i just tested it and it turns out you’re right. you can’t throw items over the fog wall (the hit box extends to the ceiling), but you can throw items off to the left of the fog wall over the cracked portion of the broken pillar. she doesn’t take fire damage, so you can’t use firebombs, but you can arc a throwing knife to just barely hit her. you have to reposition yourself after every throw, but it is doable
thank you. i do have a longer script that i’ve been sitting on forever because i’m not super happy with it, i’ll think about it but it’ll be a while before it’s out

Only two vids so far and I'm hooked. Usually don't comment at all but you have a unique editing style/ energy when it comes to making videos that makes it engaging to watch. Looking forwarding to seeing more dark souls content or whatever else you make in the future!
I'm very happy to go down this rabbit hole of random Dark Souls content, you are one of a kind among these other niche channels about this game from 2011 (And with very good editing too!)
You can softlock by joining a world where the host closes the game while you're in the loading screen. You'll immediately return to your own world but sometimes you'll spawn in the air, die, respawn in their again etc. Infinite inescapable death loop
I'm a bit fuzzy on the details of the mechanics involved, so don't know for sure if this could work, but I wonder if you could softlock yourself in the Archives prison cell. My theory is that you max out your inventory before getting sent there, so the key needed for leaving can't be picked up and drops on the floor instead. Then quit and reload to despawn it/get it sent to the Firelink Shrine chest. NGPlus's alphabetical boss order video uses the inventory trick with the Purple Coward's Crystal, and it feels like it should work here as well.
Keep making more of these, I really like your style and both videos have had several things that were new to me despite devouring dark souls and content about it.
Instantly thought of the Vamos bonfire pre lordvessel lock. Idk if it’s actually a true softlock but I definitely lost a save file back in the day because I went too deep in the catacombs before even touching undeadburg
i dont think its a softlock. first time i went down there i never found vamos and just jumped down. there is a ladder going up back up from there guarded by 2 skeleton
@ yeah but if you’re underleveled and a new player fighting your way back up to Firelink Shrine with 5 estus and starting gear can be pretty much impossible. Sometimes softlocks can be a skill issue lol
My little brother and I pioneered a path to get down to vamos as soon as we get to firelink. We grab the great scythe and start with a fire gem to upgrade at vamos, and start the game with a +5 fire great scythe. Definitely not softlocked.
@@picklejho69 Sure, I can fight my way out of the catacombs with a broken straight sword these days, you're missing the point. It use to be a classic noob trap, before people had extensive knowledge of the game. A lot of people didn't even understand how to really upgrade weapons or level back then.
I soft locked myself by doing some falling skips into the catacombs and sitting at the bonfire with no warps. you can't get back up because you never pulled the levers to make the bridges passable.
that’s interesting, i never thought about that. i wonder where force quitting in the catacombs to wrong warp would take you, that would be the only way out i can think of to get out
@@STAR_RUNS i actually did this my second playthrough ever, ng+, I was just excited to get down to nito early and see what happens, ruined that file, I was so upset lmao
This is a really interesting concept, to see how you can truly fuck your save permanently. Wonder if there are ways outside of sequence breaking without lordvessel, like maybe combining equipment effects, curse etc to trap yourself in a death loop or something.
soft locking yourself in dark souls is generally a massive pain in the ass just due to the dark sign existing. there’s a handful of other ways that i learned about from mino’s video on softlocks, you should watch it
i tihkn if you launch a new game and then play for a bit and then pull out your hard drive and hit it with a hammer 79854436530786432342 times it could also work
Normally, if you discard the lava ring, it will reappear in the chest at Firelink, but he couldn't get back to Firelink, so there's no way to get it back.
I don't know if this was escapable or not, since I am inexperienced in glitching DS1. But one time I got softlocked ( stuck could be the better term) in the catacombs, in Vamos' bonfire because I skipped turning the second bridge and rested in said bonfire, and after killing pinwheel I realized that it was impossible (for me) to escape the catacombs. I ended up installing a mod to warp to firelink and uninstalling it right after.
In the Catacombs where you see ash-lake, below the cliff is the abyss if you look at the collision map. Is it possible to drop into the abyss from the Catacombs this way?
The thumbnail made me think of the 4 kings arena and im pretty sure it's a softlock also. Kill Sif, Kill Ingward for the key, fight the boss and you are just there forever, right?
You can ALWAYS warp from the 4 kings bonfire, even without the Lordvessel. The game even sorta expects you to kill them before the lordvessel which is how you find Kaathe and his covenant/2nd ending
@@damonlopez2197 I think the intended way to meet Kaathe is right after O&S, but without placing the lordvessel in the altar. Didnt know you can warp from the abyss even without the lordvessel, thanks
@artemkurteev yep you're right, I forgot ingward can give you the key w/o placing the lordvessel. But yeah thankfully Fromsoft had the foresight to imagine people killing ingward before O&S and they gave you the ability to warp. They did think of a decent number of softlock-saves, with that and the tomb of giants being escapable by foot (even if it's a pain in the ass)
great stuff.. always wanted to start posting dks content but never found the time or an interesting enough topic/angle to make the hours getting and editing footage worth it. is this your first channel? if so, keep it up
It feels a bit untrue to call it a softlock if you have to purposefully manipulate the game to even be locked by these. A normal player will never do 99% of these skips which are all simply glitches. A better title for this video is: "Can you softlock Dark Souls? (With non-accidental purposeful glitches)" but that's kinda long for a title. Overall, still a neat video and I'm subscribed.
thanks. of course, this could never happen to a normal player; the game is too well made for that. the point of the video was more to show off an interesting state you can put the game in if you have the knowledge
you can kill quelaag by throwing items over the fog wall
iirc, i tried to but there’s a wall that extends way above the fog wall for whatever reason. i can double check here in a couple hours and confirm
@STAR_RUNS really? There's a wall over it? I thought I saw people kill her like that in some old videos
