    I love the idea for each typing having subtypes, although I'd rename the 'flying' type to something like 'aerial' I feel it better fits in with the rest of the type names (it's not like the aquatic type is called the swimming type lol) also it separates it further from Pokémon terminology

      I agree. The Flying type in pokemon is weird since it's supposed to be the wind/aerial type, but their use of the term "flying" has kind of put them into a weird place for future designs. I think it would be better to focus on the more wind elemental aspect rather than "bird"

      it depends on if the typings is based on elemental or creature characteristics. thats the thing with typings is that to be different than pkmn you should think of a theming for your own. pkmn does a combination of elemental, with 'creature' typings like bug flying n dragons mixed in. alongside rock ground and steel showing a love for rocks too, or maybe more so nature with grass and poison existing too.
      but to be relavent i think id prefer a more bird like typing since its under the 'creature' typing to begin with. wind, aerial, or even bird lol

      I was thinking the same thing. I'd probably change a couple of the names to be more representative of the themes that the evolutions/further corruptions seem to be going for. Like your example, Flying to Aerial, I would change Dark to Grim, Fire to Heat, and Electric to Power. In my opinion these fit more with the idea of corruption upon the existing world and the ways in which the original types (Flora, Fauna and Construct) change.

    If you're looking for ideas on how to do type interactions, try looking at Cassette Beasts and how they do elements. They have a type chart, but instead of increased damage, attacks cause reactions that grant buffs or debuffs based on which type attacked which. For example, Fire type attacks melt Ice types and turn them into Water types, Metal attacks break through Earth types to weaken their defenses, and Plastic types absorb Electric attacks causing static that damages others on contact. It's way more interesting than just a flat damage bonus. Check it out if you haven't already!

      I wrote in my own comment but I'll add here as well.
      Something I think can be cool with the sub types is if they will act more like a quirk rather than typing. Let's say hitting for super effective deals 2X damage, hitting none effective deals 0.5X damage. EDIT: while writing this I had a tactics combat system in mind rather than the traditional turn based RPG combat system. I think mechanically it doesn't need much changing to fit traditional turn based combat.
      Construct types are specializers. Their sub types are focused around the other two types. Best described as "The right tool for the right job".
      Light will add a chance to blind Fauna and their sub types, but Flora and their sub types will have a chance to heal when hitting them.
      Electric will always shock Fauna + sub types, but Flora + sub types are immune to it.
      Fire will switch the type match up, being more effective against Flora+ while being not effective against Fauna+.
      Flora types are focused on self growth and time work in their favor. Flora must be nourished and are a menace if they take root.
      Acid reduce the defensive stats of opponents on hit, but take self damage as well.
      Bloom heal over time, but defense stats are reduced.
      Fungal increase their defense, but are slower.
      Fauna make use of the terrain better than anyone. Their more developed brain allow them to think outside the box and their flexible muscles allows to move around more effectively.
      Aquatic both deal more damage and are harder to hit while in water, but once outside the water they take twice as much damage from any hit.
      Dark are masters of sneak attack. They hit twice as hard from behind opponents or in dark areas, but are slow in the light and hit 0.5X damage from the front.
      Flying are immune to melee attacks while in the air, but projectile based attacks cause them to fall on the ground and rest for a turn.
      The apex types keep quirks if they had any and ignore the type chart. Meaning they deal and take the same amount of damage regardless of typing.

    • @infernomaster1030
      @infernomaster1030 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +37

      @@slimetank394 There's probably a middle ground that could be found. Like humans are historically pretty terrible at coming up with interesting names ("Loch Ness monster" is straight up named after the lake they found it, or how "Ra", the egyptian sun god, is literally named after the egyptian word for sun) so I think naming creatures after what they are, where they're found is very in line, and what they represent is very in line. However, I DO think that having names that are too cutesy or punny could be a problem, so names like Woewhorl cycle are perfectly ok, but names like borebark cycle feel too on the nose. These names atleast are a good start imo.

