    I bought this same model after watching your video! For my mid range f class rifle. I did a little more research prior to purchasing & I even went with the new one piece scope mount that you talked about in your video & will be replacing all of my scope mounts now! I love the scope! Very happy with it! My first Trijicon , I’ve always been a big NF user & just accepted the high price! My only con? Was my limited knowledge with Trijicon & the limited factory directions to overcome the windage stop limiting pin? I had to call Trijicon tech dept. a minor inconvenience to solve? A better user manual in the box with the scope would’ve solved this! In all this is a very very good scope as you stated for the price point!

    Installed this scope on my Bergara HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor. Zero'd at my range on Friday and took it out into the desert on Saturday at sunrise to beat the central Arizona mountain winds. Shooting from a bipod at a 10" round steel plate at 500 yards. First shot hit followed by 9 more. Love the clarity and the wide field of view. Shot mostly at 15 power but did bring it up to 40 power. No shadowing whatsoever. This is going to be my starter F class set up.

    Bought my ten mile after seeing you mount yours. I went with the mrad (all other scopes are mrad) since it came in .05 clicks. If it wasn’t for that i would have had to take the jump to MOA. You are spot on about your review. It did take me a few minutes to find out why I couldn’t get more than 3 mil on the windage. Could have used that part a few weeks ago. Happy with the choice but am curious about the sightron. looking forward to that review. Thanks John

    I have the AccuPower 5-50x56.
    It's a beast, clarity and brightness even at super close ranges. Not only does it look good long range but all amazing at 100 yards for benchrest.
    The Accupower came with a long sunshade, other then that I think they are the same scope.

    Nice scope. My other hobby is astronomy and there we use green laser pointers when we are showing people objects. The red lasers do not provide enough of a visible beam to really see. Our eyes have significantly more green receptors and the beam really pops out at night. I don't mess around with F-Class, but there are a few times I've really appreciated a lit reticle, since seeing the dot was nearly impossible. We were in a match at a covered range and we shot right through a very dark deluge. Without a lit reticle I would not have been able to see any part of my reticle inside the aiming black.

    I gotta say Trijicon makes some insanely great glass... I've looked through a bunch of them and honestly for the money it's a phenomenally good option. I know you mentioned you were getting that white hazy picture on one of your optics shooting early morning so I'm assuming yall were looking into the sun but I have some extremely nice optics that struggle with that same as mid tier optics. To date I haven't figured out how to get around that even sun shades really don't cut it. Cool optic and great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the white haze can be seen looking into the sun with a number of scopes but for some reason the coatings on some seem to be worse at this that others (even when those coatings make them better glass under all other conditions). My Leupold MK5HD was amazing looking at angles into the sun as well compared to most.

    • @DanielBoone337
      @DanielBoone337 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FClassJohn the Leupold Mark5HD's are sweet I have 2 and you're 100% correct... I'm a big fan of most of Leupold's optics they just tend to always be a good bang for the buck. I've owned or still own a couple of Kahles, Nightforce, even Vortex, Sig, and Zeiss's optics that I really liked as well... I do a ton of hunting, shoot long rang for fun and tinker with some local competitions but I enjoy hunting and shooting long range the most there's just something about ringing steel at a 1000+ yards that's really satisfying... LOL Take care brother!!!

      I’ve heard great things about Valdada as well but for some reasons they’re not as popular in f class. A few friends of mine have tried them (I don’t remember which ones) and liked them but ended up using them in the ELR rigs because they didn’t like them for f class but I have no idea why. I’ve gotten to look through a couple but never shot with them. If I get the chance I’ll definitely test one out.

    Hi John. Thank you for the review I always enjoy your content, it is practical and to the point. I have always enjoyed Trijicon I think they make great optics no surprise there. It was interesting to hear how many different scopes you have used throughout the years. I'm relatively new to the long range game so it is always helpful to hear from the pros. I wold love to do an F Class match but I haven't really found any out here in PA. That leaves me with long range precision steel matches as well as Ground Hog long range matches. I do Have a question however have you ever looked through or tried any Valdada IOR scopes? I now have 3 and I must say they are amazing I especially enjoy their 12-52X56 SFP 40mm tube with 1/8 MOA adjustments. as well as their 12-36x44 SFP 34mm tube also with 1/8 MOA adjustments. Just curious. Thank you.

A comparison of 10x, 20, 30, 40, 50x would be so helpful for people like me that have no access to see the difference. I really like a lot of the 5-25 options out there, but id like to see how much better a target view is at say 40 and 50. Id definitely donate for such a video

    Optical performance measurements for optics are calibrated in legitimate shops. Optical performance parameters like wavefront, transmission, circle of confusion, color corrections, etc., are not subjective, but are calibrated quantities. They seem to never report the measurements or never take them at all. Not sure why that is, but it opens the door for commercial marketing folks to muddy up the topics. Just wanted you to know optical performance is not subjective even if individual people have preferences that may not correlate with the numbers once the majority of the values are high enough and nothing else is way out of balance. What can be subjective, is the combination of lots of complicated design features that one user may prefer over another, especially when the trade offs might conflict. Things that increase performance and add weight, could cause one user to prefer one over the other, but the values are not subjective at all. Happy New Year!!!

    • @JacksonMalcolm
      @JacksonMalcolm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I spoke to a trijicon rep a few years ago I was told that they got their glass from the same place as NF, that only tells a small part of the story because glass quality, coatings, lens order/configuration etc can all be specd out. NF has their glass sent all over the place, from Germany to Japan to the US for assembly.

  • @atom-by5ur
    @atom-by5ur 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, just a question from someone that will like to start competition shooting.
    For what I'm seeing the heavier the rifle the better for tracking the shoot.
    Would it make sense to have a heavier scope than a lighter one?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nobody really thinks about scopes for weight in terms of a benefit or not. It’s more on whether the scope matches up with your rifle properly. If you have a really heavy gun it leaves you less room for a heavy scope so it’s just about finding a balance that works for you.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In f class you honestly never care about sub-tensions. In fact we could operate with just a dot and nothing else because we make our adjustments by holding off on the rings of the target and we never have to range. What matters most is have a thin reticle at distance do those holds which is why the SFP is so important. It’s nearly impossible to be competing with a FFP because of how thick the reticle is at distance.

    • @glockparaastra
      @glockparaastra 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FClassJohn very interesting. Thanks. Yes I find the FFP reticles too thick. My eyesight is also very good and I like a fine crosshair or dot. I now also understand the need for the high magnification if you are using the rings to “dial”. Thanks

    How do you know how much torque to put on mount around tube and then how much to the rail to ensure it always holds zero and also doesn’t damage scope?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most high end scope mounts and scopes will have Settings recommended in their owners manuals. They can definitely change so make sure you read. Some have been as low as 16 inch pounds and some as high as 25. A lot of it depends on how they build the scope and how the scope rings themselves compress.

      @@ToughCowboy I would always default to the scope manufacturer specifications. If they don’t list it you should be able to contact them and get a recommended setting.
