    The DCA Pro is an advanced new design that features a graphics display, USB communications, PC Software and an enhanced component identification library. The DCA Pro supports all the components that the popular Peak Atlas DCA55 supports, but adds plenty more. Components supported include: 1. Transistors (including Darlingtons and "digital" transistors), Silicon and Germanium types. Measures gain, VBE and leakage. 2. MOSFETs, enhancement mode and depletion mode types. Measure on-threshold (at 5mA) and approx transconductance (for span of 3mA-5mA). 3. JFETs, including normally off SiC types. Measures pinch-off voltage (at 1uA) and approx transconductance (for span of 3mA-5mA). 4. IGBTs (insulated gate bipolar transistors). Measures on-threshold (at 5mA). Diodes and Diode networks. 5. LEDs and bicolour LEDs (2 lead and 3 lead types). 6. Zener Diodes with measurement of zener voltage up to 9V at 5mA. 7. Voltage regulators (measures regulation voltage less than 8V, drop-out voltage, quiescent current). Note that some regulators are not stable without their decoupling caps and/or minimum load and cannot be tested by the DCA75. 8. Triacs and Thyristors that require less than 10mA of gate current and holding current.

    Ah! You broke down and got one. I did the same. It helped me match up FET's and fix my Tek 475's little trigger-centering problem.
    It's a bad-ass little dude.
    I lamented not having a case so I googled and sure enough, they make 'em and they're on Amazon. Not too 'spensive either. I think it's worth getting one. I think it was $25.
    PS: I actually very much enjoyed the train whistle in stereo in the ol' earbuds. (8^D)
    Edit: ah, yours was on Keeran. Thanks, Keeran. Good on ya.

    g_m is "transconductance." FETs use voltage to control current so their gain is mA/V, which is reciprocal of resistance=conductance.

    • @SlyerFox666
      @SlyerFox666 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I doubt it would read in circuit as the base pin usually has a current limiting resistor and other shunt paths might throw the readings. Usually to check a transistor you could just check across base emitter an see if it's working with .5-.7 v drop tho 👍