    I had an idea for two other types you could add in- Parasitic and Decay. Decay would be a typing where the enigmorph, for one reason or another, dies and the body is subsequently taken over by bacteria, fungi and/or natural processes like rust and erosion. The magic that originally invaded the creature would still be present, and thus the body still moves and possess great abilities despite what has happened to it. And then as for Parasitic type, I imagine that the enigmorph would start out as some sort of worm or insect in its stage 1, perhaps not even as a parasite type yet, which then invades the body of another, non-enigmorph creature. The parasite takes over the body of the host, and the two become intertwined giving them both a parasitic typing, and transforming the host.

    Untamed balancer here, Thinking about the evolution cycles. After initially unlocking the type, it would be really cool to be able to switch between these types mid battle especially since each form is different yet equally strong being able to switch. Between formes during tides of the battle could open up interesting strategy
    For example lets say Woewhirl is fast, Perpeektual is damaging, and Forefeather is bulky. They arent necessarily stronger than one another because they do different things. We could take this a step further by making whatever moves they have change with their form. Maybe Woewhorl is a fast disruptor with support moves that would confuse the enemy, somerhing like Taunt or Encore would do in pokemon. These move would change to powerful offensive attacks once woe whirl evolves into Perpeek, and once it evolves again into Forefeather into moves that let it recover HP and damage over time.

      Oh this is lovely! I think it would be cool. I think it would work to also get the player to form a stronger relationship with their enigmorph!
      Like, there's a certain type of pokemon player (me included) that gets very attached to just a few of the pokemon in the party of 6, even if they try to form attachment to the others. But then in battle they end up just defaulting to one and then only switching in the back one or two in the party at times when they have a really bad type matchup. They end up just feeling like third wheels. I think this which you point out + a more equal type matchup structure (which seems like what Jack is going for) would allow for a smaller party of creatures that you get even more attached to than pokemon!
      (Maybe there could be like an item that you do a quest for in the game to expand the party so that you can have the more party-members-play-style some players prefer (maybe with a tiny debuff to balance with the expanded type-matchup-ability of the bigger party? Or have the side quest take alot of effort?? Idk maybe you have an idea of how to balance a like 4 member party vs a 6 member party)

    Some thoughts:
    1) Given that the words flora and fauna come from Latin words beginning with F, you could rename constructs to Funda or Facta.
    2) Regarding the middle types, combining acid and fungal into decay/rot might make sense. Perhaps a wood type for monsters with hardened exteriors? Light might make more sense as radiation given the theming. Flying might also be quite limiting, so you could replace it with Polar, for creatures that dwell in cold mountains and bring the chilling fear of winter.

    • @abezevlag7337

      Yeah "Construct" really sticks out, I'm on team "Faveo". Favonius was a mythological figure just like Flora and Fauna, being married to the former. He was the god of the west wind so a good fit for a category that's meant to include sentient inanimate items.
      The secondary types need some work. I like that there's the recurring sets of 3s (except cosmic and spectral ugh) but they should be reworked to be more creative. I like the idea of incorporating the lore somehow like with mortal vices but there are a lot of unique ideas in the comments.

    One thing that i'd suggest, as a bullet point of the Exploration: Ability to Create a Base. something like as simple as a Outpost Camp from Pokemon Legends Arceus, or Maybe a Farm/Lab. heck, maybe even discovering and expanding a TINY pocket dimmension, that you only unlock after getting a specific Enegmorph. Or it only expands with certain ones?
    Also, if the discovery/Exploration is similiar to PLA? HELL YES! I loved PLA's exploration and Fights. not only 1v1 in the wilds, but Multiple occasionally! AND the Player ALSO having to dodge the attacks of territoral Enegmorphs? soo good.

