I wish the technician in the emergency room had watched this video. She just strapped it on my leg and sent me on my way. Never inflated it or showed me how to use it. I wondered how this loose, heavy thing banging against my broken ankle was supposed to be helping me. This video definitely helps.

Mine is also very painful. Its day 1 using it and i realised they gave me the wrong foot side. I broke left ankle and the aircast is for right side as this regulating things are on the inside not outer

    • @bunnytoes7200
      @bunnytoes7200 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Ken_0323mine are on the inside too but they are not foot specific. You wear a long tube sock. If like me you have incisions on both sides. I have a long plate and screws on the outside. On the inside two screw tips stick up under the skin forming like a tiny skin tent. Yikes. Pressure runs between Incision below and tiny skin screw tents above. I found that cutting a bandage gauze in half, placing one half over each incision and screw tents, wrapping with tensile bandages, not tight. Then taping down with the special gauze tape, not on your skin like I did at first. Then stretch your long tensile tube sock laterally to prepare it to go over your foot. I gather up the sock so my toes go right in, then ease the sock slowly over the wrapping, stabilizing the wrap so it stays put. It takes effort and time. Once on then I put on a thick sock for cushioning. In goes my foot. It helps to have your foot elevated on a few pillows or a wedge available on Amazon for several minutes so any swelling has some time to decrease. You want it elevated above your heart. Then your foot will go in more easily. It’s really tiring but it does get better over time. Good luck!

@bunnytoes7200 Thanks for posting. Just had surgery today, and they put it on while I was out. I've been struggling all night with pain control. Releasing some of the pressure on the outside incision did more to help than IV Dilaudid.

It took me about 2 months to be able to put my heel down but even then the doctor said that I had to keep wearing the cast when I went out, went to phiso for about 2 months after that, it took a very long time ,never will go back the way it was, even now,9 months later I still feel pain sometimes, have to be very careful, I find the more I excerise it.the better it feels. Good luck with it.

I just got this for my sprained ankle. I couldn’t walk on it at all but now I can with this thing. It is bulky and a pain to take on an off but there’s no pain when I walk and it secures my ankle. As long as my ankle heals I’m good.
It’s not level with my other foot but luckily I have highheals to level it out. I think if they made a shoe to level out the height of the other foot it would be easier to walk. I like it and it’s better than having to use crutches. The doctor said I can take it off while I sleep too. Works for me.

Is the body weight still on the foot or does the tall walking boot transfer the body weight to the lower leg, thereby relieving the injured foot from the large body weight force???

Iv just had worse nights sleep with this boot on, Iv been messing around putting air into it, I thought to release the air you move the button to the blank space but now I know you press that button to release the air, like other comments the doctors don’t show you just fit it and send you out, it is heavy and bulky wish I had something more lightweight on my leg as I can’t remove it at all.

I broke both of my legs a week ago. My left leg will heal with a boot, my right leg will require surgery in the morning. This is the second boot I’ve tried and I’ve found it to be very effective! The swelling has reduced substantially in just a day after having used a lesser quality boot initially. It is cumbersome, but I don’t think there is any way around that. I’m much happier with this one.

I’ve found mine invaluable. I wear mine 24 hours a day and sleep with it on. I’m on my 9 th week with it and 2 wedges have been removed. One left to take out and after a week I can remove the boot and put on a shoe. I refused the operation cause of infection and the chance of getting covid was high. When I went to my local hospital at 8 weeks the dr asked if I had removed all the wedges? I replied I thought that’s why I was here today. He said you should have started removing one at a time on week 6? No one told me plus which wedges do you remove first? He told me the top one. Wrong you start from the bottom and work upwards. I asked the guy later who fitted my boot and he told me. Since having the boot I have continued to certain things to keep active but I am sceptical about wearing a shoe. I thought I would have another x ray to show it’s healed or healing? No mention of physio and due back at hospital in may 2022. I live in uk.

Give a patient minimal info and send them home with a device they don't understand how to use or how it works. Then if something goes wrong, they're in the clear.
I got no info, just a quick do this, this, this, while in shock of having all normal cast removed!
It's not comfortable, not easy to maneuvre with crutches, it makes me feel my hip is going out of its socket from the weight & angle

@@judysayeau4083 I'm still unhappy. I've had the thing on for almost 4 weeks, it's not comfortable at all, st least not with an operation scar on either side of the ankle, where the air-"bubbles" press against the forming scar tissue. It hurts! If I pump it a bit less so it presses less, the damned boot slides down, and pulls my foot and subsequently the poor ankle.
I'm in tears daily - combination of stress, worry, pain, frustration, anger.

TIPS FOR PERFECT CREAMY POTATO SOUP
Cut your potatoes into pieces no larger than 3/4″ and try to keep them around the same size so that they cook at the same time. Nothing worse than biting into a crisp, raw-inside chunk of potato!
To make this soup nice and creamy, I recommend pureeing about half of it either by using an immersion blender or by transferring a portion of the soup to a blender, pureeing, and then stirring the pureed soup back into the pot (maybe you recognize this technique from my corn chowder). If you want a completely smooth soup you can puree all of it, but I prefer to have a few actual pieces of potato, so I think pureeing half gives it the best taste and texture.
Don’t return the bacon to the pot until after you have pureed some of the soup. It’s best not to blend the bacon 😉.
The ancho chili powder is, in my humble opinion, a must and gives this soup the most perfect depth of flavor. I blend it into the potato soup and also sprinkle it on top before serving. I recommend adding just a 1/4 teaspoon and then taste testing before adding more.

