I'm always impressed by the graphics capability of the Famicom and imagine the impact that console must have had in the mid-80s around the world. Even more so in the face of old systems of 2nd generation and even their direct predecessors, such as MSX and ColecoVision. It is remarkable in homebrews the ease of programming in the use of the capabilities of the Famicom, which varies only according to the imagination of its creators.
Guys who translate games and make it happen, are great. Mother 2,3 i have played. But the hack for the mother 25th anniversary sounds great. Some people have put work to give life into the games, that is great :D
Missing quite a lot of the Big ones to call this a "Best" list. Where is Rockman 4 minus infinity, Extra Mario Bros, Some Usual Day, Super Mario 3mix, Legend of Link, and Legend of Zelda: Awakening of Onyx
Thanks for the video and the amount of detail shown for each hack. There are a number of good hacks especially for these games. The problem is too many of them and not enough time to play them. I like what was presented. These hacks have amazing graphical improvement as well as gameplay. Exactly what I was looking for.
Great picks. Here are some of my favorite hacks: - Rockman IV: Minus Infinity (This is the most impressive Mega Man Hack I've ever seen. I had so much fun playing through this game. Such a blast) - Mega Man Air Sliding (Air Sliding makes for a very unique feeling Mega Man experience. I highly recommend this one. ) - Mega Man Burst Chaser (Very satisfying feeling to play a well done Mega Man game, with x2 scrolling speed.) - Zelda: The Legend of Link (I made some physical copies of this game, that play a tune when opened. It's on my channel if you wanna check it out.) - Rogue Dawn (Played through this one with a map. Filled it in as I progressed. Of all the hacks I've played, this one made me feel the most like I was 10 years old again. Amazing feeling) - Super Mario 3mix (The absolute best Mario hack in my opinion. Nothing comes close. Cannot rave enough about this one. Please try it, if haven't already.) It's funny you mention Holy Relics. The guy who made it, also did the music for Rogue Dawn. He and I did Skype sessions, where he'd teach me how to hack. I made a Donkey Kong Classics hack, called Krang's Kingquest, with his help. I small snippet of it is also on my channel. I've greatly improved it since. I just started working on it again. Fun stuff. Optomon released his new NES game recently. It's called Rolly. I remember him demoing it at PRGE a few years back. Also, regarding Holy Relics. Back when I used to make physical copies of hacks, Chris gave me exclusive permission to sell Holy Relics. I suggested he commission Marc Erickson(Mega Man 2 cover artist) to do the cover art for it. He ended up working out a deal with him. Cost him $1000. It turned out pretty bad if you ask me, but it's still very cool that Marc did it for him. Long story short, I had some personal things come up, and never got around to making copies. I guess Chris never did anything with the cover art. Bummer. Anywho, it's always nice to see another NES hack enthusiast. Thanks for making this vid. I need to try Mario Ultimate out.
Whoa hey thanks for the cool stories about us. You finished Krang Kong? The Erickson art made its way onto some carts at least. I have the original print hiding somewhere in storage waiting to be in a game room or office again someday.
The 1 Disappointment about this video is The Fact that you did not include SUPER MARIO BROS. 3MIX, SUPER MARIO UNLIMITED nor ZELDA - THE LEGEND OF LINK either. Still an interesting video, as Mario Ultimate, Mega Man in the Mushroom Kingdom & Mario Adventure catch MY Attention + seeing a Fan-Made Kirby game is also AMAZING!
@@CaptainJack1 Makes sense, but I do prefer Super Mario Bros. 3Mix over Super Mario Adventure, as that one has a bit of other Super Mario games Mixed in, including Super Mario Galaxy!

@@nightmare4lol It could be your original SMB3 rom file. There are few different versions. On a hack's romhacking page you can see the exact version of the rom you need under "ROM / ISO Information" Both hacks want the (PRG0) version of the game.
@@CaptainJack1 dude I tried changing my rom files so many times, all of them supposedly the correct version ( or variations of the 2 of them which there are the option of 1 or the other according to the website) Ive given up on them. Its ok
@@CaptainJack1 just to clarify, its Deadpool by Techmoon, there is another one floating around but it was an stolen beta modified to be sold (by Pacnsacdave) so I encourage you to not try that version, its incomplete, its reskinned, bugged and also not the one made and complete by the devs (Im one of them, you can see it on my youtube). Hope you add the game later in a new vid, it took us years to finish.

that Mario adventure hack should have put pom pom in instead of boom boom for some of the levels, that would have mixed things up a bit.
