It Litterly did this we should sue I find it funny how when the PS5 came out all of a sudden everyone I know with a PS4 has this issue after the updates it does on the PS4 automatically what a coincidence
So I got a new ps4 and switched the hard drives. Now asking for a usb system software update. If I update it with the usb and ps4 turns back on. Would my data on the hard drive transfer along with the games and progress?
Hi there, thank you for your question! This process typically does not keep your saved data, games, and progress from the previous PS4. The PS4 reformats the hard drive to match the system when you perform the initial setup, which erases all data on the drive. To keep your games, saves, and progress, you should back up data on the original PS4 before swapping. If you're a PlayStation Plus member, you can upload saves to the cloud and download them to the new PS4 afterward.
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend trying to power cycle the PS4 by turning it off, unplugging the power cable, waiting 30 seconds, and turning it back on. Enter Safe Mode by holding the power button for 7 seconds until the second beep, then connect a controller via USB and press the PS button. In Safe Mode, try "Rebuild Database" to fix system storage issues without losing data, "Restore Default Settings" to reset system settings, or "Update System Software." If these don't work, you might need to initialize the PS4, which erases all data. You can also reinstall system software by downloading the update file from the PlayStation website, saving it on a USB drive in a folder named "UPDATE," plugging it into the PS4, and selecting "Initialize PS4 (Reinstall System Software)" in Safe Mode.
So where can I get the original ps4 cable? I've tried EVERYTHING ELSE, and I mean that, literally. My ps4 doesn't recognize ANY of the usb options and it cannot get into Safe mode screen at all. Thanks for your response,it would be greatly appreciated. I've subbed, waiting for a response 🙂
Help please!. My PS4 is in a kind of "loop", where it won't get pass the "Cannot Start the PS4." Black screen. I HAVE: rebuilt the data base, updated using Internet and USB in which it does go through the update process after restarting it goes back to the "Cannot Start PS4. I would like to avoid having to REINSTALLATION FILE, since I do not have the means to copy them and I haven't saved on cloud for a long time.
Hi there, thank you for your question! You can try restoring default settings in Safe Mode, which won't delete games or apps but resets system settings. Check for corrupted data or storage issues by removing external drives or reseating the internal hard drive. Ensure no discs are inside the console and test using a different power source or cable. If these steps don’t work and you can't back up data, contact PlayStation support for further help before considering a full reinstall.
I’m not sure if it’s the update that mess the whole system up or it could be because My shit was always getting unplugged while playing, tried every method on this video and still doesn’t work, might need to my replace hard drive
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps mentioned in the video I would recommend trying to take it to a professional for further assistance before buying a replacement.
Hi there, thank you for your question! A console update file is used to update the system software to the latest version without erasing your saved data, games, or settings, while a console reinstallation file reinstalls the entire system software, wiping all data, including saved games and personal files.
Hey, I am having this same issue and I downloaded the software on the ps4 website and I followed your instructions on reinstalling the file in safe mode. After I did this, it said downloading software and it completed. But after it restarted, the same message popped up from the beginning. What should I do?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Make sure you’ve downloaded the correct full system software file (around 900 MB) from the PlayStation website under the "Reinstall System Software" section. Format your USB drive to FAT32 or exFAT (not NTFS), and create a folder structure like this: PS4 > UPDATE, placing the update file (PS4UPDATE.PUP) inside the UPDATE folder. Restart your PS4 in Safe Mode by holding the power button until you hear the second beep, then select Initialize PS4 and follow the prompts. If the issue persists, try using a different USB drive, plugging into a different port, or resetting the PS4’s CMOS by unplugging it from power for 30 minutes before retrying.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Turn off your PlayStation by holding the power button then hold down the power button till you hear 2 beeps this will take you into safe mode, then choose the option to restore storage and restart your PlayStation and boot back into Safe Mode and then install the update from the internet. If that doesn't work I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Hi there, thank you for your question! It shouldn't be an issue as long as everything is installed correctly have you tried a different USB or different port?
