Awesome I'm glad you enjoy them! I know most people watch to see the new content, but seeing as I'm a competitive player and love to talk strategy, I figure it's good to throw in some of that stuff even if it's just tidbits.
I like the idea of shuffling all scheme tokens and all versatile tokens together and randomizing them when you play one of the maps that uses tokens. That way you’re not guaranteed to get the same thing every time. Otherwise, it could lead to a lot of cheese. I definitely want to keep the maps and tokens open for tournaments. I love the extra level of strategy it adds.
I think we are leaning towards keeping the item tokens that specifically came with the board, but randomizing the starting positions of each token. I'm really interested to see what cool strategies people come up with as well.
Ty for this opening box again ! :D I'm really sad that we probably not be able to have these sets in France because of licenses ! But glad I can see these characters through your videos ! ;)
I can't wait either! I'm so far behind on Marvel because of WoC. I haven't even played Redemption Row outside of my initial game and 1 more play of Moon Knight.
Soon for BoL2! Since we just finished up the WoC tourney. As for the new Marvel fighters I may do a tier prediction video leading up to the next tournament.
So I played my first game with this set the other day. I was Daredevil and my opponent was Elektra. DD seems kind of insane upon first impression. I remember back when the cards were initially spoiled, I thought Devil of Hell's Kitchen only reshuffled if your deck was empty (the same requirement for it to boost to an 8), which I thought was fair and would really reward timing your Devils and sequencing your other cards properly to get the most value. However, the shuffle being unconditional, not even requiring you to win the combat, seems just so far above the normal power curve for cards. I would say do your best to Feint or randomly discard both copies, but with x3 Breathers in his deck as well, he basically has 5 copies of Devil by default. Even Bigfoot would have trouble stopping all of those, especially if he can cycle back at least 1 Breather with one of the Devils. It's obviously too early to say for sure, but my guess is that DD will likely take a spot among the top tier fighters in the game, and most fighters will struggle to deal with him.
Yeah my initial impression is that he seems ridiculous. But I think that is just because we are thinking in the context of fatigue and overall deck value (which in his case is infinite). I've heard from some people on the Discord that he is fine because he has no draw power and not a ton of defenses, so you can often deal him damage enough to close out the game. But maybe with optimal DD play that changes. We'll see!
Yeah, this set is looking nuts! Can hardly wait to try it! Also, with all these new fighters joining the game, do you think you'll be able to do a new tier list soon? Or are they coming out too fast to properly gauge all of them properly before a new playstyle shows up?
I do plan on doing a new tier list soon! But only adding BoL2. I like to give time to accurately rank them. Though I might start doing sort of a tier list prediction video before tourneys and then my actual tier list after.
Hey John, can you please explain the mechanics of gaining all those extra goodies in Bullseye's effects when he already win this turn? Is he able to win this turn only if his first action is attack, and he wins that combat which then sets him up for that bonus in effect for his next action?
Correct it only sets up for the next action (or any additional actions) in that same turn he won the combat. Then on your opponent's turn he is no longer considered to have won a combat THAT turn.
I think a lot of players shared that same expectation. And some of them very well could be, but I think it's too early to tell. Can't wait to start testing and find out!
Great Vid! What do you think about the 3 player mode for Unmatched? My friends always seem to think that the 3 player games are unfair for the person that gets ganged up on so we never really play it.
Thanks! I actually enjoy them for a casual game. Because while somebody might get ganged up on, it's usually not the whole game because strategically that's not in the best interest of all players. In the game I mentioned here I got down to 1hp early by fighting with Elektra. Then we both decided to call a truce and gang up on Daredevil since he was basically full HP. Once Daredevil was brought down to about 7hp I tried to kill Elektra again because she was my biggest threat. So there is a lot of opportunity for back and forth targeting as long as everyone is trying to win and not just killing another player out of spite. Definitely not a competitive format, and not my preferred way to play, but still a fun and casual alternative.
Honestly I don't have more than 1 game played with any of them. So it's really too early to tell. It does seem like DD is ridiculous and shouldn't lose. But I'm sure there are weaknesses that you wouldn't notice at first glance before playing him.
I was conflicted on which meme to add: YES! More box opening videos! In fact, make a video ANY TIME you open a box! NO! No more box opening videos! In fact, you are never allowed to open a box again!
To be honest - I am a bit disappointed with hero figures and card backs in this set Figures seem as a default figures with no imagination at all (compare to Moon knight or ghost rider from previous set) and card decks are just meh.(Electra's is pretty good though) But oh boy, what a card art itself! Also for some reason bullseye has a strong joker vibes for me, maybe because of his smile on almost every card. Considering strength - Daredavil basically comes down to if opponent can cancel his deck reshuffle card enough times for him to get crucial fatigue damage. Tbh I thought daredevil will have any special rule on fatigue, but it isn't so. He doesn't seem strong at all, but I am always wrong in my predictions, so.. Bullseye seems vulnerable to feints too, with his most valueble attacks are easily predictable, but the ability is just crazy. Problem is that he is alone and there is no meat wall he can hide behind as other ranged heroes. And Electra seems pretty drawn dependant in her first hand draw.
I would agree the figures for this set are not as cool as the Redemption Row ones. And yeah that grin on Bullseye to me just makes him look like a gremlin haha. I can see the Joker. As far as strength, they all seem decent at least. Daredevil I don't think will run into fatigue because its hard to play feints at the perfect time, and he also has the 3 breather schemes to get that card back to hand. Bullseye is pretty fragile with no sidekicks and low HP with no healing. But definitely has a ton of aggro combo potential. So I'm sure he will have his place in the meta even if he's not good against certain fighters. Feints do wreck him though. Elektra seems incredibly strong in the fatigue game. So she will likely be similar to IM in playstyle. Could be oppressive in certain matchups. Hopefully not the majority of them. I try to stay open-minded at the start and formulate my own opinions based on personal testing. Looking forward to doing so!
Looks like these characters are interesting to play and they have unique mechanics, but I'm afraid that they are too powerful for the most of non-marvel character. And the minis are quite boring (Elektra is ok)
Elektra is definitely stronger than most fighters. Daredevil can be beat by a lot of fighters but is tricky to play against. And Bullseye can be strong but is very volatile like the Raptors. They are all definitely very unique.
@@zeroskatr12 I'm a bit afraid of Bullseye's 5 space atack radius and those and "if you won a combat this round" cards in combination with 2 auto wins. On the other hand, he doesn't have cards with 5-6 basic atack so those 2 auto wins could be the only 1st action wins and he should choose when to use them and what "if you won a combat this round" cards play after
@@ingvar3072 yeah he definitely can be scary. You just need to learn how to play against him. And of course some fighters do better than others. If you can't get out of his attack range, then you might as well move right up adjacent to him. Then if he wants to double attack you he is opening himself up to a potential double counterattack unless he has a movement defense.
Well you gotta define "better". Do you mean stronger fighters for the competitive meta or more fun? I guess either way both sets have very meta-relevant characters. Elektra is a top tier that is often banned in Arsenal format. Daredevil, Luke, and Moon Knight are all high tiers that have been getting tons of play. Bullseye and Ghost Rider are both more niche picks, but have seen some success as well. So pretty even there. Overall I would just choose based on your opinion of the actual characters and who you like, because both are good!

Is there a mention of what happens to the Sai card after Intercept? Discarded or is it just in your hand and the opponent knows its there?
