    I was going to skip through majority of the video so I could just get some ideas for when I build my own speed bag platform. I ended up watching the entire video cause this guy was hilarious to watch. It's like that teacher everybody showed up to class for, even if they hated the subject. Not to mention the platform turned out looking really good. Needless to say, subscribed!!

    Excellent videos. I had an issue with the speedbag shaking the house, being too loud in the house, and pissing off my wife when it was attached to the house. About 17 years ago I bought a free standing dual station (Speedbag and heavy bag) and put it out on the deck but it was too loud so it ended up in the yard. The issue with keeping it out on the yard is that the stand would rust the backboard would rot and warp. I could deal with the rust but trying to hit a speedbag with a warped backboard pissed me off. I did something similar to what you did but instead of wood I glued together a few pieces of Synboard (a.k.a. PVC board). I had the guy at the Lowes Hardware store cut the pieces to size for me (I left them square), I took them home and glued them together, and bolted them to the stand with log bolts. It has been outside a few years now and there has been no rotting or warping and the bag rebounds off it very nicely. Probably the best backboard I ever had.

      Same here. I bought a speed bag stand and it's a piece of shit. Whole thing fucken shakes. Even worst then the wall mounted platforms. The thickness really absorbs it.

      With those combination stands you pretty much have to put 30lbs of sandbags on the top of the platform to keep it from shaking.

    FYI...those little numbers at the base of your chuck represent torque values for the clutch drive. Most drills have at least two settings, one being the drill function, which is a straight connection between the motor (via reduction) and chuck, and the other being "screw", which engages the clutch function, "slipping" according to the number selected.. Simply select a low number to drive your screws in to avoid over tightening...no need for going "slow with just bursts". Constantly getting on and off the trigger will shorten the life of your drill.

    I would try it while it was still square. Maybe the extra mass would make the bag faster??? Use a 6' ladder to rest the platform on and add spacers to raise it up so you could do it with one person for the attachment.

    Very well done! I kindly ask you to answer me two questions. Do that additional wooden layers help to reduce the noise caused by the speedbag in use? The second question is about the swivel. I have a swivel with a kind of "chain-parts" which seems to be quite loud. Is the title-swivel you recommend noticeably quieter than the "chain-swivel"?
    Thanks for all your tutorials! They are great! Greetings from Berlin, Germany

    • @AhmedShraim
      @AhmedShraim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you foe your kind words. More layers will make the platform less noisy but won’t make it quite. The bag will still make plenty of noise. But vibration is the real enemy. The more vibration in the platform the louder it will be. The swivel you have could become less noisy if you oil it in all the moving parts. Hope this helps mein fruend

      @PopeyeBerlin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @davidlehmann5550
      @davidlehmann5550 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The boards they sell are pine - softer. And, they usually have a radius edge (I.e., the edge is rounded over). The radius edge makes the edge of the platform have gaps between the layers. If you don’t want the weird gaps you’ll either have to buy non-radius edge edges or do a ton of sanding. clean up the edge you will spend a ton of time sanding.

    As a wood worker and a speed bag enthusiast, I’m thinking… why not leave the wood in square form. It will save tons of time not having to cut and sand, plus it will be much heavier as your not reducing wood/weight. Of course if you don’t have room for a square platform then I understand making it round, but since there isn’t any laws of physics saying a platform needs to be round… why not make it square? I’m about to build a new setup, and have been pondering the question of round vs square….

    • @darinallen8313
      @darinallen8313 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      24 in diameter platform is a common size so any speed bag should be fine. Where size makes a difference depends on what your skill level is. Its easier to learn on a larger size speed bag than a smaller size speed bag. I have two different size Cleto Reyes speed bags, small and x-small. The x-small requires more speed, better timing and accuracy than my small size. If you are new to speed bags then I would suggest the medium size Cleto Reyes. I am only using Cleto Reyes as an example since that is all I have, you can use cheaper brands and be fine.
