If one course from the Arcade games somehow makes it into the Booster Course Pass, I hope it would be Namco Circuit
I want PAC man and don chan as characters
Yes, but personally still hoping for a Crusin' Blast crossover. :V
Isn't that the one with the awesome Rally-X remix?
Wait, no, it's the other one.
@@jockson7574 I want Mametchi and Agumon myself. (That's a lie, I actually want Gabumon, Veemon or Gaomon instead of Agumon but I am being realistic here)
@@mattwo7 ok so?
I have played on these cabinets before but had NO IDEA they were essentially running on modified GameCube hardware, that is so cool!
It's honestly insane Nintendo was as cool as they were with the idea LMAO
Bro, everyone knew that...
@@Aaronitmar i really want gp dx to be on the switch so we won't have to keep using coins and it will autosave for you
@LandonEmma I never knew any of this until today. I didn't know there was a mario kart arcade until my junior year in high-school when I went out of town because my city didn't have anything like this in our arcade
@@angelganon8213 yeah i really want to play it but i would to spend some quarters which is why i want it on switch so we won't have to spend any quarters and it will always autosave
Mario Kart Arcade GP is actually pretty good and is very underrated!
I agree!
🤙
I love all three versions of Mario Kart Arcade GP.
Pac-Man
I wanted to play it
This is actually the first Mario Kart game I played. At the time, I thought it was a like a knock-off lol (I was a pac-main)
BUZZ FROM BRAWL STARS REAL111!111!1!?//??//
I played as lil Drum dog!!! I recognized him but I don’t think I’ve ever played his game.
Off topic but Buzz brawl stars!!!
@@AverageEggmonEnthusiast Me too
I wish they included these courses, characters, karts, items and mechanics in MK8DX.
exactly! it would get a ton more people back into the game imo.
Ask about it on the nintendo support line on their website. I did it and they said it would be passed along
@@TheDancingMudkipbut it isn't going to go anywhere. They just say that to make you feel happy
Well, I dunno how up you are for modding your Switch or if it's already modded. But there's track replacement mods for MK8DX. I just grabbed one that replaced the original 48 tracks with custom tracks and fan-ports from other MK games. It has a couple of the Arcade tracks.
And soon, ish, the mod "CTGP Deluxe" is gonna come out for it that adds even more and does way more stuff
Or if you don't mind playing an older MK, there's the mod "Mario Kart Wii Deluxe" that legit has around 800+ tracks, including everything from SNES up to Wii, tons of the Arcade tracks, tracks from other kart racers, and a ton of fully custom tracks.
Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS also has a version of CTGP.
Mario and Pac-Man are among the earliest gaming icons
Of course they look well next to each other
The thing for me is *Mario Kart GP is actually the only Mario Kart game I played...* but damn finally some recognition for this gem
DX has a more ambitious Japanese version rather than the version you’ve probably seen at Dave and busters and malls. You can race against player “ghosts” to take over Japan, which also let you save data to a data card
I never been to Daves and Busters because i don't have a gf
That mode is also in even the US version of Maximum Tune 5DX+
@@heardofrvb hm, clearly bando namcai liked the mode enough to put it somewhere over here
TAKE OVER JAPAN
@@jahjoeka that's a dumb excuse. I'm going there for my 20th birthday soon
I remembered seeing this arcade cabinet at my local bowling alley from 2005 until about 2009 when it got replaced by Nicktoons Nitro. To date, I find it bizarre to see Pac-Man make an appearance in a Mario Kart game.
I love the mario kart arcade games. If they made a home port of it, i would lose my mind
Been wishing for arcade/arcade gp content in 8 deluxe. Love to see more recognition
ive played this a few times in my life, its pretty fun and the unique items in the game help to make it fresh, not to mention playable don-chan and pacman
Honestly the arcade games r amazing and I always wished they’d release them on consoles
If they came out on consoles then I think that’d just make the lack of content and overly basic track layouts stick out a lot more
@@crazynaut223 Sell it for cheap then
@@crazynaut223 They could be DLC tracks for console MK games. Some have already been added via mods and it feels good
They could always do a lot more with MK than they currently do.
Gp and gp2 can be played on a modded wii also with pc emulation
They basically reimagined Mario Kart Arcade GP's concept into Mario Kart Tour
There was a cabinet of the first GP in a local mall and played the crap out of it during my teens.
Something to note: Most, if not ALL of the tracks from the arcade games, have been fan-ported to other Mario Kart games via modding. Even over in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on my Switch, I have a mod that replaced all the original 48 tracks with custom tracks and fan ports, and it has a couple tracks from the arcade game, like that Asian themed one, and the Taiko track.
