It's amazing what you accomplished restoring your baseball glove. I tried repairing my Wilson a2000 after a dog took a chunk out of the heal of my glove. My repair did not go well. My glove has never been the same, but after seeing your video is amazing what you accomplished with no leather working experience. I started my second restoration on my Wilson a2000 from the 70s. I hope I restoration turns out as well as yours did. Thanks for the encouragement through your video.
Super how-to video! I was looking at my 40+ year old Mizuno, wondering how I could replace the palm lining. Watching you work convinced me that I could do it myself. You made it look easy. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share it with others. Much appreciated.
Awsome vidéo. Thanks for taking the time to edit so well. Your little chat with us was quite inspiring. A baseball glove restauration can seem quite intimidating. You looked quite experienced.
Just got my grandfathers mac Gregor! Going to condition it with some bick 4 right now! Can't wait to see how it comes out. He used it in softball when he was younger and taught me how to play baseball with it. I even got to play softball with him. But I finally got it from him. But it's been sitting in his bag for years! At least 10 years probably longer. Laces are good just needs a good cleaning and oiling. I have a pretty nice easton but I'll be using this one for sure. I'm coaching my sons baseball team now which is the same team I played on as a kid..we have the same head coach and it's the team my grandfather helped coach when I was on it. Good times and memories. Can't wait to see how the my grandfathers glove comes out. Wish I could go all out but a nice oiling will do!
That was awesome. I’ve been watching tons of glove rebuilding videos hoping to learn about the process in order to choose a reputable person to send my childhood glove to and perform the same level of restoration. It’s your fault that I’m now contemplating doing it myself. The grommets are what sold me. Everyone says they don’t reinstall them and you clearly showed how straight forward they are.
Well done. The sentimental aspect made it all the better. Plus being that it is a MacGregor is phenomenal. Vintage MacGregor sporting goods are rare and hard to find.
pretty great, you say? ... how about ABSOLUTE ART!! ... love your touches ie black edging (way better than orange), Budweiser crown on back, gold rivets and best of all a BRAND NEW smooooth soft interior leather ..... Roy Smalley would be proud and say You are the real ALL STAR
Any chance you can share a list of the supplies you used? You did an amazing job and would like to try to emulate what you did with a current restoration that I am working on. :-)
I just kind of randimly bought things. Went into a Weaver Leather store and talked with someone there and picked out some supplies. Highly recommend googling Weaver Leather and see if you have a store close to you!! Super Helpful!!
Fantastic Video! I can see that you’re attached to your glove! I have a 45 year old glove that has great sentimental value. I’ve started taking it apart. It’s in bad shape and I will need to replace some leather. Thanks for providing this video because you gave me ideas on how to proceed. Any chance you could provide a list of materials and tools that you used in your restoration? Thanks.
I actually just got a starter kit for leatherworking from Weaver Leather. They have stores and are online. The dye and oil and glue i also got from them. Have fun doing the process! After I finished this glove it has become 1 of my favorite things that I own!
Awesome job, colour wouldve stained a bit better if the leather was washed/conditioned before staining. I guess if you did that the signature wouldve faded more though😅
Great job! Do you happen to know what kind of stitch you used with the thread? I know people use saddle stitch a lot but I like how you did it. Thanks!
Awesome vídeo and outstanding work. Definitely given me ideas and n how to proceed. Didn’t quite get the stitching technique you used for the interior palm. As for the binding did you do the same thing or did you just use two needles going back and forth? Thank you for sharing your work. Fantastic!!
Yep, same back and forth method for the palm. It was basically just trial and error. A few different times i had to take the stitching i did back out then re try it a different way. Once i got it how i liked it, i kept it.
I juat got some basic starter tools from Weaver Leather. They are online and have stores all over the US. The dye and glue and oil is also from them. I totally encourage you to refurbish your glove!! Such a rewarding process!!
Hopefully you get this!..what did you use to remake the soft sherpa looking material that goes on the strap that goes over your wrist/top of the hand. I need to do the same thing you did. What is the material and the black piece you used to put the soft sherpa material onto before putting in onto the glove. Thank you!!
@@rockstickdirt thank you! It's the lamb leather hyde I didnt know. I just seen it had bumps all over it but thought it was a thin piece leather (cow hyde). This definitely helps because my grandfathers glove the part that goes across the top of the wrist is all beat up. It's all ripped where the logo is and staggley so I need to somehow fix that and the method you used is perfect! Appreciate it man
Hey! Its this stuff called E6000. Its awesome stuff!! Ive used it to stick sooo many different things together. I highly recommend having a spare bottle in your house for repairs and projects. Pretty much any store has it in stock.
Thanks. Did you glue both sides and then stitch once through the binding and the external and internal layers of leather?….I am trying to figure out how to hand stitch a glove also.
No offense, but you're not doing your viewers any favors by not listing and linking the materials you used. Guys are looking for videos like this to do the same thing, but without a clue on materials, it's pointless.

