I mean she does hint at it a little in V2 when she calls Summer "super mom", but yeah Raven's a trash mom and human being and Yang probably got that immediately.
@Liam C I'm not 100% in this answer, but I think it's because Yang believed Raven was the person Tai made her out to be. Then when Yang finally meets her, she sees Raven doesn't really care. She spent her life chasing after her mom, and now that they're together, Raven doesn't seem the least bit amused. She doesn't even show the least bit of concern or love for her until they're in the vault.

TQM I don’t think they meant it in a rude way. Take Rwby vol 6 in the episode where they’re exiting the cellar. Yang immediately grabs Blake’s hand and ran, leaving Weiss and Ruby. What should’ve happened was all of them leaving at the same time. That’s just my opinion though and that’s what I think the guy was trying to say.
it is honestly one of my favorite parts about rewatching older episodes and volumes. seeing how the animation, direction, lighting, and everything started to where it is now? it's just wild.
I love how Yang is a foil for Adam like how Blake is a foil for Raven. The manipulation and constant questioning, not knowing who she can trust. Finally Blake can look to Yang who’s brave enough to say exactly what she means. And after years of being with people always leaving her to be the adult in her, and Ruby’s life, Blake is there for Yang to lean on and know she’ll be there. They’re strong and whole by themselves, but together they definitely compliment each other and fill in some blank spaces in each other.
during their fight, Adam becomes frustrated when Yang doesn’t directly hit him, the obvious reason is that he wants to block her strikes to power himself up and return the damage, but there’s a bit more to this on a symbolic level. Just as Adam needs to be attacked to power his semblance, Adam also needs to be attacked to justify himself, he needs people to try to hurt him so that he can hurt them in return. That’s what his brand is all about, people hurt and (probably) enslaved him once so he uses it as a reason to hurt and enslave humanity

“A piece of me is gone, and it’s not coming back.” That line to me felt like she was referring to something more than her arm. The fall of beacon wasn’t just her losing a part of herself, it was her losing someone who made her whole, Blake. She feels like since this has happened with her mother in the past, that this will be no different, that’s why it’s so hard for her to come to terms with this trauma. Hate the ship all you want, but don’t say it never had development, because it does, you just have to open your eyes to see it.
And to add on to this, Blake and Sun do have development, I won’t deny that, but Blake has chosen to see Sun as more of a friend or brother than a companion. Just because I don’t ship Blacksun doesn’t mean I hate it, same gos with Bumblbee, I respect that both had good development and both had a chance to happen, but in the end it’s all up to Blake. Don’t hate on the writers or say this isn’t what Monty would have wanted, because in all honesty, you don’t know what he would have wanted, maybe he wanted Blake and Adam to make up and get back together, you don’t know. Let the show be what it is, enjoy it and support it. If you don’t like what the writers are doing, then simply stop watching.

