John Walker is such a great concept, he’s Captain America but who he would ACTUALLY be (because Steve is basically as idealistically good as Superman). He’s not a complete bad guy but he’s easily manipulated and he has a temper. Wyatt Russel’s performance as him in FWS was probably one of my favorites in the MCU.
So, super soldier powers is more realistic than being a consistently good person?

Steve and Clark Kent have flaws, they aren't perfect, their both human, but they both choose to overcome their flaws because they know they can
John could have overcame his anger dispite his situation, but sadly, he let his vanity and impulsiveness get in the way
Yes, the Government Had a HUGE roll in John's mental decline, and that's a shame because it's all too real.
but even then John could have followed Steves example and truly proved he could live up to the legend

@@YAHSHUA777you're forgetting that the seerum amplifies everything inside someone. John was shown to not have good mental health due to his past in the army and he took the seerum when he was even more unstable. You can see him struggling to keep his cool in the 4th episode and after Lemar's death he snaps. What "saved" him was that moment in the 6th episode where we realise he's still capable of making good decisions
I liked him in FATWS, feels like he got a bad rap and sam and bucky treated him like shit just because he accepted a job that neither of them was willing to step up and accept themselves. Of course he ended up going too far but in a way that was fairly understandable, its like you said, living up to steve rdogers is nearly imposssible.
Honestly, MCU Judge Dredd feels like the best place to take his character. This is a man who tried to do the right thing, wasn't taken seriously, had a moment of bad optics and was betrayed by the government he gave everything to. Normally that would be a villain origin story, but this is a guy who just cannot bring himself to turn his back on the Stars and Stripes. Making him a secret fascist super-cop is a logical step for his character and creates an interesting dynamic within the Thunderbolts so that it isn't just Suicide Squad v 3.0.
Also, if they do give him a shield again I think it would be neat for him to have one with different associations, perhaps more of a riot-shield style that insinuates authoritian violence rather than patriotic defence.

9 times out 10 when someone (usually a person who doesn't read comics) says how much they hate the idea of Captain America, because he thinks everything the American Government does is perfect and right... who they're actually describing is John Walker.

John Walker was actually the co-Leader of the Thunderbolts in the 2010s. Sort of the "Xavier" to Luke Cage's "Cyclops" (Walker was injured and even in a wheelchair at the time).
US Agent is a great character to discuss issues. Comics are at their best when they're commenting on the real world: X-Men for the rights movements, Civil War for the Patriot Act post 911, and the original Captain America representing the frustration of WW2 before the US joined the war. He felt like a more grounded Captain America, a realist vs an idealist. I just wished we saw him and Cap butt heads in the MCU.

I feel like the power decrease on 4+ cost cards could be a play on his insecurities and self destructive nature.

John is my favorite Captain America. Hes very much a good human being doing his best
My favorite Captain America pastiche is Aaron Fischer introduced just a couple years ago. He is the only Captain America that absolutely doesn’t feel like a cop.

He had another effect when datamines, he was a 2/6 that gave your other cards there -1 Power, which just was a negative Cap
I did not think about it, but Peacemaker is 100% the perfect adaptation of John Walker (well maybe 95%) and I would say including the character development for the most part. Walker is not a bad guy, he's just doesn't have the moral compass that Steve does.
I think the idea of him being more of a cop now, makes sense, in that HE is not inherently bad, but if you put him in a system broken and/or corrupt he will do bad things.
Yeah, they are pretty much identical characters. They both lack Steve's moral compass and are steeped in the right-wing Real American TM bullshit that makes them willing to do horrible things because it would be the American thing to do.
With much less nuance but this is also what i felt from the MCU Ronan the Accuser, he felt much more straightfowardly evil than his very Lawful Neutral portrayal in the comics, but later in the MCU you get the vibe that the Kree are a much more flawed system than they ever come across as in the comics and in a sense Ronan was still every bit as "lawful"
@@pjlusk7774 I don't know if he's very right wing or stuff like that, but he seems to submit to authority and try to keep the peace, even if he has to do horrific stuff to help America prosper.

US Agent also used the same outfit that Steve Rogers was using in his time as The Captain. So yeah, it was all pretty obvious.

I think that actually would've been a very cool card, and feels like it could fit way better. Impulsively it's got more power than cpt america, but in reality it would end up with less power output if he were put in a deck that had Cap in it too.

