Thanks! I am always unsure how about 'listenable' I am, but I'm just talking about characters from a game I love so hopefully I'm not too jumbled and my passion shines through!
Elektra is definitely the fighter from this first Marvel wave that I can see myself playing. The others not so much. But I can't wait to lab her a bunch!
@@BakedGoods really depends on how versatile she is. That's the reason I love yen so much. I can play different matchups different ways to give me the best chance at winning.
Without playing a single game with or against her, I feel like she is super vulnerable against top tier characters, especially against the big 3. Also, one turn kill combos can be problematic (Beastform etc.) Because of these, I expect her to be below average on tier lists. Anyway, looks like a fun character. Hopefully, BoLv2 and Marvels will arrive soon in my country and can test her.
I am conflicted on this opinion because Elektra has a OTK of her own! I guess we'll have to wait and see what her matchup spread looks like, and I am one curious cow
She seems REALLY good. She may seem like she has little health, but with the resurrect, essentially having 16 health, plus the crazy amount of Hand sidekicks, along with some of the resurrect strats you mentioned, I think she is going to be extremely strong!
Her health total is so deceptive... the sidekick swap card, 5 value intercepts and meatshields in general make her a lot harder to sink damage into than it would appear I really wouldn't be surprised if she ends up being a mid to low A tier fighter
Seems like I'm in the minority, but she's really not my style of design. As an example, I was playing with my partner (Bruce Lee) who killed me pretty early on with 13hp left and 4 cards in hand. I had only 3 cards in hand - Fist and 2x Mesmerise. Came back, plucked both defense cards out of her hand and murdered Bruce with Fist, Fist, maneuver (drawing Whirlwind), Fist, Fist, Whirlwind. That doesn't seem interactive or fun. There are games where there is some back and forth and it feels like a boss fight with a bunch of minions. That does feel quite fun and thematic. But more often than not, if she works as intended, it can be rather silly.
That combo does seem busted at first glance, and I also think the interactivity (or lack thereof) could be a downside But before we assume the worst, I think we should acknowledge that there is potential for counterplay. You can save your feints and movement for that fist/resurrect turn and make sure you have lots of cards in your hand for when Elektra does revive. I also think her sidekicks really aren't a threat because of the lack of cards they can use, so I think you can play very aggressive against Elektra and not get punished like you would against other characters. Time will tell and I am very curious about the meta impact Elektra will have.
I see three main problems - low health means she is vulnerable to auto damage and big attacks. Second - predictability - you just feint clan attacks and value block Electra and should be fine. And third - maybe it just seems so, but it's like she lacks of attack value with almost no auto damage, and if opponent is able to reliably block your attacks each time - maybe even exhaustion won't help. So age looks like bloody Mary - definitely interesting and unique, but not among strongest. Also maybe I'm wrong, but all three characters from this set look like you should be more aggressive towards them, than usual. Bullseye has no heal and low health, Electra needs to die, daredevil needs to get his reshuffle screwed... Probably I'm wrong, but from first glance in seems so
I would agree, I think these characters were designed with a 'faster rate of play' in mind, despite two of them being good with exhaustion And yes I think Elektra has some pretty clear weaknesses to offset her strengths - she's very predictable and won't be able to do much outside of straightforward gameplan.
I will say the fist combo is actually sort of hard to pull off, as many card effects either move the defender or deal damage back or something else which can disrupt it. Scary potential though
I think double mesmerize makes that combo possible, although with 3 cancels/movement/damage defense cards in hand you can actually avoid getting obliterated Like you said, scary potential!
I definitely liked Elektra less than the rest of the characters in the set. The resurrection mechanic is something new, but hardly original. The most unusual thing about her is that she plays attrition from the very first moves, hiding and running around the map. The question is how interesting it is. It seems to me that she looks more like Invisible Man than Bloody Mary, as somebody wrote in the comments. Well, against this style of Elektra, I have only two words - Little Red Riding Hood and Ghost Rider :)
Great points! I really hope it's not optimal to play 'hide n seek' during the first life because that does seem dull. And specific characters will certainly be more suited to eliminate her sidekicks than others 🔥🏍 vroom vroom hehe
big brain move: hide Elektra's ability cards from your opponent so they think she's just a 7 health, 20 card character. Win every game.
