I was born & raised in Makakilo. I know the joys of partying & popping firecrackers. I know that fireworks slithered its way into local culture of Hawaii…& it’s sad bcuz it’s hard to break or get away from culture that’s become deeply rooted. But aerial fireworks are illegal in Hawaii, yet on every New Years, the skies are full of them….& when I say FULL I mean FULL OF THEM!!! Who lets these illegal FW in at the ports??? Somebody is letting them in! They need to be held accountable for these unfortunate & tragic deaths!!! I believe it’s corrupt politicians & leaders allowing these illegal FW to enter the State & are looking the other way no doubt with cash in pockets!!! People, that’s the way the top 1% want it. They LOVE to see the every day working man blow up his money in smoke bcuz it keeps him broke & working all their lives in the matrix so they can keep the top 1% rich & powerful. Powerful enough to allow illegal FW to enter the State of Hawaii. The families of those killed on New Years due to illegal FW should seek out a good lawyer w/huevos to sue the State of Hawaii for looking the other way!
People need to be accountable to themselves. If the fireworks are illegal, it means when you buy them you are breaking the law, and if you get hurt or killed, it is no one’s fault but your own.

I'm a senior living in senior housing on Maui and had to move my car while off island because of the craziness of the basically bombs going off in our neighborhood from last year's New Years Eve!! It was like a war zone the neighbors were battling against each other seems like to out do the other. I'd never seen or heard anything like it in my life. It was my first year in senior housing in the area and 3 + places on my car paint are damaged from fallout from it last year so this year I asked to move my car to another location while I was away. This is really a terrible thing what happened to this young man. Fireworks should be monitored more by informed citizens so we can protect our youth/others from this happening again. Like a neighborhood watch/protection guides for safety like life guards keep us safe in the ocean/pools do. What do you think? I've heard of something every year seems like an eye out or fingers, etc injuries and it needs to stop!