You can try and say Bumbleby is toxic but that’s utter lies! Blake slapped Sun, rolled her eyes and raised her voice, that is a toxic ship. Blake has never done that to Yang, if anything she’s just supportive when have you seen Blake furious at Yang? Yang was angry at Blake but for a justified reason Blake left her in a dire state of needing her, And in volume 8 (Spoilers for chapter 13..) Yang fell into the abyss, while they were warned about it Blake, Ruby and Weiss do not know the consequences, and while Ruby and Weiss were frozen Blake was already on the move throwing gambol shroud for Yang to catch, but she had hit her head and was dazed and or concussed and like was confused, their iconic moved pulled 5 time successfully, their 6 when Blake NEEDED not wanted to catch Yang. Blake LITERALLY went over the edge, Weiss had to use all of her strength to pull Blake back, and what was on her mind? Revenge, Blake spent no time trying to slaughter Neo she was furious, but.. in the end Weiss was tired from fighting cinder and could also fall into the abyss, and she had to make a choice is revenge for someone so close and so dear to her worth loosing someone for? The abyss has unknown consequences. And Blake is mortified, revengeful and swearing no time in giving peace to Yang. But she isn’t dead.. We have no idea what’s going on down there. Blake would’ve done the same to Sun, but not that extreme! Oh and just to let you know I was a blacksun shipper, until it got toxic as hell, volume 5 is when Blake and Yang have started DONT be salty over LGBTQ+ ships done right! Yang and Blake is quite realistic and relatable, I’m the more of the Blake in my relationship and my girlfriend is close to Yang. @S R. His entire character arc was revealed at the Fall of Beacon, as stated already. He wanted to destroy everything Blake loved, and for a time, he succeeded in doing so. Once that wasn't the case, there was no point keeping him around.
I’m one of those people and I only think that cuz I have trust issues like my brain is telling me that ‘he got stabbed twice then basically broke his back he’s dead) but the my trust issues and show logic is like: BUT PLOT TWISTS AND NO ONE WHO DIES ON SCREEN AND THEN WE DONT SEE THE BODY OF ACTUALLY DIE) ex: cinder fell into a hole type drop in a block of ice and survived, ozpin got murdered by cinder and came back as a voice in oscars head, and even when we saw someone die (penny) she came back, the only (main) character I remember we saw die and hasn’t come back before Adam got killed is Pyrrha. At least all the characters I remember
Why Adam is not alive In order to return Adam has to survive all of this: 1. His aura was depleted so he cannot heal 2. He was stabbed through the chest (which contains the heart and lungs, both are generally important to living) twice 3. He fell off a cliff 4. On the way down he hits some rocks, creating an audible crunching sound, and then continued to fall 5. He hit the water (water is not a cushion), in a manner that would most certainly result in further injury 6. Assuming he somehow survived all of that, Adam now has to survive from freezing and/or drowning to death on top of his other injuries, without an aura to heal 7. Speaking of drowning, some people might explain away Adam’s survival by saying that he is just hiding underwater, which assumes that he somehow survived everything mentioned above and managed to catch and hold his breath, here’s the problem with that: the two gaping holes in his chest, Adam would be drowning not by water filling his throat, but by water directly filling his heart and lungs via the holes puncturing all the way through his chest to his back, in order to prevent himself from drowning Adam would need to cover/seal these holes, which is would be difficult to do because A. there are two holes on both sides of his body, so four in total, Adam would need four hands to cover them, B. he would need to cover the holes before he goes underwater (he did not), C. Adam was losing consciousness when he went over the cliff, it's entirely possible that he was dead before he even hit the rocks, D. if Adam somehow managed to cover all of the holes then he would have to swim in a raging current with only his legs, and the water is still freezing,

I might sound like a white knight here, but just take a step back with me and imagine for a minute: Imagine being told something you had part in and now are working so hard on is "just bad fiction" because the rest of the fandom doesn't Like it. It's not considered real. Not canon. Suddenly your story, the world you built with your friends and sat in countless meetings for, isn't your story anymore. You know how shitty that feels? It isn't fun, buddy. People need to understand how much of an asshole move that is, to work for years on something just to get disregarded by your /own/ fandom. "Fan." Dom. I ship White Rose and you don't see me telling people who ship Nuts and Dolts that they're wrong because Penny and Ruby are 'just friends'. (Real talk, though, I do think that Penny is adorable and precious and must be protected at all times.) Also, RWBY has always not been good at dialogue between characters - it's an anime, what did you expect? It's decent a lot of the time, so saying that 'flirting' moments are cringe is like a very selective picking-up on flaws. It's RoosterTeeth's choice at the end of the day, and we just have to roll with whatever happens. So stop with the Adam-esque 'you said X so we're going to interpret it as Y' stuff and let us have our fun. God knows we're probably going to need it after the Volume 7 finale.

When just watching the show you tend to overlook their development until season 6/7 when it suddenly seems forced. But actually looking back on it the signs have been there all along :)

Brandon Ecklor, she felt so much relief there. But I found it so realistic that she’d still collapse and doubt her growth and promise to Yang “I won’t leave” like she did with Adam. She still felt guilt for leaving someone who became a monster who hunted her down and injured someone very close to her. That’s the level of manipulation Adam has had on her that will take understandably a while for her to overcome and heal from.
I don't know how anyone can see the way these two talk about and to each other and be like "Bumblebee is forced there is absolutely no foreshadowing or build up to their friendship and mutual appreciation"

“Some girl’s in trouble!” That will never get old. I appreciate Yang sparring with her dad, Blake reconciling with her folks, and I always love anything with Sun. Blake and Yang’s interactions and how they think of each other when they’re apart are alright. They could have been done better of course, but I don’t see them as terribly lacking.

