Freddie is the best. I love his gym. I am just a middle age guys who wants to learn a little boxing and lose weight. I go to his gym everyday like clockwork. I always feel welcome and never made to feel inferior by all the pros. I wish Freddie and his gym many more years!
You know, I used to work out at King’s Gym, in Oakland, when I was a teenager. The gym’s most celebrated student was Andre Ward. I wanted to train again when I was in my 30s. I was told that there were very few professional boxers who trained there. The majority were business types/lawyers who worked in downtown Oakland who would come in and work out, early in the morning, before coming into the office. They pay their dues and help keep the gym open. These business types come into the boxing gym to train in boxing to stay in stay in shape and, maybe, fantasize that they are going up against Ali when sparring.

People who've played different sports that require it probably pick it up quicker. I played volleyball for years, so I was already pretty experienced in that area.
Freddie still has lots of talent which he gained over the years from real world experience. His student its a very attractive and beautiful young lady who will have the capability to defend herself if the need should arise. Essentially, the phrase "Punchers are born and not made", means some people have a genetic predisposition to be run faster, throw a ball harder, leap farther, etc. In boxing, some people have the genetic predisposition of punching harder naturally. We have all known people who are exceptionally strong without working out. Though punchers may be born, a regular fighter can definitely improve their punching power by using correct punching techniques.
Its a mix of having explosive muscles and a killer instinct and tecnique i think and a body that can handle the punischment. Body type has less to do with it i think , i am lanky , small wrists and ankles but i can swing fast by that , i never had a hand injury and i crack the heavy bag without gloves , the nails of my right are comming off but no injury.

He was actually better on the speed bag than Muhammad Ali was before the fight with Larry Holmes. If you’ve seen that footage you know what I’m talking about. He can’t hit it twice in a row, real sad, everyone wh then put he fight on after seeing that should of be put in jail.
She already improved in just that clip- at the beginning she made it bounce a lot whereas at the end she got the sound Freddie was looking for in following through 🤙🏽 legend
Its crazy the difference in quality in Freddy training videos compared to other training videos online. Most others will tell you the left hook is a long range strike. But basically Freddy version is quick short range with same impact. Viscous punch with speed of a jab and the power of a traditional left hook

I mean I had uncle who was great fighter. I mean my mum use to tell me that he was 7 years younger then her but at age 16 he could fight anyone... he was 6 foot tall and 190 pounds weight. People was afraid of him, but at age of 32 he had same disease as Freedy, when he was 45 he couldn’t hold spoon. So I couldn’t believe that he was so terrifying and strong as my Mom use to tell me. Until once I didn’t bring pads home, he hold it and he was sharp and fast as me. And damn he had it, I mean his hook uppercuts and right cross was almost perfect. I mean he really could knock me out even at that state as he was. That is true boxing spirit.

Upon target contact with the foream contracted at a 90 degree fixed positional angle: After contact and when you begin to follow through: Does the forearm remain in the fixed positional structure? Does the forearm start to contact toward the bicep after contact? Or does the forearm begin to extend away from the elbow upon post target contact?
He said if you miss (on the inside) you'll get them with your elbow. When your fist hits the target your elbow should be locked at 90° and your shoulders rotate so your arm and shoulder are in a straight line. Most of the power is coming from the rotation of your hips.

I also fought out of Boston area around the same time as Freddy and I’m now training fighters and I have to fight the ignorance of the internet constantly in regards to speed bag work. First thing to remember is the light bags were the first and preferred method of training next to sparring and rode work. Second thing to remember is every fighter to become great in the history of boxing used the speedbag so if your telling people the speed bag is useless then your saying you know more about boxing than all the great fighters and all their trainers. With boxing dying a slow death from lack of knowledge and decline of skills it’s so important to draw from the legends inside the ring and on the apron

Ali showed improvement when he got in the ring to show some boxing. Freddie was the same. My boxing gym works with Parkinson's people.
I think it's due to concentration, my aunt had Parkinson and she would do the same thing everytime something kept her focus.
