There should be more documentaries on conventional military units. Special Forces training stuff is great and is used for recruiting young and impressionable people who will most likely never get into SF. They could find purpose in other jobs and will have to if they join the military and can't make it into SF.
I was in 82nd for 2 years before being levied out to the 2nd AD. While at Bragg had 31 jumps, 3 weeks at Recondo School and a week of CCF. Every month or so we’d get someone from Smoke Bomb Hill( Green Berets) who thought he’d transfer into the 82 and cool breeze. Well it took less than a week for them to come to the realization that they F’d up. If you tire of the SF don’t go thinking life gets easier in the Division because it doesn’t. In the 82nd your azz gets smoked all day everyday. It’s best for you to go to a leg unit if you’re wanting to get away from it all. It’s even worse for those misinformed come overs from the Marine Corps. There’s a reason the 82nd Airborne Division is the toughest and most combat effective fighting force on earth. My advice is avoid going there unless you’re some kind of sadistical freak. That is all thank you.
Heck yeah jake zweig checking out afas. Hit them with the facts of life. Green berets the original A team the best at going behind enemy lines to build an army and conduct unconventional warfare. Light em up jake lovin these react series.

Jake, you are a former Navy Seal officer, nothing to sneeze at! However I’ve always wondered why didn’t you go to West Point instead of the Naval Academy? Then just become a Green Beret instead of a Seal? I’m sure considering you are a Seal, you would’ve made it. Just curious

Can I substitute an hour of BJJ training (30 min of technique and 30 min of hard rolling) for the Ruck Monday and Wednesday. I would only be rucking twice a week?
Already compromising and quitting huh. Do the hour of BJJ training on top of the ruck. Supplement it WITH the rucking. Not replacing. Remember that THIS IS FOR YOU. Impress yourself. Not others.

I’m not in the army yet but from listening to veterans and reading posts, you have a higher chance of getting selected if you already have been in the army for some time and or you came out of the 75th ranger regiment. Most GB’s are in their 30s. A lot of it has to do with life experiences and maturity. If you think they will pick you up off the street being in your early 20s good luck. You would have to out compete everyone else. If you fail your 18x selection, you go to wherever the army needs you and your locked in a 6+ contract doing something you don’t like. Be careful. If everything goes according to plan for me, get a 6+ year contract with a 35N job and a possibility to attend Rasp. Attend airborne school and ranger school if I do well and leadership likes me, then on my 3 year of my contract put in my packet in for sfas to get a chance at it. If it all fails, at least I still have my 35N job.