Had to revisit this, god my heart 😭😭 Also I’ve always headcanoned that the first thing Blake liked/admired about Yang is what Ruby said-that she read to her when they were little. Even though she didn’t like it trust Yang at first, I like to think that tiny detail played a role in Blake choosing Yang as her partner (which know know she did since she was following her and intentionally made eye contact)
I couldn't help but realize that the RWBY team are inspired by fairy tales. Ruby is inspired by little red riding hood, Weiss is inspired by Snow White, Yang and Blake are inspired by Beauty and the Beast. Don't believe me? Adam's jacket logo on his back has a rose on it, Adam is obviously Gaston because he's so obsessed over blake, the way Adam died is similar to how Gaston's died by falling over a ledge, the song Nevermore is a reference to Evermore from Beauty and the Beast.

Seeing all of Blake and Yang's individual scenes really helps put in perspective the kind of development they had. It also makes it apparent how easy it is to let homophobia and group think persuade people. This development was blatant and in our face the whole time, I couldn't see it when I was a kid because I was so deep in the closet I thought I was a dude, but it's rather obvious now that I can see it like this and I've grown up a little. People cling to whatever excuse they can find when they're unhappy with how things turn out. Unfortunately it's very easy to yell and shout about pandering and disrespect to Monty, but people who enjoy the series know how things really are.
It's funny how most people say that the first 3 volumes is all about the fight and after that the story picks up, but maaan those conversations between them in the classroom, the one where Yang, Blake and Weiss are trying to sleep and the one after the fight with Mercury are sooo good. I can't imagine those kinds of emotional, caring conversation happening in these last volumes with so many characters and plot points going around. It's also worth noting that volume 3 "ends" around 22 minutes here and after that they don't actually talk to each other until the 1 hour mark... and then their relationship seems a lot less.. organic, idk.

TQM I don’t think they meant it in a rude way. Take Rwby vol 6 in the episode where they’re exiting the cellar. Yang immediately grabs Blake’s hand and ran, leaving Weiss and Ruby. What should’ve happened was all of them leaving at the same time. That’s just my opinion though and that’s what I think the guy was trying to say.

I love how Yang is a foil for Adam like how Blake is a foil for Raven.
The manipulation and constant questioning, not knowing who she can trust. Finally Blake can look to Yang who’s brave enough to say exactly what she means.
And after years of being with people always leaving her to be the adult in her, and Ruby’s life, Blake is there for Yang to lean on and know she’ll be there.
They’re strong and whole by themselves, but together they definitely compliment each other and fill in some blank spaces in each other.
during their fight, Adam becomes frustrated when Yang doesn’t directly hit him, the obvious reason is that he wants to block her strikes to power himself up and return the damage, but there’s a bit more to this on a symbolic level. Just as Adam needs to be attacked to power his semblance, Adam also needs to be attacked to justify himself, he needs people to try to hurt him so that he can hurt them in return. That’s what his brand is all about, people hurt and (probably) enslaved him once so he uses it as a reason to hurt and enslave humanity

That line to me felt like she was referring to something more than her arm. The fall of beacon wasn’t just her losing a part of herself, it was her losing someone who made her whole, Blake. She feels like since this has happened with her mother in the past, that this will be no different, that’s why it’s so hard for her to come to terms with this trauma.
Hate the ship all you want, but don’t say it never had development, because it does, you just have to open your eyes to see it.
And to add on to this, Blake and Sun do have development, I won’t deny that, but Blake has chosen to see Sun as more of a friend or brother than a companion. Just because I don’t ship Blacksun doesn’t mean I hate it, same gos with Bumblbee, I respect that both had good development and both had a chance to happen, but in the end it’s all up to Blake. Don’t hate on the writers or say this isn’t what Monty would have wanted, because in all honesty, you don’t know what he would have wanted, maybe he wanted Blake and Adam to make up and get back together, you don’t know. Let the show be what it is, enjoy it and support it. If you don’t like what the writers are doing, then simply stop watching.