      Expanding on this idea: its not a pocket dimension, but a wormhole back to your main NPC hub or professor. You defeat a unique Prime Enigmorph that actually seems to like humans, but was just scared. He doesn't want to fight, but he sticks around as a small mote of energy in your pocket or inside a brooch or ring or necklace. When you wish, he will pop out and create a wormhole back to a fixed point. This has three uses:
      1. Fast travel, at first only back to your home and then returning to where you left off. This gives you a chance to heal up or purchase items, though your resources to do so should be limited until a little later on in the game. Maybe returning is a bit unstable and only brings you back to the beginning of an area? Eventually the Enigmorph powers up to allow travel between all major population centers?
      2. You are able to rescue and collect NPCs to join your base camp, where they begin to offer services important to the game's progression. They can sell new item types, offer better healing services, give data on how Enigmorphs work and evolve, and restore broken items and furniture. Speaking of...
      3. Your personal base, lounge, or hideout: you purchase or find stuff as you travel that you can add to your personal quarters of some sort. At first you are limited to what you can buy, what is given as a gift or reward, or the rare functional discovery in the wild. However, once you have the appropriate NPCs, they can repair and refurbish items, even performing aesthetic changes to match your vibe (like turning a black couch red to keep with the warm tones of your lounge). You'll find broken furniture or damaged appliances here and there, and the Wormhole Enigmorph will gladly swallow it up to send back, at which point you'll go through eventually and tell the NPCs what you wish to have done (repair, reclaim parts, or sell). This can even work for story progression, like... there's a broken crank handle, but your crafting NPCs will be able to remake it if you find a couple of brass ingots and give them the broken one, or a bridge is unstable, so you send the entire broken support through and then it's vomited back out into the correct spot once they repair it.

    Okay so let's talk about typing !
    While a symmetrical Rock-Paper-Scissors type chart may seem more fair, it's incredibly flat at the end of the day. Too much symmetry makes every type feel samey while imbalanced ones reinforce the character of each type.
    I think it would be nice if each branch was built around a different role, maybe offense/defense/speed. Construct types would be the most destructive, unleashing big bursts of energy onto their foes and shredding flimsy Fauna types. Flora types would be the most sturdy, making use of natural bulk and active recovery and tanking reckless Construct types. Fae is the best type at healing status conditions. Fauna types would be the most mobile, adapting to their environment to overcome obstacles and outmaneuvering clumsy Fauna types. Daemon is the best at inflicting status conditions.
    Some more specific ludonarrative ideas :
    Construct: the offensive element. All construct types are strong against several other types and rarely get resisted. Fire can deal big damage, Electric is the fastest and Light is good at ignoring defenses. Immortal can't have its stats lowered and resists status conditions.
    Fauna: the utility element. All fauna types can inflict special statuses. Aquatic changes the terrain, Dark tricks its opponents and Flying uses evasion. Daemon debuffs enemies, negates their stat changes and inflicts status conditions.
    Flora: the defensive element. All Flora types have good resistances and few weaknesses. Acid wins the day with residual damage, Bloom regains health over time and Fungus drains its enemies. Fae buffs allies and cures status conditions.
    Overall, I feel that Fauna types were hard to come up with ideas for. Dark feels really close to Daemon actually. Acid could be called Poison instead.

      I agree. I think the typings should probably each have a different utility that will add something different to your team. There may be too few options for just weaknesses and advantages.
      For example, maybe certain Constructs can start with a certain amount of energy or add points of energy to your team each turn. They could then expend that energy to boost power, give shields, add extra attacks, or even boost another team member.
      Flora could specialize in unique status effects that slow or weaken enemies. Maybe some could also "grow" the longer they're out. Allowing them there influence to spread to more than one ally or enemy. Or they can grow by getting stronger the longer they remain active, and other Flora types could take advantage of that growth in some way when switched out
      Fauna could have a feasting ability that allows them to gain more strength or defense by sacrificing another ally. Some could even have a vampiric power that restores some health by dealing damage. Beast could also have a unique "wound" status effect that they could inflict, all fauna to buff themselves more when they attack enemies.

