopefully if this bike is successful enough it'll encourage them to make a V2 Streetfighter. The V4 is great, but aside from the high price I still want the twin soundtrack.
The Ducati is lovely but after listening to your review I don't see me selling my MT10 to buy one. Isn't part of buying a super powerful naked that it is wheelie happy and slightly scary to ride?
Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes - The Tuono! Like your reviews so much, thank you. And if your are riding Germany, I can show you a lot more than the Schwarzwald 😜🏍
Bottom line....it sounds like Ducati wanted to have the bragging rights to “ The naked bike with the most horsepower” but they couldn’t make a bike that could HANDLE the most horsepower so they gave us “TORQUE MANAGEMENT” for the first several gears. I wonder if they “MANAGED” the torque on the Pikes Peak bike.
@@Chris-Brauch it's most refined, most powerful and mv agusta put all their weight on this bike, I tried some mv's before and ypu can speculate that the have good engineers, for example the f4 is about 25 years old and it's still not bad nowadays
This was such a good video. Outside of actually riding it, nothing comes close to the level of detail you just provided here. Amazing work. Regarding the heat issue, I heard that it's designed to shut off the rear bank of cylinders when stationary, so that it won't fry your family jewels anymore, but I'm not sure how's that going to affect the reliability on the long run. It also makes the bike sound worse. With that said, I don't think I'll say goodbye to my tuono factory for a streetfigher, I just love it too much. And it sounds so much better in my opinion.
I've always been at odds with these type bikes. I suppose if you tour a lot this would be great.... but without a windscreen... would it? I suppose I'd need to ride one long term as you do... I'm living in hypotheticals
We have a streetfighter that doesn't even wheelie.... I am a ducati guy but this just isn't working for me. I hope the panigale v4 is more fun otherwise we are better off buying 1299 or Tuono/super duke (new one)
I still love tuono compare the known Ducati chronical problems. I hope new bike will be better. whatever aprilia give us ECU option nearly close 200 hp
Halil Ertan Id say the reliability of the ducati may be better than the aprilia. Not that aprilia’s are unreliable, but the valve train on the v4 is quite finicky. Saying this as a Rsv4 owner. Valve checks are very often... it’s a garage queen. Many owners have valves out of spec every time they open up the engine even after just a few thousand miles.
Decreasing torque maps to prevent wheelies . A V4 engine which is much smoother and more civilised than the twins. A more sanitised V4 panigale for 2020 too.. Is this the Audi influence by any chance? Going to spoil the brand.
Google: "Streetfighter V4 power curve" and you'll see there's plenty of torque at higher revs. This is the only naked with a counter rotating crankshaft. Therefore it's harder to wheelie.
@@neevesybikes I thought you might be wearing those jeans with aramid layer underneath. I have a pair and they're pretty hot, it almost feels like wool.
The SFv4 is a bit odd. Can’t be as fast as the panigale, can’t be as wild on the torque and wheelie as other supernaked. Really middle of the road and not refined imo. With that money i may trade my tuono for the pani v4 instead.
