    Mazda 929 had a cool option: a solar powered sun roof with a ventilation fan that would activate when the cabin became hot while parked.

    Love that my Bolt EV dings and flashes a message to check the back seat if I had opened it and something may be back there.
    This game only works in desolate areas but in my long drives in Texas, or Phoenix to San Diego we used to play "living things". You'd watch your side of the world and get a point if you spotted something like a bird or whatever. Could drive for several hours and win the game having seen less than ten things.

      Especially if you own a GM vehicle with that feature and you are about to leave the restaurant leftovers in the car on a hot day!

      They said that based on anti-consumer features. They like it because it won't work in situations they dislike. They like it because it nags you. They like it because they think it's harder to use. They even admit in this video it was almost impossible to engage and yet they structured their test so it won despite Tesla scoring way better on ACTUALLY driving.

    We used to play the "cow game." Every time you pass a cow pasture, count how many cows are on your side of the road (works well for 2 kids in the back seat). However, if you pass a cemetery on your side of the road all of your cows "die" and you have to start over at 0. The person with the most cows at the end wins.

    Tip... if you really need to get somewhere with two or more small kids. You need two adults.
    Pack luggage a day before the trip. Adult #1 takes a long nap in the evening. Adult #2 entertains kids in the evening. No naps. Adult #1 gets up and piles all the luggage in the car. Adult #2 makes sure bathroom breaks are taken then puts all the kids in the car. Adult #1 must drive at night 6 hours minimum. Kids will be asleep in less than an hour. Providing peace and quite. ADULT #2 Naps while kids are asleep. Adult #1 must be responsible enough that if they are tired they must pull over to protect the family.

    For the last question, I think the part about 2022 models is what happens *after* the chip shortage? If car makers have to increase volumes to make up for this crazy year after supply chains are restored, will next year's quality suffer then?
    For hot cars, you off-hand mentioned car colour, but one thing I don't see talked about much with this topic is window tinting. I'm a huge fan of my ceramic tint, which helps a tonne in slowing the heating of the car and reducing the final temperature in the sun. It's not a panacea -- it still gets hot -- but it could buy a kid or dog a few extra minutes for the adult to remember and come back. There are other design solutions for the future, too. At one point Toyota had put a solar panel on the roof of a Prius and used that to power a vent when the car was off (not full A/C, but at least changes some air out to help a bit).

    Appreciated the segment about keeping kids occupied in the car. Getting ready to travel 4 hours to the mountains with a little one this summer

    Tesla has a neat feature called "cabin overheat protection" where the car will never allow the interior to rise above 105 degrees, which apparently is the temperature when exceeded when unattended children start having fatal incidents. Not necessarily unique to EVs, as there have been some other cars with solar panels like an option on the Prius that runs the air conditioning when parked in the sun. Hopefully more cars will start coming with this as the shift to EVs accelerates

    You might try putting Rain X on the lens, helps to make it sort of "non stick".

    super cruise doesn't seem to be built for mass manufacturing and scalability which is primarily the focus for tesla.

    Do you people read the Owners Manuals before you test drive to know how systems and features Work when driving these vehicles????

    I'm disappointed no one pointed out that EVs don't let the car heat up. It's TRIVIAL to run a fan and keep the car to at least ambient temp. A little bit of AC can easily keep it below 99F even on the hottest day without using much range at all. I know Tesla does this by default and they will never exceed 99F for saftey but all EVs are capable of something like this easily.

    My 2022 Hyundai Kona that I'll be leasing in late November is probably going to be built next month in South Korea, so I'm hoping that all the "good stuff" I want is built into the car. Since I'm coming out of a current lease then, my other option is probably to just make my Hyundai dealer extend my lease or tell them I'm buying a Honda instead!

    I thought it was Tesla that removed the passenger lumbar adjustment. And I thought they removed it because it "wasn't being used" not because of parts shortages. I don't know about the BMW decision. Thanks for the video! 🆗🆒✅🏆😊

    I am starting to question the hands-free aspect of all these lvl. 2 systems. Toyota (before they launched Teammate) was finding people can stare down the road and be totally daydreaming and miss things like a truck's cargo starting to come loose that even the best the autonomous systems still can't handle.

    One question about SuperCruise, if I pass out or something does it slow down and stop with the hazards on, or does it just disengage and I crash at 70mph?

    • @samiaziz2665
      @samiaziz2665 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It slows down to stop and OnStar call you to check on you. If you don’t respond a EMS and police are notified in the area you vehicle is stop and automatically the flashing lights and horns are sound

      Exactly. Tesla has the ability to keep drying safely. Did you see the video where the Tesla saved the owner who was drunk and passed out behind the wheel?

    • @kingkontinuum
      @kingkontinuum 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Mabeylater293 I saw the one where the Tesla crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler and killed the driver. Tesla doesn't authorize it's vehicles to perform driving unless the driver is awake and attentive with their hands on the wheel. Dozens of people have died in Teslas because they were drunk or not paying attention while Autopilot was engaged. no one has died while using SuperCruise.

    wordy, window, very little information, doesn't address GM's disdain for improving and completing their mapping project, over-emphasizes the driver-view control and has little data, lots of blah blah. I have a Tesla and a Cadillac with super cruise, there is absolutely no comparison, the Tesla wins hands down, the Cadillac is an excellent car but the supercruise is almost worthless. Won't even maintain lane safely on high speed curves on interstates in mountain areas, and doesn't advise you when it is simply letting go and not "looking" any more. Poorly designed and almost not updated despite over the air capability. Very poor quality review by three people who obviously have very little hands-on experience with these devices but came to the party with strong prejudices about how the system should have been designed. Shame on CU

    Drives me crazy when they beg and gripped for donations but by a $100000 Cadillac to test as if their average subscriber would even consider buying a $100000 suv. I ended my donations after all the Tesla and Mercedes S class nonsense.

      Kip,while driving your '88 dodge salamander to your monthly wallmart clothes shopping spree check on your casio if you'll have time for your favorite meal of cooked potatoes with goatmilk at Jimmy's redneck soufle where you can find your favorite magazine "Peasant surprise" so you can finally donate your hard-earned 50 cents to something more
      apropriate for your acquired taste.
      Cheers!