      personally, i'm not sure if i'd like this concept in action, it feels a little pigeonholey. i wouldn't want to be forced to only use a certain type of morph if i wanted to utilize a more offensive playstyle per se.
      this might not be too much of an issue based on how combat doesn't seem like it'll be much of a focus, but it could be something to be combatted against.
      i've noticed this type of issue with typing systems on occasion where they feel kinda restrictive and i'm not much of a fan. one of the worst feelings i've encountered (quite recently in a mobile game actually) is finding a really cool creature and being excited to use it and then going "damn it" and boxing it when i see its typing.
      i think pokemon avoids the feeling of restriction through a lot of factors, but that includes diversity within types at least to some extent. of course some pkmn types are better than others but they've been improving on the restrictiveness i believe

    One part you talked about (14:33) was about how the Coalition contested the Prime Enigmporphs by inflicting mortal vices on them. I know you mention pride, apathy, loneliness in the video. But the specific word choice of "vice" makes me think of Aristotelian Virtue Ethics, where there are 12 moral virtues (courage, temperance, generosity, magnificence, magnanimity, pride, patience, honesty, wittiness, friendliness, modesty and justice) and 5 intellectual virtues (scientific knowledge, intuition, wisdom, art/technical and prudence).
    The main goal is to have a balance the two extremes, with there being "vices" of excess and deficiency. E.g. For 'courage' there is a vice of excess of recklessness/rashness and a vice of deficiency of cowardice, so the goal is to have a balance between the two vices.
    I bring this up because the are currently 17 types ((Flora, Acid, Bloom, Fungal, Fae), (Fauna, Aquatic, Dark, Flying, Daemon), (Construct, Fire, Electric, Light, Immortal), (Cosmic and Spectral)), which aligns up to the number of virtues (12 intellectual + 5 moral).
    So maybe the gym leaders and villain team equivalents (if that is something you want) could represent one side each, e.g. the gym leaders could all be vices of excess, whereas all the villains could be vices of deficiency. And then they could each have their own playstyles, e.g. the courage-excess(rashness) could specialize in glass cannon attack creatures, whereas the deficiency(cowardice) could specialize in a more defensive team.
    Having these vices could also allow the characters to have clear character arcs e.g. the 'Modesty' excess is shyness so they could have an arc about confidence, whereas the deficiency is shamelessness, so they can have an arc about experiencing shame when they're defeated. That way it could add in an extra layer of depth to not just the characters, but the overall themes of the game. Although, it's important to note that both vices of excess and deficiency are bad - so it could also be two opposing teams instead (akin to team Magma and Aqua or something like that) - but it ultimately depends on how you'd like it to be represented within. Like, if it's better suited for the monsters themselves, you could go that direction instead - but longevity wise it may be more restrictive, so it might be better for the characters.
    The only real caveat is that it ultimately depends on the scope of the game - as this would imply there should be 34 characters or monster lines.
    But again, this is just spit-balling. I just thought it was a nice coincidence that the number of types aligns with the number of virtues (with vices of excess and deficiency), and as it's not a theme I've seen in other media (well, not something I've seen in another game - can correct me if I'm wrong), it might be a cool thing to have in the back of the mind 😅!

      I also like the idea of the explicit villains of the series being various factions of the races of the Coalition that attempt to exploit the supernatural power of enigmorphs, rather than the enigmorphs, themselves. I would also suggest if the typing of the prime enigmorphs remains exclusive, to hide them behind mini games of figuring out their one mortal trapping before they reveal themselves for any sort of combat, similar to what is done with some of the mythological creatures in the Witcher series of games.

    I have an idea! How about certain enigmorphs can be corrupted SO MUCH it gets a fourth form, like Mega Evolution, that gains these types. However, it isn’t permanent, and does a LOT of damage to the enigmorphs themselves in the process. Like the life orb item in Pokémon combined with the stat changes of Mega Evolution. That way, the Cosmic and Spectral types can still be special, but balanced enough to not break the game.

Fauna means animal, and it includes all types of animal, even arachnids and insectoids.
      The third type of monster are called Constructs, since they are based on artificially created things.

