“When you’re in your own house for too long, things become invisible” what a great quote!

      Thank you for watching!
If you have time to visit our site, we are organizing lots of videos (140) there to enable people to navigate better than TH-cam typically allows. ShapeShiftersTV.com ... click on Hand-ufacturing and you will see lists being populated. I did not announce this yet, so you are getting backstage first! I think you can see some videos that are not public on YT yet. =) M

Hi Mike, thanks for putting out these great commentary videos! When do you think we’ll get to see you demonstrate mold making? Maybe a series beginning with the basics and building up from there? Thanks!

@@andrewwood9571 thanks for connecting. We filmed several last year but put pause on it due to small viewership.
As channel has grown a little, we we start posting. Our production quality was lower last year .... no biggie, just distracting. The first how to video that will go up is me teaching my wife how to make simple mold. Nothing to earth shattering, but fun and playful. I think it has been scheduled for 4 weeks from now...or there abouts.
We are filming higher quality stuff now...but it takes time to edit because I have 3 other channels. Please be patient as I catch up. Super glad your watching. M

So I'm into making and 3D printing. I've never touched ceramics. My take is that the advantage of 3D printing in this space is that you can produce objects that could not be molded easily or at all. So it seems to me that using the printer for the planters isn't a good use of the technology. The other object, the twisty thing, looks much better suited to the technology. Very cool that he's pushing the boundaries of his craft.

I think you are right, but here is a small caveat.
Guessing this equipment is new to Kurt and he is likely just at the very first steps of sorting out how it operates, learning its in's and out's etc. As you have likely experienced, advanced design elements come with familiarity of owning the limitations of a piece of equipment. If he stays with this technology, I am imagine he will start to push the limits...but also, fortunately other people will see this and then a community begins with ideas being exchanged.
With that said... I personally would be printing far different things such as customized portraits from 3D scans, replications of old artwork... mashing up sculptures from the past and having surrealist fun with it all. But that could only come after I learned how to use the machine. Looks like a fun thing to mess around with if time allowed.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Hopefully, you will share some printing ideas too! Michael

Yes, I agree. Many people have directed me to Robert. I like his stuff... such a nice guy willing to share lots of ups and downs with the process. Do you have a specific video in mind that would be a good one to roll commentary with? M