Surely this is now the most luxurious MacGregor glove that ever existed. A true labor of love.
First time seeing one fully restored. A lot of time and effort put into this one. Looks great
Dude, the meticulous effort to do this is impressive! How you made the inner leather lining! Wow!
This really hits home for me. My first glove was a Roy Smalley glove and it's still in the family. 40 years later, my Nephew currently uses it.

Wow 🤩 that is what a restoring a glove looks like and you winged it, I’m shocked you did an amazing job!!!!
Fantastic job, especially with no prior leatherworking experience.... You rock, man...!!!
Wow! Way to wing it. Really good video. Thanks.
If you don't like the video, go watch something else. Really wonderful job with the restoration. GB
Looks great awesome job
Excelent job. I can't thank you enough for bringing it for us.

Surprisingly pretty easy to do the gromets!
This was fantastic. You did a great job and your pride shines through.

fantastic! I'll trust you and send my glove for a over haul like yours

Stellar work! Amazing attention to detail.

Awesome job.
This is incredible nice job
Great job.
this is called HALL OF FAME CRAFTSMANSHIP !!!!!!!!!!!!! i like the video and I AM RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats beautiful! I thought you were going to het that palm bubble out by re-gluing the inside palm liner. Either way….it’s beautiful. Good job.

What are the metal hole saving things called? The ones that you were hammering through the heel of the glove...
Grommets

Hey! It was actually a small chunk of lambs wool. I got it as a "sample" piece from Weaver Leather. I think it was only like $3 too!
@@rockstickdirt was it just a thin piece of leather that you glued the piece of lambswool to? Thanks!
@@ksajak the woll was still stuck the the tanned hyde of the lamb. Lamb leather hyde on the 1 side and the woll on the other.

What kind of glue is best to glue a palm pad?

Why did you glue the binding over before sewing it on? Couldn’t tell how that impacted installation…
It just seemed like the right way to do it at the time so thats what I went with. It's held up great so far!
Thanks. Did you glue both sides and then stitch once through the binding and the external and internal layers of leather?….I am trying to figure out how to hand stitch a glove also.
Do you do these for profit? And how much do you charge?
Sadly i dont. I spent over 10 hours on this one. I think i would have to charge too much to make it worth my time.
not bad
Where’d you get your leather?
Weaver leather. They have stores and online!
Waaaaaaoooooooo
Bro can I send my glove to you to fix
Only thing is now you have no autograph on it.
But ill always remember meeting him and having him sign it. It's still kind of visible on the palm too.
Do you do this for other people?
Sorry, i just did this 1 time for my own old glove.
If I send you my glove would you restore mine? Please.. :-)
Haha!! Sooooo much work!!! You should give it a try! It ended up being a super rewarding process! Ill have the thing for the rest of my life now!
Angels and God subs him🙏🙏