The industrial part of town could have like enigmorphs of idk feeling replaceable or of the dangers of unsafe machinery and the feeling of just getting used to seeing people get härmed in accidents around you. Maybe the hate or admiration or just 'whatever, I'll just do what they say' attitude towards the boss. And then in like the nice suburbs about a feeling of superiority, of ignorance of the people struggling around you and maybe envy of the neighbors. Then in the university part of town has the curiosity, the thought of wanting for education to expand but not getting nearly the budget for it, the feeling of knowing the theory of something that would improve lives but the helplessness of not knowing how to implement changes, the frustration when your research is dismissed or just the simple feeling of cramming for a test that is tomorrow. All of those could have monsters, I think, and they're all based on different settings! And there are so many more in a city such as that which I imagine. Like harbor, public transportation, parks, garbage dumps, hospitals, lower, middle and upper class housing, the sewers, the main commerce street, markets, the ever expanding border of the city... A thought I had while watching is... if anything from our world can become corrupted, why do certain enigmorphs show up over and over? Like, presumably there won't be just one of every enigmorph (if it's like Pokemon and many of each species - aside from legendaries - exist), so what causes some things to be more likely to become corrupted and not others? In order for there to be lots of Woewhorls it means that baby birds are particularly susceptible to corruption, for example. If there's a lack of enigmorphs based on (to pick a random example) dogs, then it means dogs are especially resistant to corruption. Why? Just something to consider, I think.

    • @renookami4651
      @renookami4651 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      There's quite a few ways to approach these ideas. Like you said "some being being reistant" or to the contrary easy to corrupt is a good idea, that can even be expanded into some exceptional beings only transforming because of their bond with humans, without natural occurences of them existing.
      It is probably similar to something like "just because some dolls becomes haunted doesn't means all dolls will become possessed by evil spirits" or convertely "just because X familly heirloom became a guardian doesn't mean all copies of that type of object can become one" and other leaps of logic that puts the focus on the bond between the natural entity, object, or concept with humans nearby.
      Cats, especially black cats, would probably have a way higher chance to be corrupted into chaotic creatures after being linked to witches for so long, and a higher number of them would be natural due to the nature of their reputation (rumors)
      In the contrary dogs and their "humanity's best friend" being based on observed facts makes creature variants way rarer but could be closer to "order" in alignment. The fact these would be rarer leading of the rumor of dogs being resistant to corruption, could itself "become true because people are content with this explaination" and making such beings ever rarer.

    But maybe Bloom could also resist or be strong against the Light subtype for Constructs.

    I love the worldbuilding you've done for Apocryphal! In terms of feedback, the cyclical metamorphosis is a great idea, but I think the fact that it necessitates each "ring" of enigmorphs to have 3 forms might be restrictive on ideas. Maybe one concept works best with only 2 forms, or maybe another could have even more! While the reasons behind the 3 cycles of the enigmorph make sense and the restriction could prove a fun challenge, I would still remain open to different possibilities in the early stages (though again I am a big fan of what was presented). The fact that a lot of the enigmorphs visually seem to be based off of the classic three stage evolution also seems a bit counterintuitive to the idea that they have the potential to be of equal strength. While enigmorphs are supposed to be mysterious, visual readability is still important and the fact that an enigmorph that appears like a little baby crow could be as powerful as the almost deific looking one is definitely a bit confusing. I absolutely adore the way types work though, genuinely a brilliant idea. In terms of effectiveness, I think having the "final stage" types be the reverse of the "first stage" types would be an interesting twist, almost representative of the altered forms undergoing metamorphosis to overcome their previous weaknesses. Keep up the awesome work! :)

    I feel like one of the best ways to keep the exploration theming throughout the journey is to make “catching” one of the enigmorphs more involved. Like you don’t just go to a route and find woewhorl, you find a visage of it, you hear of people seeing a weird bird out of the corner of their eyes, you investigate, delve and push into the world around you to try and solve what it is and where it is before attempting to capture the true form, not the wispy visage that people see from time to time. Think the lavender tower from Kanto, but there’s a symbol next to the name to indicate if you’ve found a fully formed enigmorph or just a reflection/illusion.

