LG washing machine F1222TD turning on ok, but start button and some others not responding. Programme Select dial and a couple of other buttons work ok.
I had the same issue with my machine. Initially I thought that there wd be a minor issue which might subside by itself. But I had to go through various fora to find the solution. Most of the sites were not good enough to help me out with the solution.Finally, I did the following : 1. unplugged the machine 2. removed the top cover 3.removed the front panel that has switches and controls 4. Unscrewed the entire logic board from the plastic hub 5. Then, separated the Front PCB which as all the LED and switches from the logic panel 6. There I found out that some of the tracks were bad due to water seepage 7. I rubbed those tracks and checked them for a continuity with the help of a multi meter 8. upon ensuring the continuity in the tracks, I replaced the panel and IT WORKED Hope that if you guys have basic technical knowhow, you wd be able to mend the machine. And for those, who are not that technical may get aware that they do not have to be fooled by the company guy who might over charge them for a little issue. Thanks for reading. Cheers!

@@ch.sowjanyasowji4895 where do you stay? If in Delhi - you can visit turakman Gate area where you can get the logic panel boards in the range of thousand rupees. The machines which get rusted and decomposed arrive at these kabadi walas where you can get 100 percent working logic boards. Good luck
Had exactly the same problem, start button did not work, opened the top( two screws at the back) disconnected and connected all plugs inside which are in the front panel and it works again💪😎
I had the same issue for months and technician couldn't identify the issue. The solution is simple. The bottom row, 3 buttons share the same negative. Also this line connect to the main chip pin 1. Check this line to the pin 1 with multimeter. Mostly the pcb track will be corroded. Use jumper cable or re-track the pcb should solve the issue.
@daniel equere I am not proficient in explaining PCB's but will try. The jog dial selector led (quick wash, bulky,s rinse & spin ) in my machine is connected to the program (start/pause) button. If you can back trace the circuit (start/pause) button it will lead to the main IC pin. Try to do a continuity test from the micro switch to the IC pin. It should offer 0 resistance. If not mostly the LED mounted in that path is the culprit. Solution is bridge those led with a copper wire and test. The pcb traces are of very poor quality with no environmental protection. It is designed to fail. When you tried to solder copper pads will lift from the board. Another failure area is the drum spider arm. I have replaced with after market stainless-steel spider. Its all working good now. No need of replacement machine atleast for few years
this issue can fix 100% .this problem occurs starting from defect led bulbs.get multimeter and check all leds and diodes forward bias and reverse bias, find the problem and replace new one

Same issue - but ours won't turn on all the time. Very unpredictable - ordered new machine, and then the old one started working again day before delivery of new one!? I'm going to remove the front panel to check connections. The screws to do this are located where the powder dispenser is, remove drawer and you'll see 2 screws. This enables the whole front panel to be lifted off.
I would suggest a sledgehammer, which start in price from $20 depending on the size you're after. By all accounts and other people's reviews they tend to do the job pretty well. take care

I had the same issue. Checked the drainage - not clogged. I removed the top cover by unscrewing two screws on the upper back left & right, then sliding it backwards. I disconnected and reconnected all the jacks I could see there, and boom - the washing machine's working again properly.
Ok here is the solution it's mean the water went inside the start button try to use hairdryer up on this button that the hot air should go inside the button for 5 minutes keep use it and after turn of machine for 2 minutes and then start hopefully will work it.
I had same problem, opened up the drainage flap ( front, bottom, right hand side) and was full of water, possible blockage but worked fine after I emptied it. P.s get a towel ready before opening!!!
the problem is the moisture. moisture makes problem to pcb board. must always the washing machine be covered when you are ...working with water in the same room (bathing e.t.c.)

I took the top panel apart, shook the wires (I was pissed off) from the top left connector by pressing the start button !! the washing cycle started, but there was a discontinuous beep (poor contact due to humidity ?? !!); I put a blanket on top of the machine to heat and dry everything, then no more beeps !!!! to this day everything works correctly as on the first day of purchase !!!! it was a fluke, I don't know if it will work for someone else, but for me it did.

Solved! I had this exact same problem on a newer version of this unit at the apartments I manage. It was just a stuck button! As I was pressing buttons and just trying to get things to work (and waiting on hold with LG) I noticed that the add garments button would not depress. I fiddled with it until I got it back in line so that I could depress it and it fixed the problem! The circuit board behind the buttons may just be getting slightly displaced when this happens.

why the so many dislikes, the door was shut fine, and the machine will still start with the door open anyway, obviously check all connections in the diplay board are in place, if they are, check the buttons them selfs. if they are ok, check the board, its likely the option board would need to be replaced

i had the similar issue on 6th year, this is because of door lock sensor. clean the locking lever area, close the door gently, if not, call the authorized service center and rightly mention the issue to avoid major expenses.

Hi there. sorry guys for all those comments but there seems to be a standard problem with LG because we are experiencing the same problem with a similar LG direct drive model = F1056QDP5 So we presume that the contacts must have corroded over a 5 year period of time Funny thing - the engine has 10 years warranty but the contacts make it only half the life span ;-) Any ideas how to open the front in order to check and refurbish the contacts? Prashila Feser i know you wrote it a while ago but remove detergent box you will see two screws there and behind the machine where the top lid is you will see two or even more screws undo those and you can take out panel.
Before you remove front control panel, you need to unscrew two screws in the upper right and left side of the back of the machine. You need to take out the upper cover of the machine first, so unscrew those two screws, then push the top cover to the back. This will give you room to take out the front panel. Then unscrew the detergent screws (two). Now it's easier to remove the front control panel.
ok i use to test all the displace bulb and chance the blond once and it will work for about three or more day and then stop again. just about 30% work well. the bulb can be lighting but has blond use a multimeter on continuity and test. it light deeply when it ok.