Unexpectedly interesting
taking merchandise and mixing it with stories of every medium is cool as heck and other channels should do it, because when things are done right it is an amazing way to have all art forms incorperated into what you love.
I would say the MCU John Walker is faithful in the general comics John arc but very very different in terms that they DID tone down the character considerably. MCU John Walker is a puppy compared to Comics John who might as well be a rabid wolf by comparison. Also John has appeared in Thunderbolts stories before the recent issue of the team so he is known for the involvement with that team.

He should be a 1/2 who gives +1 to all cards on another space, not ongoing but on reveal. So he’s a 1 cost but he doesn’t make sense till turn 3, but he doesn’t essentially what cap does but worse
I _think_ you can maybe argue Walker's effect is sort of a representation of him being sent out by the government to take down threats pre-emptively in that very American sort of "destabilize this regime before it can become a problem for us" way, like how they sicc him on the Flag-Smashers in the MCU, again, kind of like DCEU Peacemaker. But that can still apply to a lot of characters beyond just John Walker _specifically_, so I don't know.

I was so excited to get my spotlight key and aim to get US Agent... and the goddamn game is next to completely broken to the point where keys and caches just aren't even showing up anymore.
I hope USAgent gets better treatment and a better redemption arc then the rushed Hackjob we got in FATWS.
MCU Walker is already a more likeable character than comic Walker was.
As a collector, I'm waiting for the movie in case Figuarts will repaint their US Agent figure. (They got a blue one, but never released a black version)

Captain America represents America's proffessed ideals. US Agent is much closer to American reality lol
Walker is my all time fav, I even like him more then Steve by far. His a badass that doesn't take lip, his a foot in mouth, condescending and not very PC kinda guy. But his like that with everyone, even those he'd give his life to save. Which some fan's often mistake him for being fascist or bigot, which isn't true at all. His flawed, and was/kinda still is patriotic to almost a fault. You know, there are roles and leaders in place that make those roles that we should follow. But not dictatorial or forced, he has fight against people like that. But cause of his patriotic believe, he was lied to and used more then once. Thankfully he always pulled it together, and does the right thing. His run in 00 in Maximum Security had him going pretty hard into F you I'm running things lol Like they turned him up to 11 and what he laid into Steve at the end of book 3. Revealing why he was doing it and who for, and the shocked look Steve had was priceless. I'm not a fan of the cop look they gave him, its not his style, though not a cop I'm down for him locking up super villains. This continued in his 2001 solo run, but he was more turned up to a 8 instead of 11 this time. Sadly writers have forgotten the things his been through and what progression the character has made. Liked in 2019 Captain America Vol 9, Force Works 2020 and his solo run 2021's American Zealot. He made a pretty good character development in those, like becoming disillusioned with the government. It sucks that the writers ignore the change, and it kills me cause I want to see it farther explored. It also sucks that they downgraded the character and often forget him. I'm not big on the new look, but this card makes it look great. But I kinda wish they'd keep the star on the shield, and go with a red and black and red for it. The flag on his chest is fine, but I'd change the white to black, and keep the white side lining and star. Go back to the all black sleeves, and go back to the classic red boots and gloves.
The info was a bit fast, and only really focused on his start. But still, for a 12m The Nando Cut did a pretty good job. Walker did join the army, but the war was over and he didn't see any action. He did get his powers from the Power Broker, and did plan on becoming a wrestler for him. Totally unaware Power Broker was a criminal that used the people he gave powers too. He was only gonna do it to pay Broker back. But Walkers agent convinced him to become a hero instead. Cooper did pick him to be the next Cap, and over Nick Fury and Nuke. The thing is Walker didn't want to be Cap, I mean for one they had different ways in handling bad guys. But mainly cause he wanted to be his own guy, the Super Patriot. He did ok as Cap, but they wanted him to act just like Steve and even had him trained to fight just like him too. His two friends that didn't join him, well he had no choice cause the government didn't want them. But they didn't know that, blamed him and outed his identity. The watchdogs (possibly under orders from the Red Skull) killed his parents and dud lost it. Which lead to him killing Life-Wing and Right-Wing. In the end, Red Skull pretending to be Steve tricked Walker into think it was all Steve's doing. But the truth come out and Steve with a bit of aid from Walker beat Red Skull. But cause of all the stuff Red Skull did to make Cap (ie Walker) look bad, they wanted Steve back or replace Walker. Walker convinced him to be Cap again.

US Agent is the character people who don't read comics tend to think Captain America is, a government stooge full of dumbshit Fox News talking points.

It is a testament to how few non-white people there were in the Marvel Comics bullpen at the time that it took several issues before anyone realized that giving a black guy the codename Bucky would be a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad idea
