Hi, it’s me, one of your 10 male subs 😅😂 But for real, I just enjoy your point of view on a variety of topics. And I think most of your information/opinions are relevant even if it’s not specifically about my physiology. The principal still stands.
you have really equipped me with a critical eye toward products like ritual, native, and other pseudosciencey things. because of you, i was skeptical of ritual and i was giddy to see u made this video!
I’ve been using ritual vitamins for around 3 or so years. At face value, it seemed like a great product and been taking it without much thought. (The mint tab does mask the fishy taste but I still experience fishy burps 😵💫.) Out of ignorance, I thought I didn’t need to use any other supplement(s) but now I’m making the switch to something that covers more bases. Thank you for making this video, swayze !
The fishy burps WERE the worst and I must be sensitive to smells because I didn't think the mint tab did anything to "mask" the sent. Worst smelling vitamins ever. The influencers did really sell me on these though, but when I plugged them into chronometer it was nowhere near covering the essentials. You can get a lot more for your money from even the most basic supplement brands.
Even if your not Vegan, it’s great to see this; and your thoughts. Some people don’t get enough of xyz, but at the same time I feel it needs to cover things that almost everyone is lacking.

As someone with a thyroid disease, I just want to say I appreciate multivitamins that don't include iodine. When you have a thyroid disease you need to be really careful about iodine intake, and a multi with iodine can be too much very easily.
I have thyroid disease and you get thyroid disease because you have vitamin deficiencies! Iodine helps your thyroid glad to function and it keeps you cancer free!
This is actually a really good supplement too. The background of the founder is completely science and medical not alternative medicine. She's a biochemist from harvard. This is one of the few companies that does third party testing for heavy metals which is not a requirement but should be. The founder is very opposite of pseudo science so there was clearly no research done before the making of this video. My priorities currently are DHA and D and no supplement compares to this one as far as sourcing, purity, third party testing and an actual background in science. I personally take iodine and the only thing I agree with in this video is you would still need to supplement if you are pregnant and a vegan but the women's multi is great and still needing to supplement does not negate the quality of the product.
As someone who also has a thyroid disease, low iron and low iodine, along with vitamin deficiencies is what causes thyroid disfuntion. Our bodies need iodine so I take Dr Group nacent iodine supplement.
Thanks for talking about this! I was intrigued by these, because of the inclusion of DHA in the multi, but, the cost, and the exclusion of nutrients I did want was a deal breaker for me too!
I remember hearing about a study where those who supplemented with folic acid (the synthetic form) who had the gene variant not only didn’t absorb it but it caused their body to not even absorb the natural folate in their food. They tested this by studying the women who had neural tube defects and noticed high levels of folic acid in their blood, concluding that despite taking it their body didn’t absorb it. Apparently there is a test women can get to see if they have this gene variant before conceiving because it sounds pretty risky.
The MTHFR gene variation is pretty well documented and relatively common but the medical conundrum here is that only folic acid has been been studied that shows a decrease in risk of neural tube defects in the fetus. Other forms of folate are processed better by those with MTHFR gene variations and do help with the individual's folate levels but they have not been studied to see their effect on neural tube defects in fetuses. The CDC still recommends folic acid over other forms of folate for all pregnant people regardless of MTHFR status for this reason. It's very interesting to me and seems like something that should be investigated further.
@@erinmeadows14 yeah because if a third of women have this gene variation that could essentially make folic acid ineffective, that almost seems like more of a risk than just taking extra folate even if it hasn’t been well studied. It seems like they should do a study with the natural folate to resolve this.
These kind of videos are the best! ❤ Also, your willingness to turn down paid sponsorships for products you don't think are worth the money demonstrates commendable integrity that doesn't go unnoticed. I hope you know that.
It's also super important for people to get their iron levels checked before taking a multivitamin to determine if they need iron or not. Not all vegetarians/vegans struggle to absorb non-heme iron. For many, our iron levels are within normal ranges or even on the high side. Taking a multivitamin with iron when your iron levels are normal can potentially lead to dangerously high levels. This is especially important considering most vegan multivitamins come with a lot of iron.
As someone with hyperthyroid disease that is very sensitive to iodine, I appreciate a vegan multivitamin without iodine. It is so hard to find them! Even a small amount of iodine will affect my thyroid.
