I would honestly forget the idea of a new rear left window and just cut the whole bent part and build a like cabin you can access from the outside with lock that you see on like austrailian overlanders
This was a great way of doing what you felt you needed to do, with the skills and money you actually have. I love the approach. I probably would have knit-picked things 1000 times more, and never gotten half of this done. You made it look like a weekend.
Cut off all the back/roof and do the same to one at a junkyard then weld the junkyard one on. you could get it looking pretty good. But either way impressive repair so far

It depends on the state, for example in California we only have to pass an emissions test, which I think is dumb personally. I think all cars should have to go through a safety inspection including headlights, taillights, tire , brakes, and what not. I think it’s silly that California only requires emissions . everything else can be dangerous and they don’t care.
Pretty good save. If it were me, I probably would have just put a roll cage, hacked the back top off and run it Bronco style. Maybe make a custom soft top.

No diss it is alright for a day in the garage, personally as another xj owner I’d have chopped it all off behind the front windshield squared the sides a bit and threw a cheap cage in and a tarp for a roof and called it a day.
It’s not very cold or wet in socal, you would just need a roof for sun protection here. But the way you guys did it wasn’t bad for keeping it mostly enclosed.

A lot of people would have thrown in the towel on a car this badly damaged. Kudos to you for actually toughing it out and fixing the jeep! You're completely right though, 100% this thing needs a roll cage, like I wouldn't drive long distance in it without one.

Nice work friend!!! I would personaly cut away the dent rear, and turn it into a four door pickup truck by welding a panel behind the rear seats! ;-)

Should have chopped the rear roof off a donor jeep and welded it on and deleted the rear side windows by installing a recessed equipment compartment

I bought a Cherokee looked like the doors were bent but the hinge area was the culprit so do some checking the door looks straight to me.
Looks good from far but far from good as the saying goes 🤣 adds character to it I think...