Revenge, Blake spent no time trying to slaughter Neo she was furious, but.. in the end Weiss was tired from fighting cinder and could also fall into the abyss, and she had to make a choice is revenge for someone so close and so dear to her worth loosing someone for?
The abyss has unknown consequences.
And Blake is mortified, revengeful and swearing no time in giving peace to Yang.

Why Adam is not alive
In order to return Adam has to survive all of this:
1. His aura was depleted so he cannot heal
2. He was stabbed through the chest (which contains the heart and lungs, both are generally important to living) twice
3. He fell off a cliff
4. On the way down he hits some rocks, creating an audible crunching sound, and then continued to fall
5. He hit the water (water is not a cushion), in a manner that would most certainly result in further injury
6. Assuming he somehow survived all of that, Adam now has to survive from freezing and/or drowning to death on top of his other injuries, without an aura to heal
7. Speaking of drowning, some people might explain away Adam’s survival by saying that he is just hiding underwater, which assumes that he somehow survived everything mentioned above and managed to catch and hold his breath, here’s the problem with that: the two gaping holes in his chest, Adam would be drowning not by water filling his throat, but by water directly filling his heart and lungs via the holes puncturing all the way through his chest to his back, in order to prevent himself from drowning Adam would need to cover/seal these holes, which is would be difficult to do because A. there are two holes on both sides of his body, so four in total, Adam would need four hands to cover them, B. he would need to cover the holes before he goes underwater (he did not), C. Adam was losing consciousness when he went over the cliff, it's entirely possible that he was dead before he even hit the rocks, D. if Adam somehow managed to cover all of the holes then he would have to swim in a raging current with only his legs, and the water is still freezing,

S R.The show isn't that bad. It does have its ups and downs, but it's still got potential and is setting up for newer things.

(Real talk, though, I do think that Penny is adorable and precious and must be protected at all times.)
Also, RWBY has always not been good at dialogue between characters - it's an anime, what did you expect? It's decent a lot of the time, so saying that 'flirting' moments are cringe is like a very selective picking-up on flaws. It's RoosterTeeth's choice at the end of the day, and we just have to roll with whatever happens. So stop with the Adam-esque 'you said X so we're going to interpret it as Y' stuff and let us have our fun. God knows we're probably going to need it after the Volume 7 finale.

Brandon Ecklor, she felt so much relief there. But I found it so realistic that she’d still collapse and doubt her growth and promise to Yang “I won’t leave” like she did with Adam. She still felt guilt for leaving someone who became a monster who hunted her down and injured someone very close to her. That’s the level of manipulation Adam has had on her that will take understandably a while for her to overcome and heal from.

I couldn't help but realize that the RWBY team are inspired by fairy tales. Ruby is inspired by little red riding hood, Weiss is inspired by Snow White, Yang and Blake are inspired by Beauty and the Beast. Don't believe me? Adam's jacket logo on his back has a rose on it, Adam is obviously Gaston because he's so obsessed over blake, the way Adam died is similar to how Gaston's died by falling over a ledge, the song Nevermore is a reference to Evermore from Beauty and the Beast.

Seeing all of Blake and Yang's individual scenes really helps put in perspective the kind of development they had. It also makes it apparent how easy it is to let homophobia and group think persuade people. This development was blatant and in our face the whole time, I couldn't see it when I was a kid because I was so deep in the closet I thought I was a dude, but it's rather obvious now that I can see it like this and I've grown up a little.

It's funny how most people say that the first 3 volumes is all about the fight and after that the story picks up, but maaan those conversations between them in the classroom, the one where Yang, Blake and Weiss are trying to sleep and the one after the fight with Mercury are sooo good. I can't imagine those kinds of emotional, caring conversation happening in these last volumes with so many characters and plot points going around.
It's also worth noting that volume 3 "ends" around 22 minutes here and after that they don't actually talk to each other until the 1 hour mark... and then their relationship seems a lot less.. organic, idk.
Seeing all of this in one actually makes me think they develop a relationship rather than it just being forced