The research on magnesium is actually quite interesting and shows how little we know yet about our ideal amounts. Hi! I've been a subscriber for about a year now, and I just wanted to start off by saying thank you for all the videos you put out. Your content played a part in me finally going vegan, and feeling like I had access to information to do so safely and successfully. So thanks :) I really enjoyed the video, but while watching I noticed something that's been niggling me for a while. Quite often you link to items on Amazon, and I wondered what your take is on using sites like Amazon? It's an ethical debate I've been going over in my head for a while, what with all the publicity over their sub-par labor practices, and being that your veganism is primarily ethically motivated I felt your input would be interesting/ valuable to me. If you see this message, thanks for taking the time to read it. I hope my question doesn't come off as nit-picky, it's just something I've been thinking about increasingly. Keep up the good work, I always look forward to your next upload! (And I am also one of the approximate 2% of male viewers in your audience, but I think we all have a good time regardless :D)

Thank you for this video! I’ve also been taking the Deva prenatal (through 2 pregnancies and postpartum). I think it’s a great supplement and love that it shows daily values for pregnancy and lactating.
you are so snarky here, lol love it. when I started to look into like ritual and care/of, I also didn't like the vitamin levels they actually presented. also, as someone with hypothyroid, I need selenium supplemented in my diet so ritual was a no go. also why spend $30-$45 for your vitamins? just gives me Halo Beauty vibes lol.
Personally, I don't pay much attention to RDA, it's so outdated - they put up the appearance of updating 7 or so years ago, but it's still basically the same as it has been for some 60 years. Having said that, thanks for this video! I am (like many I assume) deeply impacted by packaging, product appearance, etc. I confess, I love Ritual when I first saw it. These were very hard for me to resist - they look *fabulous* . I never bought them because my love of a *_great look_* does not totally blind me to all other factors. This brand is ridiculously expensive and it just does *not* put up when it comes to ingredients.

I was trying to get another bottle o' b12 and compared to last year EVERYWHERE stocks mainly methylcobalamin, at least in my country. It was so annoying and a lot of the cyano options had fuck all b12 in them.
As someone who recently transitioned into being vegan (started in May), I am still learning a lot about the various vitamins and everything. To be fair, I grabbed a multi from Amazon said it was made FOR vegans and figured I'd be fine. I guess I never really gave it much more thought than that.
I really hope it works for you, because it didn't even work for most influencers, I wish you the best of luck despite probably not even knowing objectively how the body works
@@JoseRivera-rl3qv That is strange... 5 minutes BEFORE commenting on this 'wishing me luck' you run on paragraphs trying to analyze me and calling me out on things I have never said or done... then calling the vegan movement a religious cult. I really don't want your support, I'd rather you stop lecturing people on this part of the internet... as you just stated in this comment above "I wish you the best of luck despite probably not even knowing objectively how the body works"

I’m not vegan and I don’t seem to get enough vitamin C without a multi. Like 1.5 cups of cherries and 2 cups of watermelon is 1/2 of my recommendation (from Chronometer) and I don’t like oranges. Same with magnesium. chronometer repeatedly tells me i’m getting 1/2 my recommended magnesium and vitamin E. Also usually low on Omega 6 (from plant oils), but I don’t supplement that.
As a guy who watches, i get your demographic is woman, but I love that you're a truth teller and also I wouldn't mind trying to understand you ladies hahaha
I"ve been taking ritual for a couple years and they do taste minty and not fishy at all which is nice. I'm vegetarian and eat limited dairy so I wanted the iron and B12. After over a year I had my blood work done and found that my iron was still low even though I was supplementing with Ritual (I wasn't tested for other nutrients). I had to add a ferrous sulfate supplement in order to get my levels where they needed to be. I never got around to finding other supplements for my needs so I'm still buying ritual though it is expensive.
This going to be good! I've been pestering all my friends who are on social media to watch your video on AG1 greens. I even convinced someone to not fall for these overprized health supplements just because they look asathetically pleasing and influencers are paid to boost about it
The D Vitamin's amount (2,000 IU) is good, I agree and fully support that; but - *only 8 mg Iron???* No, they're kidding us here!! They're just sittin' 'n' laughin'!! What's 8?!? It's no more than nothing!! 😂 And - on their other so-called "multis" - no Iron at all - but they *do* add the completely unnecessary magnesium??? *I* would not spend a single buck on _their..._ "supplements" LOL
I take magnesium because I get muscle spasms when I don't (twitchy eyelids). Is there a separate deficiency that could cause this which magnesium might be masking?
