- Cab drivers in space? Oh yes, that's what you get in this Lunar Lander-like arcade game with a cab fare twist, for the C64 by Muse Software!

So the game is the prequel to Fifth Element where Corbin Dallas loses all but five points on his license.
LMAOOO
Yes. Yes it is.
I was in my school library when I came across a book called space taxi. Seriously. That wouldn't be so strange if I also found a book titled jumpman. My library seems to love old PC games.
When I was about 10, I noticed there was a book called "Crazy Bus" in my library.
Turns out it was just two pieces of cardboard that had dried out fecal matter inside.
One of my All-Time C64 games. Love it!
Yep, as LGR likes to say "It's oddly satisfying!" lol
I remember playing a clone of this game on my pc back when I was a kid. You were piloting a prehistoric helicopter. Ugh! was it's name. It was hard as hell but a great fun.
I remember playing this game back in 1988 on my C64. The voices BLEW ME AWAY. I was 5 though so I never really got far in it.
Space Taxi and Toy Bizarre were obsessions of mine back in the 80's. Awesome!
A wonderfully addictive game that was tough as hell, but kept you coming back for more abuse anyway.
This was one of the best games ever. I remember after picking everyone up, there was always that one, last fare. I would land my taxi in a way that would kill the fare, and then every time a new fare materialized, the fare would scream, "HEY!" and then dematerialize. I would just cackle the whole time, listening to this happen over and over again.
This reminds me of a Taxi game on either Plastation 1 or 2. It might have been called something as simple as Taxi, but I don't exactly remember. What I do remember is driving into the water with my sister shouting at me "you're not going to find any passengers in the water". But there was at least one person there waiting for a taxi. I also remember driving in a tunnel on train tracks and a passenger going "boo, you take too long" and jumping out. I can only imagine he went through the wall.
thanks for that, had to go listen to the reading rainbow theme after that. This was one of my favorite c64 games.
Quickly becomes insanely difficult, which stops it being fun (a common thing with 80's games), but those early levels at least are hella good fun.
Quarantine, that's what that was called! I briefly played it as a child, and could not remember what it was called. Thanks for jogging my memory, LGR. :D
Frickin' awesome game, used to play this a lot when I was younger. Thanks for reviewing this bud!
had this fucken game in the mid-80s and loved it. the controls are what make it fun to play, plus the general absurdity...stumbled on this review just now and remembered all this space taxi craziness like it was yesterday
Love this game. The voices were awesome "Hey Taxi!"
Crazy taxi indeed, taximeter running backwards.
Seems like a badass game. You always keep it entertaining. Thanks Clint
"Space Taxi" is an excellent game concept.
Sorry, but that Homeworld box it was so sexy that I couldn't stop thinking about it the whole review...
My favourite C64 game of all time (next to Jumpman). Played it a whole lot as a child.
It looks like the Fifth Element hero's backstory was directly taken from here, which is awesome.
I looooved this game back in the day... difficult, yes, but oh so enjoyable
oh playing that game was a blast on my C64/128 machine back in the days. Thanks alot for bringing those memories back, and your awesome videos in general.
I loved this game back in the day, played it a lot.
I was amazed to see that when it crashed now and then, you could see that it was coded in BASIC, and nothing else, as far as I could tell back then.
Happy Arcade September Everyone! :)
Keep being awesome, Clint.
It doesn't surprise me. The esthetics may be completely different, but the similarity in gameplay is quite striking to me. I'm glad that now, thanks to you, I know the origins of one of the games I grew up with. Well, you are not my favorite gaming oriented youtuber for nothing ;). Keep up the good work, phreak!
We loved that game an played it alot back in the days, for whatever reason. Thanks fpr refreshing my memories.
This game was the bane of my existence as a kid on the C64. My friends would compete in how far they could get..and those f-ing Hard levels are close to impossible. Gravity pulling on you from 4 sides PLUS winds and tight corridors. *shudders*
Ahhhh, one of my favorite game ever ☺️
Space Taxi was one of my fav C64 games 30ish years ago.... if not the fav!
Thanks for the review!
3:43 I inmediatly though of buckazoids when Clint said "space bucks", if you know what I mean :D.
if only i could get that "Hey, Taxi!" sound for my phone.
Also worth trying if you have the hardware or can be bothered with the faff of emulating the old Mac OS is Space Cab. It was shareware (now abandonware) and made a lot later, so the graphics/sound is a lot better. Its downloadable on Macintosh Garden
I played a game on my Performa 575 called Space Cab that is literally the same game.
Just discovered this channel, its awesome af
Quarantine. Damn, that game was cool. if you don't have a review of it, you should. I will now look to see if I can find such a thing
Dan Bauer Try Ross' Game Dungeon
Holy shit!
This was one of my childhood favorites on good old Commodore 64.
I remember playing this many times on my cousin's place.
He had Commodore 64 with hundreds of games, which we tried as many randomly selected games as we can.
It was sweet.
:)
This game was fun, even with the very high difficultiness.
Played this game not long time ago & it's still very entertaining game after all these years.
Dont know why but this reminds me of a classic: UGH! :D
Nice review as usual and very funny.
Any plans to review some more obsolete/weird retro hardware soon?
Loved it, and the use of Petscii characters.
Intrigued I am. A big Crazy Taxi fan from way back and this looks to be a lot more challenging. If only those little dudes screamed when u crushed them. lol
0:15 "Or if you're really awesome and maybe just a bit more sadistic..." Before Clint met Ross: A Love Story.
I don't get it.