Hi there, thank you for your question! you'll need to reinstall the system software. First, download the PS4UPDATE.PUP file from the official PS4 system software page. Format a USB flash drive (FAT32 or exFAT), create a folder named PS4, then inside it, another folder named UPDATE, and copy the file there. Insert the USB into the PS4, boot into Safe Mode (hold the Power button until you hear two beeps), and select Option 7: Reinstall System Software. Follow the prompts to complete the process. Ensure the file and folder structure are correct, and use the correct reinstall file to avoid errors.
I'm managing to get into safe mode but I don't have any options like on your screen ... it just says safe mode at the top left hand side , then it goes completely blank and looks like the power if off? Any ideas ?
Hi there, thank you for your question! I recommend trying to restart and selecting "Safe Mode with Networking" to load additional drivers, which may resolve the display issue. In Safe Mode, open Device Manager, locate your display adapter, and disable it, then restart normally to check if the display returns; you could also try updating or rolling back the display driver. Run a system scan by opening Command Prompt as an administrator in Safe Mode (or the Recovery Environment) and typing sfc /scannow to repair corrupted system files. If available, try selecting "Last Known Good Configuration" in the startup options to restore the last successful driver setup. Alternatively, boot into the Windows Recovery Environment and choose either "Startup Repair" or "System Restore" if you have a restore point, which may fix software issues causing the Safe Mode display problem.

Thank you for your answer. When I analyse my High Driver, I have these files : aac, png, xml, x3f, swf, jpg. Do you think my save data are in one of these files ? Thank you.
Why does mine keep doing this? Then once it’s finally on I check the system software and it says the latest is updated and I have plenty of room. I have an extended hard drive and sometimes I just have to use this to do the download but others it says it needs to be in exFat.
I'm trying to play a game on my PS4, but every time I insert the disc, it says "corrupted data." I've tried all the steps except Initialize because I don'[t want to erase all my data. What can you suggest I do?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Start by booting the PS4 in Safe Mode and selecting "Rebuild Database," which reorganizes the system data without deleting anything. Additionally, manually delete any corrupted data by navigating to Settings > Storage > System Storage > Saved Data and removing corrupted files, then try reinstalling the game. Check the game disc for visible damage, clean it if necessary, and test it on another PS4 if possible. You can also test your PS4's hard drive by using a spare or external one to install the game. Ensure your PS4 is running the latest software by checking Settings > System Software Update.
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend you try restarting in Safe Mode by turning off the PS4, holding the power button until you hear two beeps, and connecting your controller via USB. In Safe Mode, first select rebuild Database to scan the drive and create a new database. If that doesn't work, try updating the system software by selecting and updating via a USB drive if necessary. If the issue persists try Restore Default Settings, which resets your settings without deleting data. As a last resort Initialize the PS4 will wipe all data and restore the PS4 to factory settings, so back up your data beforehand.
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would always recommend backing up your data before attempting any of the steps but only formatting the drive would erase data on the drive.
So I had to initialise mine (that worked) then it did the update (that worked) but then it switched on or “restarted” and the screen is staying black now
Hi there, thank you for your question! Try power cycling by turning off the PS4, unplugging it for a few minutes, and plugging it back in. Check your HDMI connection to ensure the cable is secure, try a different port or cable, and confirm your TV is on the correct input. If that doesn't work, enter Safe Mode by holding the power button for 7 seconds until a second beep, then connect your controller via USB and try options like "Change Resolution" or "Rebuild Database."
I had my ps4 in safe loop for 1 year and half i didn't wanna lose my data but im glad i had it save in my cloud thank u for telling me this ima hope i don't gotta delete everything but thank u alot
What happens when I reinstallation file? Do I lose all my Data or is there a way where I can store it on a usb drive and save all my data or is all my date erased forever?😭
Hi there, thank you for your question! Yes all data will be deleted. To avoid losing your data, you can back it up beforehand by using a USB drive formatted to FAT32 or exFAT. Go to Settings > Application Saved Data Management, select Saved Data in System Storage, and copy your saved files to the USB drive. You can also use the Backup and Restore feature under Settings > System to back up all system data. After reinstallation, restore your data by copying it back from the USB drive or, if you have PlayStation Plus, by downloading your saved data from the cloud. Data stored externally or in the cloud won’t be affected during reinstallation.