I started taking this multivitamin after seeing influencers talk about it and seeing how “clean” it was advertised blah blah blah. I was at the Dr’s maybe 2 weeks later and the Dr got SO mad at me. He was like “DONT EVER TAKE THIS. NONSENSE.” Because my labs were the most perfect he’d seen all year (his words) and it was absolute bs for me to take these supplements. If you have a proper diet, and no known medical conditions, you do NOT need to take vitamins daily. It’s all marketing and bs. The pills are pretty though.
I liked them because I liked the convenience of having them shipped to me on a regularly basis and the taste / smell (other vitamins made me nauseous and vomit). But at one point, I stopped taking any medication (due to non-medical issues) including the vitamins, obtained a backlog and canceled the subscription. I'm not yet finished with the ones I have. I don't know what I'll do when I'm done.
I was not a fan of the ritual vitamins, but I do like the protein powder. The vitamins caused nasty horrible burps and a lingering awful taste. The protein though is the only protein powder I have not had an allergic reaction to so I don’t have a lot of options 😂
I think the telling thing with Function of Beauty is that youtubers who do promote it don't keep using it. They use it the once and then swap to something that isn't sponsored.
Please look into MTFHR heterogeneous and MTFHR homozygous. It will make more sense why it’s better to use methylated folic acid and methylcobalamin… especially for pregnant women. I understand why this specific product falls short but that genetic mutation is very common and many people have no idea they have it. People like myself cannot absorb folic acid and b12 vs someone who does not have this mutation. Methylated versions of these vitamins ensure absorption. Better safe than sorry.
Liked the video. Very well thouth. I am taking the DEVA complete multivitamin since moved to US, I found it a very very good multivitamin. When I was living in Ireland I was taking the Boots multivitamin, which is exactly the same as DEVA with exception of vitamin K. One problem with US it is that when I arrived I went to CVS, Walgreens, Publix trying to find a vegan multivitamins and there wasn't any!!!! That was disappointing and that first impression turned out to be true for grocery as well. In Europe veganism is much more advanced. For vegan multivitamins in Ireland any pharmacy you can find at least one vegan multivitamin option. So I ended up buying DEVA online, which I am quite satisfied...
I have taken Ritual for a little over a month now. Not impressed by this above other vegan vitamins. The algae oil is not as smelly in the bottle, but you still get the "fish burps" just like a non-vegan omega... 🤢
Are Dove deodorants vegan now?! I heard they were a while ago, so started buying them again, then heard they weren't, that they'd just got cruelty free certified. I'll be so pleased if I can buy them again!
I would actually prefer a multi that uses the actjve form of folate. But thats only because of new research showing a positive correlation with EDS. I also think its beneficial for those with adhd and autism. But I am far from the norm
So I've been taking Ritual vitamins for about 4 years now and took the prenatal through my second pregnancy. Admittedly, I def got sucked into the gimmick. I've become more suspicious lately with the beauty type vitamins they've been marketing and just haven't made the switch. I think this video is my motivation to do so. Lol.
are there multivitamins you think are quality and worth the money? I am low in D and B12 so I especially need those but I am getting so overwhelmed by the options. I found these and then watched your video and now I don't want to buy them lol
Can you get Herbaland gummies over there? Specifically the women’s multivitamin gummies and the B12/D3 I’d be interested in. It’s a Canadian product so I’m not sure you guys have it in the US. Thanks for this video 😊
I really liked the One a Day postnatal vitamins while I was breastfeeding because they were essentially a less-iron prenatal and the iron in prenatal as rips up my stomach if I’m not like full of food when I take it
Thanks for this video, Vegan here so confused what do lol. I have been taking ritual multivitamin and now I am worried they will not be helpful enough. I just purchased the brand titled Country Life Max for Vegans Multivitamin and Mineral Complex. If you have the time could you tell me if you think this one is better? Sorry I am a baby vegan (2 years) and I am still learning how to get the proper nutrients. Love your videos.