      @@ChespinCraft then don’t make the game about learning about every single one. Give back the player’s ability to pick and choose who interests them as a potential ally in this world. Not every person will enjoy each enigmorph, so making the push to discover them showcase to the player if this is a creature they can vibe with would be essential. If you want a prankster who enjoys little bits of thievery, that’ll be what the delve into finding the creature would be. If you want a brute who is a secret softie, then that’s what you’ll find in a different creature. I think Pokémon has tried so hard recently to make the connection between “this Pokémon is in your party” and “this Pokémon is your friend”. And personally I think the way to make creatures your friend is to give them actual personalities and behaviors outside of a text box.

    The nacent typing is so elegantly practical and simultaneously nothing like pokemon, brilliant! I was worried for a second with the harbinger typing diagram (essentially boxing all land animals into dark type) until you explained that nacent type can remain unchanged in "later" forms (even though its a cycle not a line). Something I feel like would greatly improve the ideas of exploration and collection would be a tags system. For example - if something is particularly physically strong it would have a tag to designate that, or if an Enegmotrph has the capability to fly then it would have a flying tag. These tags could effect how you can use them outside of combat like, like moving obstacles or traversing water. You could even make it so that the tags change with each form so you are encouraged to change the form from now and again.

    This is such a fun take on the monster-collecting genre, I’m excited to see more from this.       Pitches for Enigmorph type matchups;
      TL,DR: I took a quick swing at the type matchups presented in this video and tried to determine how they could match up with one another, taking into consideration how each enigmorph could corrupt into any stage but how each stage was limited to one of three types. This led me to research how each stage could present benefits into corrupting while also presenting its own risks.
      The original pitch in the video is for the main three types (Fauna (animal), Flora (vegetable), and Construct (mineral)) to be your classic type trio; fire, grass, and water. However, the new take was for each enigmorph to only have a single type that could change depending on its stage and for the ability to switch between certain available stages. Because of this, type matchups would need to be considered between the corrupted types and base types; is there a benefit to corrupting your enigmorph to a new type, or does it make sense to keep it where it is *because* of its current type. I did some flow-chart math and tried to be as thematic as I could while also trying to stay balanced. This is what I was able to find;
      Fauna: strong against Flora, Water, and Dark
      Flora: strong against Construct and Acid
      Construct: strong against Fauna, Daemon, and Cosmic
      Aquatic: strong against Acid, Flora, Flying, Construct, and Fire
      Dark: strong against Bloom, Fire, and Spectral
      Flying (I would pitch changing the name of this type to Wind or Sky): strong against Flora, Bloom, and Fungal
      Acid: strong against Construct, Bloom, Fauna, Aquatic, and Flying
      Bloom: strong against Flora, Fungal, and Electric,
      Fungal: strong against Construct, Electric, Light, and Flora
      Fire: strong against Fauna, Construct, Flora, and Fungal
      Electric: strong against Aquatic and Flying
      Light: strong against Dark, Cosmic, and Spectral
      Fae: strong against Daemon, Cosmic, and Spectral
      Immortal (this was perhaps the strangest type to consider balancing for as the name doesn’t fully convey what it’s supposed to represent): strong against Acid, Fae, and itself.
      Daemon: strong against Light, Immortal, and Cosmic (with a note that Cosmic is also strong against Daemon)
      Spectral (again, a type I could see being given to non-primal enigmorphs as certain objects could potentially be possessed and become Spectral instead of something like Construct or Immortal. Maybe it’s a type that could appear in a standard enigmorph’s corruption line instead of the standard corruption path; a Construct enigmorph could become corrupted with enough negative energy to become Spectral instead of Fire/Electric/Light or Immortal? Just a random thought that I’d throw out there): strong against Fauna, Flying, and itself.
      Cosmic (This is a type that works for being a solely legendary type. Something like how the Dragon type being something considered all powerful in the Pokémon world (before it was nerfed by Fairy). Cosmic entities may not find themselves in normal environments for one reason or another and therefore are rarer to encounter. However, their type matchups would help keep the type itself balanced if in a combat encounter): strong against Flora, Fauna, Flying, Fire, Daemon, and itself.
      I’ve also seen the suggestion of having enigmorphs capable of corrupting during a battle, thereby possibly having new types during battle. Then the strategy for something like that would be having a move with a good type matchup as well as good team makeup. You could even have some sort of implementation to have different moves based on whichever form you have? But that might be too complicated.
      This would all need to be play tested, of course, since it is just a rough draft. But this felt like it could be a good start!

