      Rab Pennie this band actually has more tats and muscles than most punk bands. More muscle than NOFX and A Wilhelm Scream combined, more tats than all the Fat bands of the past 10 years.

    This is outstanding. What courage it takes to give that kind of speech before a show. The support they get from the crowd. And then singer AND crowd start that song, you feel, that everybody has been waiting for that exact moment, the energy bursts open.
    Special greetings from drummer to drummer!
    Love their records, love their message. Respect yourself, respect others, fight! Cheers everyone

      I'm a really anxious person, and I've been getting more used to playing these types of crowds, um, and I just wanted to try to create an intimate space by talking for a second. And I said this before, something that I said when we played ONC[?], I look out at these crowds and I just want to hold everyone and I wish I could hold everyone so close to me and love all of you so much, um, and I wanted to- [Cheers]
      I wanna ask, like, I wanna ask everybody that's here, "why did you come here?" Now I just want us to think about that. Like, why are we here? Is it 'cause we worked all day and we wanna just cut loose-and there's fucking nothing wrong with that. Is it because we carry around a feeling with us all day and all week and we don't know what to do with ourselves and we come to something like this, not knowing what to expect, but we just want to feel something? Um, and I think we're out here because we've been hurt one way or another by this world, and also we have all hurt each other, and our skin has grown hard and our eyes have grown dull from the cruelty of this world that we all experience every day and that we all entail and throw ourselves and put on to other people every day. We've all been calloused and we've all been cruel and we've all said and done things, looking back, that make our stomaches turn, that we wish we could undo. But we're only the people that we are today because we finished being the people that we were yesterday. [Cheers]
      Like Lucy from Profile[?] said, "We will spend our whole lives growing and changing and learning," and trans-women know this more than anybody, one of the hardest things to do is to forgive ourselves. In Olympia, where we're from, I work at a little [-?] homeless shelter and we had a staff meeting the other day, and we were talking about the need for self-care. When we go home and we're doing the work of bearing witness to so much pain and so much trauma and trying to support folks, while also trying to strive for having an anti-oppresive space and trying to hold this duality of people that have been so harmed and that are taking it out on anyone around them. And someone at the meeting that I work with said, "Before we can meet people where they are at, we have to forgive ourselves. We have to love ourselves to do the work of nurturing others and giving to others. Because if we don't nurture ourselves, we have nothing with which to nurture each other," and I want everyone to remember that because our community can be so unforgiving and the outside world can be so unforgiving, and if we don't forgive ourselves, we have nothing to give other people. And we need to remember that. [Cheers]
      The last thing I wanted to do really quick was-before we played-was I just wanted to have a moment of silence, which I think can be really powerful, and everybody that wants to-if everyone in this room can close their eyes and just say to yourself in your head: "I am forgiven. I am loved. I am nuanced, flawed, imperfect, tender and gorgeous." And you are all loved, and we're G.L.O.S.S, thank you. [Cheers]

      You're right. They told me that I couldn't stand in the front because I was, quote, a 'cis white male'. Real bummer though, because I dug the message.

    • @nihilistcipher
      @nihilistcipher 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amir Jafari yeah of course, all cis-Hetero males are evil oppressors of the patriarchy. You standing in the front was representative of your cis privilege, and so you had to give up your space for a marginalized person instead. That’s the doctrine which these SJWs follow. I’m not surprised at all...
