First timer yesterday at Newcastle for me,really tough course after the first 3k considering it's supposed to be a pb course but really enjoyed the event, well organised and the weather lovely and sunny, keep up the work on the your channel ❤
It was a tough course at Newcastle. Not sure who would of said it was a PB course, unless a beginner or not ran a 10k in a while with a long period of training in between? Thank you for your kind words and support, which is greatly appreciated!
Agree that specializing in a distance will make you faster, but it's also about consistency. For me, i usually run 3 to 4 times a week. I used to just go out and run and not think about variation, but since i've started doing intervals, tempo runs, as well as easy and long runs, i've found i've got faster across all distances.
Very true. How long have you been training consistently?
Just this year. Set a goal to do a half marathon a month, and add the variations in. My PB in the half went from 1:50 to 1:34. But it also improved my 5k times as well and managed to break 22 minutes. Not sure how long this will last as I'm 52 now!!
@@bassbelch717 that is excellent improvement! Based on your age, you should be able to keep improving for quite a few more years at all distances with the right training. Have you got a coach?
@@PoetWithPace No i don't have a coach, but could probably do with doing more strength work.
