    This was some insane footage and snowboarding! You killed it man! I still can’t decide between the MM and the BSOD. It’s going to be my only board, but I need to make sure I outpace all my friends when we bomb blues. But still good at diamonds and double diamonds.

      Thanks Spencer! It feels like the BSOD wants to go faster on groomers for me, but you really can't go wrong with either. They're both two of my favorite boards

    Hi! Great review! My only hesitation has been about riding it switch and cutting through rougher terrain which you talked about. Would you say that the super DOA would be better for that for anywhere outside of deep powder?

    • @SearchofSnowboarding
      @SearchofSnowboarding  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because the Mega Merc is only set back 0.5", you really wouldn't feel a difference riding switch on groomers between this and the Super DOA

    • @botondbeno3112
      @botondbeno3112 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your reply. One last question :) Would you say that the super DOA would be more nimble and quicker edge to edge? 158 SDOA vs 159 Mega Merc?

    • @keithskoglund10
      @keithskoglund10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve rode the super doa for a few seasons. It’s most definitely not good in powder, but destroys everything else. Incredible board, just requires technical riding 24/7 but rewards you for it.

    Question: I’m going to Japan in two weeks, I’m bringing my Korua Dart and either the MM or my Korua Otto (much more playful and forgiving)….would you trust in the deep as one of two boards?? Seriously one of my favorite boards. I just sized up to a 160W from a 158W for more stability on jumps/landings.

    • @SearchofSnowboarding

    I am not sure which snowboard to pick out of these three:
    Capita Mega Merc
    Capita BSOD
    K2 Alchemist
    I am an expert rider with the following riding styles:
    - bomb down groomer going at high speeds (very rarely paired with a little indie grab or so)
    - carve deep in mid to big turns at high speeds
    - when conditions allow go off piste in powder, or off piste besides groomer inbetween treues/through wood
    (very rarely doing little tricks, 180’s and switches); but finally it must be considered that these perfect pow days become more and more rare -> then it’s left to bombing groomers
    - After half day riding groomers and piste usually get messy and bumpy so the Board should handle crud and chunder like a charm.
    Do you have any final advise?
    THX,
    Andi

    What’s the profile on the mega merc? I thought camber boards were supposed to nose dive in pow but you seemed to be ripping it up just fine

    • @SearchofSnowboarding
      @SearchofSnowboarding  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Traditional camber throughout with a little bit of rocker in the nose. Camber boards shouldn't nose dive in powder, they can be harder to ride pow though if you are not used to it.

    Hi there, I'm 5'9" / 158 pounds and been riding the 2019/2020 Mercury size 157cm mostly in Hokkaido so powder and groomers. Don't really go much in the park. Would you recommend the Mega Merc in 157cm or 155cm since it may be more aggressive than my old Mercury? Or is it pretty similar? Thank you very much!

    How much more difficult is the mega merc going to be vs the Merc? I've read the effective edge on the Merc is a bit wonky now and you get a 'catchy' or hooky feeling when going slow. Experience this on the Mega at all?

    I bought a MM 158W this year. Live on MN, where our typical snow is hard pack, ice, etc. It's terrible on hard snow. Flat basing and turn initiation is like walking a tight rope without a net. Full tilt, fast, jumping edge to edge its powerful and unpredictable. Not real fun to ride around here. This is the least desirable board I've ruden here. Since the early 90's, tons of boards, this one needs to go. I have many full camber boards bigger than this, and ride with great success. It's made for fast deep snow conditions.

      @SearchofSnowboarding  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@fasdglkads The way I ride I really prefer a camber board, it's more stable for me and allows me to charge harder. I've had times on hybrid boards where I've felt squirrely. I also liked having a stiffer board with the Mega Merc

    • @hazmatite
      @hazmatite ปีที่แล้ว

      what did you get? i have ridden both. i prefer the GO for carving, especially harder/icier conditions and I think it would be better for pow. But the MM has that flexy, buttery twin vibe. And lots of pop! Both are great boards, just different.
