    I just bought one of these and nobody is talking about using the volume control. What a crime. It's EXTREMELY musical when backed off. It cleans up very nicely and, depending on how you have your amp set, when you bring it all the way up it will roar.

    Picked up one of these over the weekend. Although the selector switch did not work (probably some wiring got knocked loose. Guitar store is replacing it no problem) I have been so incredibly impressed with the build quality, tone, and playability of this guitar for the price. The veritone switch gives a super wide range of tonal characteristics. The guitar really excels at this sort of slappy, bright, wet tone. incredible deal. Also they look cool as hell

    I have this guitar and I really dig the overall package. The tuners are garbage so they got swapped for some vintage style gotohs. Great value overall!

    • @MasonMusicRocks
      @MasonMusicRocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a little heavier than Squier guitars - it's very solidly built. However, I prefer the tones that you can get out of this before you customize it, like most do in a Squier. I play a Fender Jaguar + Jazzmaster normally, and quite honestly, this guitar comes mighty close to matching it.

    • @MasonMusicRocks
      @MasonMusicRocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I prefer it to Squiers - I find that they're a little sturdier (it's generally a heavier guitar) and they still are prime for customization like Squiers can be.

    • @jaybirdk7414
      @jaybirdk7414 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m going to agree with Mason Music, and say this is pretty sturdy compared to most Squiers. I say “most”, because my Tagima offset is the stablemate to a Squier Tele (which is a TANK, I won’t lie). The two provide me with all the single coil deliciousness I could ever possibly want or need!
      The Tagima and the Squier Tele are similarly sturdy, so make of that what you will. Maybe Tagima is comparable to the higher end Squiers.
      Just the same, that Tagima Tele-style I played in my local guitar shop was pretty killer! Maybe Fender has some serious competition here.

    hi do you recommend shielding for less noise considering this is with p90 pickups?

    • @MasonMusicRocks
      @MasonMusicRocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really depends; if you don't mind a little hum, then it's not worth the investment. While these are P90s, they're not as noisy as other models that I've played.

  • @alfonsoyanez4953
    @alfonsoyanez4953 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So, if you wanna upgrade the pickups, any P-90 style pickup would work?

    • @jaybirdk7414
      @jaybirdk7414 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I think it should. Some of the older designs, such as the “dog eared” ‘90s, will require a bit of modding, but you may wanna just see how those stock pickups work with your present rig. They have a distinct SNARL to them, which offers a sort of aggressive attack you won’t get from humbuckers. Likewise, they have a raspiness that more conventional single coils just don’t possess.
      I’m just going to clarify, my guitar is identical in layout to this one, with the varitone wheel on the lower shoulder. There exists an earlier iteration with the selector toggle on that bottom shoulder, and a chicken-head knob with the varitone function on the top, near the strap button.
      That said, the varitone gives you a few different tonal presets. I recommend putting them through the paces first, and then deciding whether to replace the pickups. You might find the stock tones to be inspiring (I know I did!).

    What are some of the plusses of this Tagima vs. say a Classic Vibe Jazzmaster? Do you think this bridge and tremelo is a plus even though it differs from that classic Jazzmaster style?

    • @scottmartin2608
      @scottmartin2608 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know you're asking Mason this, but I own a TW-61 and the 2-point tremolo system is essentially identical to most Stratocasters. I really like it for that reason because the construction is simple and you can pitch up AND down. The Tagima's disadvantage for me is that the Jazzmaster tremolo arm is much longer and I find it easier to use for subtle bends.
      They are quite different, and it's definitely a matter of personal preference.

    Sincerely- a beginner

    • @MasonMusicRocks
      @MasonMusicRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey!
      1. It depends on what part of the video you are talking about! This guitar is actually very quiet on it's own. But if you add different overdrive or fuzz pedals to the signal you'll hear some noise come in as well. You could also be talking about the reverb you a hearing in the "surf rock" section.
      2. Depending on the construction of different tremolo systems, some stay put in place and some fall down freely. This guitar the tremolo arm actually stays in place where you leave it quite well! What you're seeing on this guitar when it falls down is likely because he it bumping it with his hand when he's strumming.
      Hope that helps!

    I have one of these. It says Tagima Woodstock Series on it. It has an 8 pointed star or snowflake with 61 in it. Mine is off-white with a maple neck and maple fretboard. White top hat knobs. The pickup selector switch is on the bottom and there is a chicken head knob where the one in the video has its pickup switch. The tag that came with it said it’s a varitone switch. I think I paid $239 for it 3-4 years ago. It is my favorite guitar. I have several high dollar guitars which I love too but the p59s are sweet sounding. They do give off a hum if I leave the volume up when I’m not playing it, but I have a effect chain that it runs through into a Vox high gain amp so it’s to be expected. I only have three complaints 1) it didn’t come with a case, but I’ve never put it away, so not really an issue. 2) the string saddles are just a piece of flat metal that are pressed into shape, they will eventually need to be replaced when the action screws start to strip out, and 3) this guitar gets me so much pussy that I find it harder and harder to find time to actually play the damn thing. Let’s just pray that my wife never finds out that I play guitar, huh. I’m kidding, she knows that I play guitar. She’s the one that set me up giving guitar lessons to all these women in town with loose morals. It’s her fault, she personally knows how sexy I am before you really get to know me. And by that time, it’s already too late. 😉 oh well it puts an extra $600 a week in bank account. Deep down I assume that she only did it to occupy my time because she probably cheats on me. I mean, really, we have a three year old daughter yet, I had a vasectomy six years ago when I turned forty, a whole year before we met. I still haven’t told her because the kid looks just like my sister. I’m sure everything will eventually all crash down upon us and our family. When, it does, look for my country album to drop.