Used Ritual for two years until I saw your first video about them. Hate that I fell for the marketing thinking it was the best option for me. I'll say the essential oil tab thing in there was really nice. But yeah I feel silly now that I thought this was special and worth the cost.
Would you say there are any types of diseases/disorders that benefit from more magnesium? I ask because I have stage 4 endometriosis and read that magnesium can help with period pain. I decided to go ahead and give supplementing a try and it’s been a night and day difference. I went from throwing up, missing work, near blacking out to just mild/moderate discomfort on my first day and feeling fine for the rest of my period. I understand causation/correlation, but this is the only thing that I’ve changed so I tend to believe it’s a result of taking daily magnesium. Could it be that I benefit strictly because of having a reproductive disorder?
I did decide to start the 18+ and I'm breastfeeding. I'm always tired so I hope it works but let me know if you have a different suggestion because I don't know anything about vitamins.
please could you review the Heights multivitamin? they’re very popular in the UK and they seem science based but I’m not an expert so maybe I’m just falling for their marketing 😅 thanks Swayze ❤
Ngl, I sometimes buy native deodorant because they have really fun scents. But ya, the price and “natural is better” marketing are bothersome. But, like…. Mint chocolate cupcake, snickerdoodle, and other fun scents? I would love to find other brands doing those.
I would love to hear your take on hunting for ecological purposes. For example, I’m from rural Pennsylvania and we have a problem with overpopulation of deer. Not only does it throw of the ecology, but they’re the cause of severe car accidents. I can’t find the stats for 2022, but I’m 2021 deer collisions were responsible for 5,700 car accidents and 13 fatalities in PA alone. I would venture to guess it’s higher. My mom and others I know have hit them and not reported it either because the damages didn’t justify the annoyance of insurance involvement or (in the case of a young friend) they couldn’t afford to repair the damages anyway. Anecdotally, I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve almost hit one going 40-65 mph. What do you think about these instances? My instincts say that hunting in these scenarios is justifiable. It benefits ecology, human society, and saves the lives of unsuspecting humans (call me speciesist, but I put human lives above other animals). I also believe that it’s better for people to use to meat than waste it. Despite feeling this way rather firmly, I can’t do it myself which does make me feel a bit hypocritical… maybe in a world where enough people are vegetarian/vegan that it’s hard to find people to use the meat. I can’t help but sense a moral dilemma here, though. And this is a controversial one - don’t come at me, I just can’t ignore difficult topics. It’s easy to make this justification for animals because we recognize that there’s a gradient of sentience between species. What about humans? Don’t you think in there might be a gradient of sentience among humans at the extreme ends? We don’t murder humans with intellectual disabilities even though they strain our economy are in some cases likely have less sentience than others?? (maybe I’m completely wrong here - and maybe this isn’t even understood - so please correct me if I am wrong). You can note the distress that this may cause the family, but from a strictly risk/benefit analysis would that really outweigh the benefits? Again, not calling for genocide here. Just trying to talk out what I feel are inconsistencies in my own logic.
Just curious, you mention some items you do use like drug store shampoo (herbal essences) or dove but those aren’t cruelty free. I’m not saying this to police you but just curious about veganism and not finding cruelty free items?
Love seeing so many bros in the comments. Thank you for watching, guys!

I was trying to get another bottle o' b12 and compared to last year EVERYWHERE stocks mainly methylcobalamin, at least in my country. It was so annoying and a lot of the cyano options had fuck all b12 in them.
Geriatric is over 50?! 😂 I think it’s considered over 65 and when you hit 50 you’ll want that distinction made clear. Great video!
Well actually sadly, when you’re pregnant over 35 doctors also consider that geriatric pregnancy 😮scary I know…
As someone who recently transitioned into being vegan (started in May), I am still learning a lot about the various vitamins and everything.
@@AwkwardPain you never said? You're writing not talking btw, And I got the screenshot
@@JoseRivera-rl3qv Fat does not make you fat... I don't beleive I would ever say that it would (one of the claims you made.) Pretty much the rest of it was wrong, too.
But sure, show the world this screenshot of yours.
If all you have is your ability to harass people online (at least you chose me, because I find it amusing)... BUT it's pretty sad, really.