My controller want go over to okay after i go in safe mode... It's say connect the usb and controller then once i hit the ps button i can't go to ok to get the final screen
Hi there, thank you for your question! Start by ensuring the USB cable you're using is functional; consider trying a different cable or USB port. Reset the controller by turning it off, pressing the reset button on the back near the L2 button with a small pin for about 5 seconds, and then reconnect it to the console via USB before pressing the PS button again. Power cycle your console by holding the power button until you hear two beeps, unplugging it from the power source for a minute, and then plugging it back in and turning it on. If possible, test another controller to see if it navigates the safe mode menu correctly. Finally, try re-entering safe mode by completely turning off the console, holding the power button until you hear the second beep (about 7 seconds), and then connecting the controller via USB to see if it allows you to reach the “OK” option. If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to seek further troubleshooting or professional support.
Hi there, thank you for your question! It means the console isn’t detecting the USB drive. First, check that the drive is securely connected to a front USB port, as some drives work best in those. Make sure the drive is formatted to exFAT or FAT32, as the PS4 doesn’t support NTFS; you can reformat it on a computer if necessary, but remember that this will erase any data on it. Also, test the drive on another device to ensure it isn’t corrupted. Update your PS4 software, as outdated firmware can cause detection issues, and check if the drive requires more power than the PS4 can provide. If issues persist, try another USB drive to confirm the problem.
Hi there, thank you for your question! First Try holding the power button for 10 seconds to force a shutdown, then unplug the power cable for a minute before turning it back on. Ensure the power and eject buttons aren’t stuck or jammed, and clean around them. If that doesn't work I would recommend contacting PlayStation support for further assistance.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Have you tested the USB on a different device to make sure it isn't an issue with the USB itself? Do you get any error message when you try to use the USB on the ps4?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Yes you need to go on your destination console, go to the home screen and select Settings > System > System Software. Select Data Transfer > Continue and follow the on-screen instructions. Your destination console automatically restarts during data transfer.

Hi there, thank you for your question! If none of the steps mentioned in the video worked its most likely a more serious issue with the PS4 and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Hi there, thank you for your question! First make sure your USB drive is formatted as FAT32 or exFAT (not NTFS) and create a folder structure as PS4/UPDATE on the root of the drive. Download the correct update file from the official PlayStation website, ensuring it is named PS4UPDATE.PUP, and place it inside the UPDATE folder. The path should be USB DRIVE:/PS4/UPDATE/PS4UPDATE.PUP. Safely eject the USB, turn off your PlayStation completely, and boot it in Safe Mode by holding the power button until you hear two beeps. Select Update System Software and follow the prompts. If the issue persists, ensure the file is complete, the folder structure is correct, and try a different USB drive.

Hi there, thank you for your question! Yes just make sure it is a good quality cable and you should have no issues.
Where can I bye a USB drive
Hi there, thank you for your question! Any tech store should sell USB drives.
What does it mean when it says usb storage device is not connected to
Hi there, thank you for your question!
Thank you 🙏 so much appreciated!!
I cant turn it of it just beeps fast two times what can i do?
Hi there, thank you for your question! First Try holding the power button for 10 seconds to force a shutdown, then unplug the power cable for a minute before turning it back on. Ensure the power and eject buttons aren’t stuck or jammed, and clean around them. If that doesn't work I would recommend contacting PlayStation support for further assistance.
I'm having the same problem over and over again. My ps4 keeps saying usb is not working and it won't load. Please help me
Hi there, thank you for your question! Have you tested the USB on a different device to make sure it isn't an issue with the USB itself? Do you get any error message when you try to use the USB on the ps4?
