    With AI-project manager tools doing great job in following-up, tracking work, etc,.along with agile/confluence JIRA, middle-management roles are fading away. Im a ex sr.project manager in Cognizant, who migrated to Hands-on role in product companies. Do you pay your plumber, electricain for delegating things ?? Shun-away the laziness of being a manager and get your hands dirty and start-working on core tech-problems.. Dont waste time trying to be come manager, sr.manager, director, sr.director, VP etc,. its a TRAP route, you will get thrown away one-day for SURE !!

      Your problem is that you worked in a HR firm. Go and see how important project managers are in a serious tech company. They make or break the most important projects.

      @@Aerrow62Get real man, everyone knows even in core IT sector the project managers are good for nothing, they or scrum masters will not solve any real project problems. They will at most act as a bridge for connecting relevant people or help a new project joiner in their ramp up

    If you are in IT and after 40 years of age if salary is the only source of income then you are f**d. One needs to urgently focus on creating other streams of income, however small they are. Upskilling, reskilling, certifications, MBAs etc are over hyped and only give diminishing results. There is a high chance that the new skills one acquires will be out of favor too soon with the advent of AI and rapid change in tech, processes etc. What one can do for other streams of income? One has to deep dive and find out suitable ones. The motto is it's never too late and never give up.

    The reality is in any big company, there are a lot of bullshit roles. Do you really need a SDM, TPM and Product Manager in a small project? Do you really need a Scrum master? All there are bloatware. In a booming market a lot of new roles get created and downturn, all such roles are emilnated.

    domain and tech skill always the king... never ever stray away from technical...atleast a % of your time needs to be spent in tech / domain skill sharpening.. else you will be on the chopping block - I agree with this guy

      Domain and tech do not matter 😂😂😂😂. Are you even in Corporate or a fresher giving Gyan??
      When chopping happens, they will never choose, It will be random. The person who eill fire you do not even know your performance or numbers, They will randomly pick employees and fire them.
      Amazon fired 35k employees within last 2 years, If you think a person working at Amazon was fired due to not having domain knowledge, you are delusional.

    In spite of doing all the points you mentioned,I was let go. The client wanted me but my company didn't care about the consequences. I am upskilling myself in AI and cloud but that didn't stop my layoff. With deteriorating market conditions, all companies are obsessed about reducing opex and middle mgmt is an easy target. In my case Ageism is also a factor so now I am preparing to do freelancing from 2025. Hope I will be successful.

    The post covid era has been VERY dark indeed.
    2021 was a year of over recruitment & salary inflation & the last 3 years have been just one layoff after another
    Now the AI pandemic is taking over & killing careers at an unforeseen rate

    I interviewed in Google 6 months back for level 9 ( Sr Dir ) .. $1M package Recruiter gave me a verbal offer but then they reneged the offer. I was upset but now very happy. My current employer pays 600k & Life is good sir

    Hi I need a Very urgent advice. Iam selected in cognizant technology for Hyderabad. Iam serving my notice period in TCS Kolkata. My last working day is approaching near and my BGV is still not cleared in cognizant. I was selected in 1 round only in TCS. Iam now fearing as their offer letter says termination ir bgv fails.     Answering yes or No to difficult question and risk taking capabilities are must qualities of directors and VP. Normal developers struggle to see end to end picture itself, without experience they cant give timeline for project completion itself. I see trend of techno project managers , sandwiches of technical lead and project & program manager is getting attraction recent market. But making department wide or group wide decisions vp is required.

    My request to all organisations, please start understanding the realities of the so called non technical managers, people managers who are core responsible for most of the project failures/delays. They will be taking unnecessary calls whole day and will research only on putting blames over IC roles

    These IT companies employees job status is such that, its an bubble on flowing water not sure when it will burst open, its uncontrolled. Like that employee job fate, they will discontinue saying N number of silly reasons. There should employee friendly policy or insurance kind of thing to survive for this situation