@@AwkwardPain you don't believe it? Why you put the comment in the first place, there's the screenshot bruh
Would love to hear about your current multivitamin brand recommendations for vegans, currently looking for a new prenatal. And for young kiddos too!
I personally like the goofy way you say "shirts and totes" 😆
I even convinced someone to not fall for these overprized health supplements just because they look asathetically pleasing and influencers are paid to boost about it
I love ritual! I’ve only been taking theirs the last two years and fixed an iron deficiency. Maybe every body is different.
B-but Swayze, they look so sciencey; doesn't that count for anything!?
I’m 1/2 of the dudes who watch 😭
I'm one of the two dudes who watches your videos, and for two very important reasons
Glad you made this. I wouldn’t pay that much or do a sub for vitamins but was curious.
The mint tabs really work. Smells great minty/vanilla-ish.
I didn't know I was in such a minority watching your videos lol
something about it can taste fishy, my mind wondered after that
Thank you for this informative content! It’s very useful
I feel like the biotin in the pregnancy one is to trick people into thinking the vitamin is making their hair grow when in fact it’s the pregnancy
POP! Paps On Point
As a (cis) man, I only come to this channel for practical hair care advice, nothing else. Just get pregnant, why didn’t I think of that? ❤️
Dude nr 2 reporting!
I don't know what I'll do when I'm done.
thanks for the video!
Thank you! Found this informative
I was not a fan of the ritual vitamins, but I do like the protein powder. The vitamins caused nasty horrible burps and a lingering awful taste. The protein though is the only protein powder I have not had an allergic reaction to so I don’t have a lot of options 😂
The ritual multi vitamin made me feel sick to my stomach.
If unnatural vegan created a line of vegan supplements I'd buy in a heartbeat!
She is the reason I buy deva vitamins lol 🙌🏽
Thank you for this 💕
I think the telling thing with Function of Beauty is that youtubers who do promote it don't keep using it. They use it the once and then swap to something that isn't sponsored.
I'm a gay guy watching your channel since 2018, do I matter? 😂💜
clinical-backed lol. thank you for breaking it down. so many new words for me
It was cool to hear your take on this. The boob thing at the end was great. 😂
I’m a 24 y/o vegan female. Which multivitamin do you recommend??? I feel so lost choosing one when there are so many on the market. Help!
Deva whatever thingy
Oh no. I take these. I thought it was great that I didn’t need a separate DHA and multi. Well…guess I am switching now.
If I ran a supplement company I would be too scared to offer UV an endorsement deal!
“I will pay you $1,000 a month to forget we exist.” :)
Deva need to sponsor you!
"There are just two dudes who watch my channel" 👁👄👁 ok i Guess
My DHA supplement has some nice citrus flavor to cover the smell
I like the Alive gummy multivitamins. The packaging says these are dairy free and vegetarian, and I am okay taking these.
I have taken Ritual for a little over a month now. Not impressed by this above other vegan vitamins. The algae oil is not as smelly in the bottle, but you still get the "fish burps" just like a non-vegan omega... 🤢
17:38 yes mam please talk more about them
Any recommendations for a good multivitamin?
Are Dove deodorants vegan now?! I heard they were a while ago, so started buying them again, then heard they weren't, that they'd just got cruelty free certified. I'll be so pleased if I can buy them again!
I don't know about older lines but in 2022 sometime they came out with a deodorant they market as vegan/plant based.
Healthy people do not stink and therefore do not need any deodorants.
@erinmeadows14 oh that's great! I'll have a look, thanks 😊
Lol.
I like them but they’re pretty expensive so I had to cut them out of my budget. I always still take a B12 anyway.
I’m one of the dudes that watches the channel!
are there multivitamins you think are quality and worth the money? I am low in D and B12 so I especially need those but I am getting so overwhelmed by the options. I found these and then watched your video and now I don't want to buy them lol
Please review the Vedge protein powders and vitamins!
I don’t get the clear bottle. Vitamin bottles should block light.
Haha! I've also had 3 kids and my papayas are long in the tube 😂🎉😅
Mine are like cucumbers ❤
Just curious, you mention some items you do use like drug store shampoo (herbal essences) or dove but those aren’t cruelty free. I’m not saying this to police you but just curious about veganism and not finding cruelty free items?
I used fluoride free no xylitol, SALT BASED toothpaste for a few months and now I have like 6 cavities
