It would take many more years of life experiences and the growing willingness to watch this (in syndication) that I realized that this was a good show. I'm now 56 and I believe it to be interesting but more important the characters are very believable because they are truly "down to earth" and very wise.

      We often missed the first or second episode of a new series. Word of mouth got viewers in by October/November or the show got cancelled after the first 13 ep package.
      Remember WKRP? "Turkeys Away" saved that show and it was successful for years.
      Star Trek was saved by "Balance of Terror".
      The first episodes were toss always by programming directors. Then there was often "the Episode Before Christmas" when people stopped watching series TV for a month.

    • @CieJe.Alexander
      @CieJe.Alexander 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@STho205 Now they hype the Season premiere like the show depends on it, so the viewers won't watch all of the other Network's premieres.
      But never again reaching the level of the legendary event known as 'Who shot J.R.'
      In older times each of the big three ABC, CBS, and NBC, had a week of airing premieres so they wouldn't overlap and the viewers could sample all the available series, before settling into their schedule of favorites.
      Only to, always, have your #1 favorite be cancelled after about 3-10 episodes completely leaving you hanging. Unless you were lucky, and the gave you a 2hr. Made-for-TV special which tried to answer, ALL of the show's questions at once. And maybe if you were very lucky they might just bring the show back with a few alterations in casting, new sets/locations, and a slightly shifted premise.

      No bo and Luke? Wasn't it Mitchums son and another guy ( can't remember name ) kinda bragging about women they got pregnant, illegitimate children and boozing smoking like a more realistic dirty version of the Dukes,?? Too bad that they didn't make the show more like that, Those two were squeaky clean

    For those of you wondering like I was, the General Lee entering Atlanta scene was filmed on hwy 10{John Lewis freedom pkwy}between Blvd NE & Jackson St. Bridge heading West bound. If this is wrong somebody please correct this, it would be interesting to Dukes fans everywhere.

    I wonder why they dubbed or looped in the words "Jessi Colter" everytime Daisy mentioned her song? I get the impression this was changed later in the filming because, well, Jessi was Waylon's wife and was probably available for filming. I get the distinct impression that whomever they mentioned on-set must've cancelled or not shown up at the last minute.

    Waylon Jennings was correct about the General Lee. When Bo and Luke expected trouble, they both know they can count on General Lee to get them out of sticky situations! He never let the Duke Boys, Uncle Jesse, Daisy Duke or anybody who got behind his steering wheel down.