    Oooh, I really like all the ideas you have going. this appeals to me on a visceral level.
    As a suggestion for stats in regards to the corruption cycle. Something that might work is to have nascent be more "even" stats, with apex have more "extreme" stats in comparison.
    So for example, a nascent would have say a speed of 50 and defense of 50, then the next form would have 60 speed, and 40 defense, and the apex would have 80 speed, 20 defense, slowly becoming more unhinged as it falls further into corruption, which can be leveraged by the player to decide if they need their monster to be more balanced or specialized.

    Here are my thoughts:
    1. Conceptually this is just straight up a homerun. I'm IN LOVE with the idea of a lovecraftian Pokémon.
    2. Exploration wise, I'm wondering if the game will take place in a city/its surroundings or if it will, like Pokémon, cover a large landmass with different biomes (mountain, desert, volcano etc.)? I don't know why, but I imagined the first option while hearing you talk! I got the feeling of a more "compact" exploration, rather than an expansive kind. Like Bloodborne, where new areas are mostly different parts of the same city.
    3. Maybe you already answered this and I missed it, because it felt implied, but not everyone knows that these creatures exist, right? Just a set few? Like how it is with curses/devils in Jujutzu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man? And if so do you think the story will lead to the broader population finding out about them, or if it will kept under wraps.
    4. Will it be possible to kill and capture the godlikes (like in Pokémon)? The concept that you could stuff a god into a ball was always a bit silly, so I'm wondering if you got any workarounds?
    And lastly: asdfghjklasdfghjk THIS LOOKS AMAZING. I looove your creature designs so much !!!!! It feels almost freeing seeing them bleed more into your style, instead of the Pokémon style. Harbinger especially. Like, I can't see it being my friend, it's terryfying looking but at the same time it just oozes charm! Interesting concept. I’m definitely excited to see how this develops in the future. I really like the sound of the fauna type extensions-they give off this wired sort of unsettling vibe like something we don’t fully understand, and I think that’s really cool. I also really like how the construct types seem to be based off of more concrete forms of energy, sort of alluding to the way in which the things we make as humans are things we feel more sure that we understand. I like the aquatic typing for the fauna types since it’s an actual scientific grouping for animals that live in water. Comparatively, flying and especially dark feel a little too vague, and since both are existing types In Pokémon games, they immediately sound less interesting. I don’t have a recommendation for the dark typing, but I think changing the name of the flying type to something like Avian type might help it feel a little more lively? I really like what you’ve done so far though. This is incredible so far and I can’t wait to see more of it. :)

    Alright, I would ask that you forgive my ranting and raving, but I rather think that fits the theme of this idea…
    Anywho, ideas for type interaction; I’ll be using the fauna section ( 19:10 ) as my main demonstration group
    Let’s take that cyclical type effectiveness and run with it as far as we can.
    Firstly, let’s keep type 1s interacting with each other: fauna > flora > construct > fauna
    Secondly, I saw an idea of a counter cycle for type 3 interactions: ie daemon > immortal > fae > daemon
    Thirdly, what if type 2s within the same catafory had a cycle of their own? Aquatic > dark > flying > aquatic
    Fourthly, let’s set up a cycle for fauna fighting itself along the lines of: type 3 > type 2 > type 1 > type 3 or in other words: daemon > dark > fauna > daemon
    Now, I’m having some issues figuring out the fifth one which would be intra-category interaction ie what happens when flying attacks fae if anything? Here’s my current cycle idea: daemon > construct > flora type 2s > daemon but this is by far my weakest idea thus far tbh
    The sixth idea I had was for the cosmic and spectral; my idea is cosmic > everything and vice versa with spectral being resistant to everything and vice versa; this works with the story idea of the cosmic primes and mortals being mutually afraid of each other, and solidifies spectral as a secondary win condition sort of typing. Spectral and cosmic would be strong against eachother though

My favorite part was the type section, its unique being how its about the creature body instead of just an elemental power. cant wait for more, hope you make a smol squid boi for me.