This would make a great comfort food for this cold and windy weekend (is there anything more cozy than a pot of soup simmering on the stove while the wind is howling at your window? Anything!?), and while I don’t follow football at all I do know that this would be great to make ahead and enjoy during the big game this weekend.
Who really cares about football when you can make yourself a Super Bowl of soup! 🤣😂 OK OK I’m sorry, enough of that!

Course: SoupCuisine: American Prep Time: 30 minutesTotal Time: 30 minutes Servings: 6 people Calories: 480kcal Author: Samantha Merritt || Sugar Spun Run
      Ingredients
2 ½ lbs gold potatoes peeled and diced into pieces no larger than 1” (this was about 6 Large potatoes for me/1.15kg)
6 strips (uncooked) bacon cut into small pieces
      3 Tablespoons butter
      ⅓ cup all-purpose flour 42g
1 medium yellow onion chopped (about 1.5 cup/200g)
      3 large garlic cloves minced
      4 cups chicken broth 945ml
      2 cups milk 475ml
      2/3 cup heavy cream 155ml
      1 ½ teaspoon* salt
      1 teaspoon ground pepper
      1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon ancho chili powder**
      2/3 cup sour cream 160g
Shredded cheddar cheese, chives, and additional sour cream and bacon for topping optional
      Get Ingredients Powered by Chicory
      Instructions
Place bacon pieces in a large Dutch Oven or soup pot over medium heat and cook until bacon is crisp and browned.
Remove bacon pieces and set aside, leaving the fat in the pot.
Add butter and chopped onion and cook over medium heat until onions are tender (3-5 minutes).
Add garlic and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
Sprinkle the flour over the ingredients in the pot and stir until smooth (use whisk if needed).
Add diced potatoes to the pot along with chicken broth, milk, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and ancho chili powder. Stir well.
Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork (about 10 minutes).
Reduce heat to simmer and remove approximately half*** of the soup to a blender (be careful, it will be hot!) and puree until smooth (this is about 5 cups of soup, but just eyeballing the amount will be fine. Alternatively you can use an immersion blender.).
Return the pureed soup to the pot and add sour cream and reserved bacon pieces, stir well.
Allow soup to simmer for 15 minutes before serving.
Top with additional sour cream, bacon, cheddar cheese, or chives. Enjoy!
      Notes
*I recommend starting with a more reserved amount of salt and then adding more as needed, the amount of salt needed will vary depending on the type/brand of broth you use
**If you haven't used ancho chili powder before, I recommend starting with 1/4 teaspoon and then taste-testing before increasing to 1/2 teaspoon if you like the taste.
***If you want a completely creamy soup you can puree all of it, just puree in batches, about half of the soup at a time. I prefer my potato soup with actual chunks of potatoes and prefer to puree just half of it.

Nice recipe, calls for 21/2 lbs. of potato’s, which is good as other recipes have a crazy low amount OF POTATOS recommended 4 potato soup , Yknow?
Still, I added carrots and celery tons of fresh garlic in the beginning, middle and end of cooking!
Also I added the dairy later as I let the soup cook some while the bayleafs I added married the broth, vegetables and bacon fat and I have a Cajun spice I put 2gether myself with chili powder, salt, turmeric, parsley etc,. so that was in there 2.
Then the dairy went in .
Awesome with Parmesan instead of cheddar, fresh chives
      moi!

I just made this tonight and it was so good!! I added 3 diced carrots, 2 diced stalks of celery, and a pinch of garlic salt. This was very tasty, and the technique of blending half the soup and returning it to the pot made this the perfect consistency. I will be making this recipe many more times this fall and winter.

Just got this from the urgent care center after finding out I have a broken toe. It actually feels comfortable but the size and stiffness of it will make you limp more. It's difficult to drive in it. But I'm getting use to it.

Please tell me you weren't driving with this boot on your pedal foot.

The boot is so big you can’t drive in it, and you won’t be insured

You aren’t supposed to be driving with it!!! That’s very dangerous.

I also have a broken ankle which I broke 5 days ago and they told be to keep it on always for at least 6 weeks, it is very uncomfortable and heavy, can not walk on it either for 6 weeks, very frustrated!

@@charmainebeutel392 I am curious how long did it take you to put your heel flat on the ground? I broke my ankle and had surgery a month ago. They took off my cast three weeks ago. I am gaining range of motion each day, but I cannot put that heel back. It's very frustrating.

Not a "how to use" video, just a "how to put on" video. Why do these videos never demonstrate actually using the product?

The correct question is, why do the people fitting us with this contraption, not take the time WE need to grasp it, and dare adjust it!?
I was given a supporting bandage at the hospital, and sent across town to an ortho-store to buy my boot. Said store's access is at a wheelchair slant, but on crutches?? Not happening.
Thankfully, the girl came out to the car with the boot & put it on. HOWEVER, I was freaking out, because she first removed the plaster support & bandages! Nobody had said this would happen!
As for socks, are you kidding!? I'm not pulling a sock over a broken ankle!

    • @sarahgilbert8036
      @sarahgilbert8036 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I actually ended up with a "crater scar" from a deep blister caused y the boot!
No one told me I should put a sock on, no one put a tube style sock on my foot & leg until the check-up 6 weeks after having bought the thing!
To say that I'm mad, is an understatement.
I now have two long surgical scars, plus this crater!
So that means pants & long skirts for the rest of my life.

What's the best way to deodorize the bottom rubber where your foot sits? I take it out and wash it with dawn soap n dry it, Still stinks a few hours later when I take it off. None of my shoes smell at all, why the fk does this thing? Dam it smells like death. My foot sweats like hell in it. I scrub it, put powder in my socks n all, my socks don't smell just the rubber.

My daughter drilled tiny holes in the bottom to improve ventilation. Now I've got one. So far no problems and better than a plaster cast!
