the sandwich sounds wonderful!!! my mother is Alsatian and we make this cumber salad - no sugar -we cut the cucumber in half and seed if necessary. -we then slice the cucumbers like you did- we then put them in a sieve on top of a plate add salt and mix. wait 2o min to half hour. then we squeeze with our hands and then a towel - not dry. we make a vinaigrette -with apple cider vinegar, oil, diced red onion or thinly sliced red onion, salt pepper - dijon mustard - chopped fresh parsley and mix well - put on cucumber , mix and then let sit in fridge for 10 - 15 minutes. serve.
Nice! A must with the meatballs. The original recipe is: - 1 fresh thinly sliced cucumber. - 3 (1 ml) measuring spoons of salt. - 2 tbsp of Ättika (white vinegar) 12%. - 100 ml of water. - 2 tbsp of sugar. - 0.5 (1 ml) measuring spoon of white pepper. - 2 tbsp of chopped parsily or dill. You find it in basically every Swedish cook book there is.
We were selling it in our Butik, but I've seen it at Wholefoods it's also an easier butter to digest because it has less fat and is lower in lactose than milk butter.
