When I saw this Paprika Roast Chicken videoI thought, I can adapt this, so I made it with four chicken thighs and shortened the time by about five minutes or so. It was FABULOUS and will feed me again tomorrow. Except for the adjustment to less protein, I changed nothing. Why would I? Thank you so much.

The best part about this is that you can swap out the Paprika for any spice you feel like....Cajun,Curry Powder,BBQ Rub,Five Spice Powder,Harissa Powder,Ras El Hanout,Za'atar Spice...the list goes on and on just have a look at the spice racks in your supermarket next time your out shopping
Made this for dinner this evening. Thank you Jamie Oliver for the inspiration! It was fantastic. My bird took a bit longer to roast even with splitting it down the back. It took about 1hr and 10 min. It looked exactly like yours though and it was perfectly juicy. And it tasted and smelled amazing.
Directly ON the oven rack? Any time I save roasting that chicken will be spent on cleaning that rack both before and after. What a mess! Lovely seasoning, but I'm going to use the roasting rack which surely came with that roasting pan.
Totally agree. Trying to clean an oven rack is a nightmare. I've never yet got one completely clean. I rather think Jamie has someone to do all the cleaning and tidying up. I'd keep the chook on top of the potatoes when putting it in the oven 😊.

I would like to see this with a side of mint peas & maybe even a small serve of carrots (yes I know, that would make it 6 or even 7 ingredients, not 5 - I do get it, but it would be incredibly tasty though!). 2. I really like the idea of the chicken in the oven dripping on the veggies, but would dread cleaning the top tray. Anyone have any useful cleaning tips/hacks on this? Other than that, I think this recipe is a winner. Simple & flavoursome! Jaime is without doubt, my favourite of all the celebrity chefs. His recipes are typically not only very tasty, but also usually quite simple & easy to implement in the real world on a regular basis. Always liked that about him. 👍

What Jamie did here is known as spatchcocking or butterflying the chicken. But if you also cut out the spine, you can use the spine to make some chicken stock.
that's nice.. but the time I save cooking the chicken like that, I spend CLEANING THE OVEN... when you have other people doing it for you, it's nice.. fine, dandy!

Different recipe, but I just made your 5 ingredient Mediterranean chicken & chips from S01E01. I had to improvise, replacing the organum with basil and thyme, but it was great. Thanks so much

Not wishing to be a party pooper, but I was watching a wildlife film a few months ago and an ad for not eating chicken came up; based on the evident sincerity of the thing I've packed up eating the stuff, so DO if you can get your chicken from a better source than the battery farm product; it's pretty inhumane the way these birds live and die. ❤️🐤🐤❤️
Jamie, I love you but what the heck? You put the chicken right on the rack? Can you show the clean up for that? You're going to wreck your oven with chicken drippings everywhere.
It's not a traditional Sunday roast so please do not call it a Sunday roast, why are people trying to change traditional dinners, paprika or any other seasoning should not be in a Sunday roast, seasoning was never used years ago where the Sunday roast originated from, yet here we are trying to change it. IT IS NOT A SUNDAY ROAST!!!!!!! Make it however you want just don't try and say it is a Sunday roast IT IS NOT!!!!!

You could put the chicken on top of the potatoes from the start. Might take a moment longer to cook, but there you have it.

Well that’s what ovens are made for… if you want to cook at home, you’ll have to do some clean up of course

Thanks for this one. Somehow potatoes (even cut) take quite longer… in 40 min some are still too hard. Maybe my stove is not heating properly.

Broccoli, onions, and/or squash would all work.