If I buy a ps5, is there any way I could transfer my data while still being in safe mode?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Yes you need to go on your destination console, go to the home screen and select Settings > System > System Software. Select Data Transfer > Continue and follow the on-screen instructions. Your destination console automatically restarts during data transfer.
@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftwarethanks bro 🙏🏼
wtf is going on?!
When I tried to do all of this it didn't work and I couldn't turn my ps4 off
Hi there, thank you for your question! Did you try force unplugging it and restarting the device?
WARNING! If all 7 options aren't working in safe mode, DONT toss your ps4 just yet! I fixed mine. The problem was my harddrive wasnt working anymore, so i replaced it and it was fixed along with initiate ps4(reinstall system update) option 7 in safe mode!
I hope this helps anyone!
Did u lose all ur data tho? I tried to go into safe mode and when it did I couldn't choose any of the other options besides reinstall system software, which I think is the one that wipes the ps4 completely.. I don't want to lose all my data.. what do I do am I cooked?
@@rendred5442 if you didn't put your saves on an external harddrive/USB or psplus cloud storage, you fried! But you can get your trophies and digital games back if you know your log in information.
@@jvw504 but like will i have to start fresh in those games or will by characters be saved, and also i dont have ps plus right now but could I buy it and still use the cloud storage before resetting my ps4?
@@rendred5442 yes, when you initialize your ps4, you are wiping absolutely EVERYTHING including screenshots that you took(not the trophy related ones). I don't think it's possible(about psplus) since your ps4 is stuck in the safe mode loop( I haven't tried it tho but this is your last option!!) Try ps4 support before hand about that question.
I tried the original hard drive and 2 new ones...same issue.
nothing helped. i even watched other videos but they didnt help me too. i dont wanna delete my ps storage that i had for 5 years or something
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend then transferring some of the sorted data off your ps to a backup and then updating the drive after.
Not working
Hi there, thank you for your question! If none of the steps mentioned in the video worked its most likely a more serious issue with the PS4 and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Thanks bro
I don’t have the original charger. What am I gonna do?
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend getting a replacement charger.
@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware thanks
Buy a new one 🤔😂
Im having the issue of downloading the usb update but then when i olug my usb into the PlayStation it says cant find update file on usb 😞😑
Bruv i tried everything nothing happend i swear im about to break my ps4 ive downloaded 12.0 version via internet and it downloaded but still isnt working wtf
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance as it might be a hardware related issue.
Can some one help I did all the steps for the USB and it still says it’s corrupted
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps mentioned in the video its most likely an issue with the drive itself and you might need to just replace it unfortunately.
How can i backup my data even though i am stuck in safemode?
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend connecting an external USB or Drive to your computer and then once in safe mode you can manually copy & paste certain files onto the external drive.
@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware Thank you!!!
What do you do when it still doesn't work
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
I stuck as 11.52
Did yours fix. My freind somehow put me in safe mode and I’m updating to 12.00.
Just happened with the 12.00 update to me. My last resort is initialize ps4 reinstall system software. Wish me luck. 🤞
dude same for me right now! Wtf Sony!
@@philt6843 yeah bro smh. I tried to reinstall system software and it won't recognize the file. I guess I have to keep trying.
@@Illuminationfreemasonyo I’m having the same issue did initializing fix it?
@@justin51o_ not yet. I don't know if I am loading the file onto the USB right. If everything has to be off of my USB and reformatted for it to work. What is weird is that I was able to do the update and it completed to 100 percent but then the console just shuts off instead of restarting. So I must have loaded the update file right but when I downloaded the system reinstall file from psn idk if I did something wrong putting it into the update folder under PS4. Let's work on this together
@@Illuminationfreemason tbh I don’t have a usb or anything like that so my only option is to initialize my ps4 but I just want to make sure it’ll fix it before I do it
so this happened to me and happend a second time in the same day
I spent so much money on a ps4 now I can’t even use it😭