Hey LGR have you ever played or heard of Moon Taxi for Xbox 360? It was a peculiar Xbox Live Arcade game featuring voiced over passengers telling stories as you navigate them to the moon. It was very straight forward but the fun was hearing the stories. I remember liking it but Ive never seen anyone else mention it. Unfortunately I doubt it has a physical release.
... holy crap, I bet my dad feels salty now! this is one of the first video games I remember playing along with Jumpman and the C64 port of Donkey Kong. He sold off his C64 and nearly all the gmaes on the super cheap. I was like... 2 or 3, so I don't remember if we had the box with Space Taxi, but man, I can't wait to see his face when I tell him how valuable Space Taxi is nowdays.
Great game, I loved to play on my C64.
So glad i found this channel. good vibes
this game was rage inducing in latter levels.. HEY TAXI!!!
your vids are getting better by time =)
one of my favourite game on the c64, nice review!
Played it a lot and it frustrated the hell out of me as a kid. It was never responsive enough to my commands and as if it was not hard enough just to pilot the darn thing you had to avoid so much unfair crap it was just pure madness.
Potential passenger: gets hit and killed by taxi.
Potential passenger: (in slightly indignant tone) Hey!
Or at least that's what it sounded like to me.
Love this game. Played the hell out of it as a kid, even though I never came really far. I just enjoyed playing the same levels over and over again. :D Ah.. those were the times.
This is one of the greatest games ever made.
my fav game as a kid prolly one of the first i ever played that and impossible mission hotwheels and beachhead
Bless you, man. You finally reviewed my favorite C64 game of all time!
HEY, TAXI! damn that digitalized shout made me lol
Went seeking this. Played this game as a kid!
I'm SURE you've done this before.
I'd love you to do Mayhem In Monsterland if you'd be so kind. It was one of the only games to receive a 100% rating in Britain and was one of the C64's stellar final curtain calls.
I remember buying this game...thanks for making me feel old LGR
There's an Amiga version called Space Taxi 3 and similar game Ugh! on the same computer. They seem more forgiving but not easy at all.
i had this on the first issue c64. great game, forgot how much i loved it until this video:)
thanks for posting!
I had that game back in the day.
Clint you are on a roll today !!!!!!!!
I guess we found out where the 1990s game Ugh came from. A pre-history caveman wooden helicopter crazy taxi game...
Thomas Cremers yeah unbelievable. I remember singing it's praises about how original a concept it was.
Now if only they could have found a way to squeeze some Bad Religion onto the soundtrack. Granted, it would all have to be pre-"Suffer" stuff, but still. If they'd wanted to be really ironic, they could have synthesized a chiptune version of BR's "Frogger." A missed opportunity, I'd say.
"Ey!"
Famous last words indeed
Hello Taxi - this game was awesome!
this was ahead of it's time. 20 years before uber.
Gotta love Clint's more bizarre reviews...
I still play this on my commodore mini
This game rocked, and still does :)
And those fricking things that reverse your controls all of a sudden ARRRHGGG!G!G!G
Awesome, this is one of my favorite C64 games, i even play it sometimes on my phone (with an emulator) in my lunch break at work :P
I Loved that Game , as a kid a played it for so many hours, happy Times
I used to play this game so much back in the day. very hard and unforgiving!
It actually looks like something i would had enjoyed immensely as a kid.
Nice video taught me a lot!
Out of curiosity, did this come out before or after MUSE did Castle Wolfenstein? I just remember reading that one of the big deals about Castle Wolfenstein was it was one of the first games to use digitized voice, and I'm just wondering if this was made around the same time or made later or maybe even made before and if this game did it before Castle Wolfenstein.
I see leisure suit larry on the shelf back there, are you planning on doing a review, or have you done so already?
"The instructions instruct you on the instructionally instructionary construction of controls, goals and hairy moles..."
Have I mentioned that I love you?
Spent so many hours on this as a kid...thanks
I could swear you had already reviewed Quarantine.
This game looks trippy as heck.
I would like to see "day of the tentacle" being played. It's the first game I've ever known, and I wonder how it would be like to review it.
I was literally thinking about Space Taxi 5 minutes ago, ARE YOU A WIZARD LGR?
Does anyone remember Eagle's Nest? Was my fave C64 game when I was a kid
+1 to that. One of my all-time favorites.
I had this back in the day on the C64..your right I thought the digitized voice was cool...did not have the box though, for the C64 we had a lot of um...copied games lol.
Unlike the earlier systems like the Atari 800 and 400xl as well as Coleco Vision for which we had a lot of software and most of the add on hardware.
Oh, man, that game was so wicked :D
Muse Software. Well this game is MMMMMMMADMADNESS!..................Ah come on!
Cool game, although I have played a clone of it back then. I think it was called "Air Taxi".
Oh yeah loveley! This is in my all time fav TOP 5.
Hey LGR, did you ever notice that the box art looks like the Johnnycab from the original Total Recall? :p I'm not the only one who sees it, right?
Ty jsi čech, ne? Ugh!, stará klasika našeho dětství :D. Taky mi ji to připomnělo :). Dobrý časy..
0:46 live long and prosper
Im currently at season 4 of star trek enterpise and this cracked me up.
I was not impressed by the digit-speech. I was impressed that the taxi had "Good" physics.
You beach head fans might find this other youtube video amusing. My take on what would happen if Beach Head had a battle with the Bruce Lee video game... It doesn't end well for Space Taxi at the end! :P - Beachhead vs Bruce Lee Killing Space Taxi
There was an amazing version on the Amiga, might have been called AirTaxi though... Remembered the graphics being smaller tho ;E
Yay, I'm cool b/c I remember (and owned) Quarantine!
i loved this game when i was kid. i thought i had it on tape.
We need a screwed up quarentine remake.