Mario Kart Wii has a bunch of mods. "Mario Kart Wii Deluxe" is one of the HUGE ones with legitimately like, 800 tracks. Pretty much every track from Super Mario Kart up to Mario Kart Wii. Along with a bunch of Arcade track ports, ports from other kart racers, and a lot of fully custom tracks.
CTGP is another popular mod that exists I think for MKWii, but also Mario Kart 7 on 3DS, and soon for 8 Deluxe on Switch.
Mods are amazing for someone like myself who actually missed out on most Nintendo consoles between the N64 and Switch, thus missing a bunch of Mario Kart games. Right now, the mod on my Switch is great, I'm loving playing some of these older tracks it adds. But I can't wait for CTGP. Most mods can't add new tracks without replacing some, but CTGP seems to have been able to mod the actual list, so hopefully it has ALL the tracks.
Played it at a Dave & Busters, really fun, but I wonder and hope they either add Kirby (most of all), or pacman for last non Mario character for MK8D
It's bizarre how this is the only Mario Kart (thus far) to think to include something big related to Wario's adventures.
Seriously, a Mario Kart that takes advantage of the "larger" Mario universe would be great.
I saw this game at one of the Disney Resorts small arcade area. It caught my eye but didn't have a long time to play as I was mostly just getting a drink at the nearby quick food before heading out to the parks. Seeing Pacman as part of the cast was wild.
I've played the DX version of GP at my local arcade and it's super fun to play!
i play this every time i see it in an arcade. this game is SO good.
I've wished Nintendo and Bamco would remake the Mario Kart Arcade games for switch or for the next Nintendo Console titled "Mario Kart Arcade GP Ultimate" were it contains all the tracks from GP1, 2 and DX. And new cups like Ridge Racer Cup, Klonoa Cup, Rally-X Cup and Galaga Cup That would be amazing! Plus I want Klonoa, Pinky, Inky, Clyde, Mappy, Rally-X Driver and Reiko Nagase as new drivers :)
No, I've played this franchise, was my favorite game to play whenever I went to Chuck.E.Cheese
Ayyy same man
@@nintendoisfrom1889 sick
Oh yes I did play these games. They were something I would always look forward to at my local Dave and Busters alongside Daytona USA and Guitar Hero arcade lol
Mario and Pac-Man not being out of place together is true and it makes sense because they were both arcade games when they were first created PAC-Man got his own arcade game and Mario was featured in Arcade Donkey Kong. So those two are nostalgic for the series.
Aw, I like Mario Kart Tour. Though I never played it I love it cause you get to travel the world and they have some cool titles for the courses. So I love it. ❤💗
I've always preferred the Mario Kart Arcade GP games over the mainline entries, so seeing more people talk about it is always a treat in my book!
Wow
Said no one ever,
@@silentclaw6439Jokes on you, I ain’t lying when I said I prefer the GP games.
I want an Remake called Mario Kart Arcade GP Ultimate with everytrack added from GP1,2 and DX, Plus Klonoa as an new racer :)
Looks like one of Demeech’s lackeys found their way here
I loved seeing these, whenever I went to an arcade, I PRAYED that these were there!!!
i have played it only once in my life and it was at disney world, the item button was broken and so i just had to stare at a basin stuck in my item slot while on bowsers castle
I played Arcade GP DX once at some Cineplex theatre in a mall, it was neat, wish I got more out of it, possibly come across it again
I’ve never played the Arcade GP games but I’d definitely love to give it a try, it looks awesome
I'm so glad I watched this video cuz Mario kart DX was absolutely amazing to play, mainly cuz it was first and last time I played this with a friend which was the last time I saw them before I moved to the other side of the U.S., but also cuz this game hits so hard
Aaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!! That game was my very first Mario Kart experience! I still remember that I played it at a resort arcade. I had never played any Mario Kart game prior to that, and that was years before I ended up being able to get my own DSi and a copy of Mario Kart DS.
I completely forgot about the camera feature! I do now remember taking a photo of my 10 year old self.
(8:20) I'm certain the one I played didnt have the card stuff.
Also, I didn't think there was a sequel, as the arcade I played it at had the first one, but your explanation helped me understand that the operators likely didn't think it was worth to get them in or upgrade their existing cabinets.
I played this one time at the Disney's Contemporary before the remodel when the arcade was in the ground floor with the quick service restaurant, now i think its a fancy-pants restaurant called "The Wave" which was extremely mid but I digress.
It was broken or something because I couldn't get the items to work. That sucked because it looked like a lot of fun, but it was unplayable since the CPUs just wiped the floor with you and you couldn't do anything.