    First of all, incredible stuff, Jack! Very excited to be along for the ride.
    I'm echoing/summarizing some thoughts I've seen here, but what if the typings worked as such:
    Fauna -> Flora -> Construct
    then the split typings from these each formed their own cycles of effectiveness:
    Aquatic -> Dark -> Flying
    and then the final forms could have an inverse cycle
    Daemon -> Immortal -> Fae
    This gives the harbinger forms a niche reason to be the current chosen form of an enigmorph, if the player knows based on context clues they'll be fighting a lot of harbingers of their ace's same nascent type!

    Broooo~ this is just the kind of monster catching game i ever wanted! Strange creatures, mysteries, mysticism, the dark atmosphere surrounding the player, oh boi i can't wait to see the theme songs and the story! This is going to be bunkers, and i'm already having a hard time to choose in between the three "starter" enigmorphs you showed up on this video (i assume they're the "starters" equivalent).
    For suggestions i think the types and overall details of the Enygmorphs (a.k.a. the Status destribution and other statistic things RPG games have) should work similar to alchemy while the writh and the organization of the details should work like old time criminal files, let me explain: the "files" thing is basically the appearence and the way you would like at the general informations of your Enygmorphs like in other monster-catching games, but it would look and be organized like old criminal investigation files, with the statistics, battle facilities, and even some notes discribing the Enygmorphs and the opinion about the person that writh those files, and it would be cool if not all files had been writhed by the same person but rather many different researchers including you, and it could be some way to express on sign that like with stickers, drawings or by expressing the specific writher's caligrafy. Now for the alchemy thing, i think the Enygmorphs should work like quimical/alchemic solutions, having many components been their types, some even been able to be made by the humans theyselfs, or this could simply be their type afinities (like the zodiac where depending from the specific day you where born you can be from one sign but have afinity with another) that would affect like what battle abilities it could have or which would be it's type upon corrupting and that they would have a main type responsables for it's weakness and advantages. Again, just suggestions but i would love to say they happening.

    Really cool lore, mechanic ideas, and monster designs right off the bat. Since you've generously invited us to share ideas:
    1. I would absolutely love if some inspiration was taken from how Cassette Beasts does type matchups by having different matchups result in unique effects instead of just increased or decreased damage. That mechanic was an incredible evolution on type advantage and made every battle a lot more unique and engaging.
    2. Going off the idea that Enigmorphs don't necessarily get stronger as they get more corrupted and that a Nascent can potentially defeat an Apex, a fun way of executing that might be to have a more corrupt Enigmorph increase in power, but at the detriment of new/increased weaknesses. That would tie in nicely with how Apex Enigmorphs tend to become more humanlike and the lore that the Prime Enigmorphs were weakened when they were introduced to mortal vices.
    3. Since Enigmorphs are influenced by their interactions with humans, it might be fun if there was a mechanic for their temperament and how it could be affected by the player through gameplay. Stuff like how often the player heals them or leaves them at low health, the rate that they use attack or defense moves, etc. Maybe that could tie in with the above idea of Apex Enigmorphs gaining weaknesses as they become more humanlike, since their negative personality traits become amplified and it changes their behavior in combat. Like, they can become so aggressive there's a chance they ignore your commands and attack recklessly instead.
    Good luck on this project!

    Absolutely fantastic concept! I've been wanting to run a monster collection-based TTRPG for a while now, and I think this world could fit it quite well! Placing emphasis on discovery, collection and lore, while still having the survival aspect of combat present *chef's kiss*

    This is exactly the sort of project I want to see. I like Pokemon but one big problem that the series is always had is that it's very much geared exclusively for more juvenile audience, and something like this can very much be on the mature side and get away with it.