I wish GP DX went all out with the Namco guests. Like, PAC-Man and Don-chan are great, but imagine instead of adding characters like Baby Mario and Baby Peach, they added other guests like Dig Dug, Lloyd from Tales, Klonoa, or even someone from Tekken, that’d be hilarious 😂
I agree. They also could have included Robo Mario instead of having Metal Mario too.
@@ketchupdragon73x call back to GP2 👍🏻
If you get 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or last, you have to redo the race until you win! It would've been common sense if 2nd and 3rd received partial credit!
My understanding of the "clone" items is that while they function pretty much the same, they have slightly different effects on the force feedback of the wheel that the opponent hit has to "fight" against. No effect on CPU opponents or regular controllers though.
This was my childhood. I played it EVERY TIME I went to the arcade. Was how my best friend and I bonded at first in 2009.
i do love the music for Arcade GP2 (mostly because those songs are extended from the first Arcade GP); you have Mario Beach/Mario Highway, Rainbow Coaster/Rainbow Downhill and the new addition Yoshi Park, all of which are bangers. The Challenge Mode music is pretty great too.
My Favorite Mario Kart Series, Thank You!
I wish these tracks were added into the Booster Course.
Title: “you’ve never played”
0:29 “you might’ve even played it”
I've got a few of the new versions in the arcade/ entertainment centre I work at! It's pretty darn cool. Underrated fr
I can only hope all 3 games get some love in a hypothetical “Booster Course Pass Vol. 2” with PAC-MAN, Mametchi, Don-Chan and Blinky (maybe PAC-MOM as a Ms. PAC-MAN subsitute) as playable characters
It can work considering how Tour courses use the same design philosophy as these games, and Bandai Namco ALSO developing Mario Kart 8, 8 Deluxe, and Tour as a support studio.
Wait they helped make 8, 8 deluxe, and tour?
@@jockson7574yep, They worked primarily on Asset development, and in Mario Kart Tour, about half of the challenges. It’s likely they’ve been the ones backporting those Tour assets to 8 Deluxe.
(Stated on the website for Bandai Namco Studios)
@@ZW_Zacattack99wow and Nintendo didn’t pay them back by adding the arcade content on there? Wow fuck Nintendo. And also fuck Bandai Namco for not having any Sega representation since 2005
For someone who takes all of the tokens around the arcade this is my favorite arcade game that I play for hours at my local arcade even in the modern year, I played it this month actualy!
Still can’t believe I got to play this for myself on a boat if all things. I count my blessings each time I remember.
Very informative!! I played the 2nd one in an arcade recently, the controls were kind of busted from age and use, but fun regardless!

As an SEA WMMT player myself,
the "Banana" Passport [BanaPassport] is used for our save progress in WMMT6RR *WMMT6RR+ later this April* (Japan/SEA only) since the game has a ridiculous 100 chapters in story mode, (Story Mode is required for you to tune up your car to max power) so that card is also necessary for MKGPDX too, if you want to keep your TA records in a certain course. *If it the JP version only.*
Oh yeah, I've actually encountered and played one or both of the first two machine a couple of times in the past as a kid. (Not sure which one exactly)
Even went against other players. Didn't mess with the cards though.
Sometimes I forgot this exists but I had no idea there was a more modern version.
Play these all the time on my my homebrew wii. Such great games, brings me back playing these 10 or so years ago
For the next Mario Kart game, I want Link, Pacman, Sonic, Captain Falcon, and Rob
I work at an arcade, and yeah it suck that the western GPDX machines don't have what the Japan cabinets do. It's literally just one race, and then bam more credits. Regardless if you win or not.
I played the OG MK GP as a kid in my local movie theater. This video gave that nice nostalgic nudge… ah…
I remember playing the SEQUEL of the arcade version as a kid. Even though I haven't heard of the characters in my naive time, I would main Mametchi!
Mario Kart DS would forever be my number one, though. It was the one game that lured me into the entire Mario series as a whole!!
I am so glad to hear people talk about Arcade games. GPDX is my favorite.
The "national battle" character icons are from Bandi Namco's Go Vacation series of games (there is only one Go Vacation but they also used the same assets for We Ski & We Fishing
Mario Kart Arcade GP Deluxe is such a huge favorite of mine whenever I go to an arcade or bowling alley!
I've actually played it back in 2015, it was really fun game and very underrated. I'ma glad it's available with a emulator
My local arcade had this one and I loved it. Pac-man, Mamechi? Mainline mario kart could never
My local game and geek store has a mini arcade and has one of these mario cart arcades in it. Its a lot of fun
i feel like nintendo should add ANOTHER segment of characters for character select in mario kart 8, then in the next booster courses add characters from the arcade cabinets like don-chan and katsu, pac man and all the ghosts (as selectable colours like yoshi and shy guy) then maybe characters from other nintendo franchises like olimar and louie, maybe some paper characters, goomba or some enemies, maybe even some more DK family characters like cranky and chunky? idk, would be cool
Honorable mention: the new ride Mario Kart Bowsers Challenge at Universal Studios Hollywood uses AR glasses, but has a button to press to throw shells instead of tiring hand flailing 😅
I had decent knowledge of the first one, and I've even played it a couple times, but I had no idea about the others.
"ha loosers didnt make it" got me rolling on the floor 💀
ive actaully played the mario kart GP games alot, id always find them in arcades at holiday parks or seaside arcades,
boy the amount of pound coins i spent on them XD
I played this on a cruise once, very fun with my cousin!
5:16 damn look at how Yoshi swings that saber.
growing up i would play these games all the time in arcades, then i grew up and couldn't find them anywhere until i went to this place in Michigan called "dave and busters" and they have these there so i could play them as an adult. it was a blast from the past.
I love these man
They had one of these at the chuck e cheese where i lived as a kid. Pretty fun :)
I have played these mario kart arcade game everytime i go to the cinema
It's was also on a hotel but idk where it's from
I've managed to play all of these with the actual machines. Tbh I think DX is the only substantially good one. The others are a neat novelty but don't really do anything that well. It would be cool to have the best tracks from the game added to 8 as DLC though. Or just, releasing the games in a collection.
Great job with mario kart arcade games
lmao I searched your exact video title to see if someone made a video about these arcade games, and I'm glad you did.
It would be cool if arcade gp/gpdx tracks were in tour
Tour is such a crappy "game." 😑
@@PhilipMarcYT no
@@PhilipMarcYT Nice joke
No it isn't
I had so much fun with the arcade games as a kid lol
I used to play arcade GP Deluxe a lot. Bandai did a good job.
Yea namcai and Bando did a great job
The fact that Mario Kart GP DX characters have skins instead of taking up extra slots like in Mario Kart 8 DX is INSANE to me. Why does this have that but not one of the mainline games?!
I’ve played Mario Kart Wii, DS, 7, 8, and 8 Deluxe. I’ve also played the Mario Kart 4 Arcade system once and I hope the do it again. But I’ve never played the first Mario kart games or Mario Kart 64, Double Dash, GBA, GCN, SNES, or Tour. But I’m hoping that remaster the courses from those games so I can try them out. And I love the Mario karts series today.
I never knew this game had sequels, I remember racing as Pac-Man in the arcade when I was literally 5
i live in the Netherlands and in the city were my work is is a arcade that have mario kart gp 2 and i stil play it when i have time to go there
I've been to a mall that has kiosk games. Never went in because going to the mall is something I rarely do. Public areas are getting crazier
The songs in these games are BANGERS XD
Mario vr also had some firsts for the mario series is characters being unplayable for the first time
I went camping last week, and the site had an arcade. And they had 2 of these systems!
Mario kart arcade gp is brilliant ❤i love playing it
Nintendo confirmed that Dr Mario is officially the 3rd Mario brother and not Mario’s alternate identity like everyone tought before
I played the second game and I agree steering was a bit of a pain and that announcer was ruthless for me constantly telling me i was being passed and was in dead last.
Did you know Daisy isn't playable? Yeah, I know, you can only see her in the award ceremony.
I rerembered playing this when I was 4 or 5 and it was so much fun! Even though I was bad, I have some fond memories of playing it with my sibling in a mall but I dont know where
I want to play Mario Kart arcade gp Dx so bad but just don't know how to go by doing it, it looks like such a splendid game
I go to Dave and Busters every year for my birthday and I make sure to play this every time
I remember playing this on a Ferry around 2012
It's amazing how to play and drive the Mario Kart games.
Mario kart arcade gp 2 will always be my favorite mario kart game I remember going to an arcade at my cousins place and spending almost all of my time there and there will times where my aunt forced me to play other games and go on rides with my cousin when I was a kid when I was trying to spend all of my tokens on the game I always spend almost all of my tokens on the game everytime I visited too bad it went out of business in 2021.
I played every mario Kart game including these and that was my childhood (besides double dash)
We already have quest characters in MK8 (Those being Link, Villager, Isabelle, and Inkling), so I think that the Namco Reps that appeared in the MK Arcade titles should be added in MK8.
I have a question, do the GameCube joy-con controllers have a amiibo reader?
8:18 Ah yes, the modern arcade Save Card. Gauntlet Legends' password system was revolutionary (even if it was carried over from the NES port of the first game) but it never did quite catch on like the IC cards.
Today you made me realize it was namco's experience working on these that let them build the pac-man world rally kart racer for 2006, wild.
Also seeing how many assets were reused for mk8 from dx is wild.
