The reason you see the groundskeeper (grandpa) sprinting in the middle of the night is because at the beginning of the movie, the Dad explains to Chris how his Dad almost beat Jesse Owens at the 1936 Olympic trials and almost got over it. You see him running because he’s trying to beat Jesses time. Still hasn’t gotten over it.
That kinda explains why he likes to run... but it doesn't explain the very specific scenario of why he's out there running at that time of night specifically right at Chris...
Jordan Peele’s original ending had the cop being a random guy, our protagonist putting his hands up, and the cop shooting him. He said he changed it because there was too much real shit in the movie, and he felt our man deserved a break.
"My mother loved her kitchen, so we keep a piece of her in here", meaning her BRAIN in Georgina's body... 🤮 I didn't get that part the first time, but now it creeps me out... 😰
When the guests arrive at the party, they arrive in black cars (subtle detail). When Chris escapes the Armitages’ house, he escapes in a white car. I just picked up on that 😊
The bit where the maid was "having a conversation with herself" was the real woman snapping out of it for a second, before the white woman inside tells her essentially, "No no no. Don't do that. Go back to the sunken place."
The part when the dad says, “the kitchen was mums room and we keep a little bit of her in here” and then revealing the “maid” who really is mum/nana is sooooo creepy when you rewatch and know the context.
Fun fact: the original ending was supposed to have the police show up to arrest Chris. Rod visits Chris in jail and hints that he’d get life in prison cause the system is stacked against him
Bruh what?? I like the edited ending more honestly cause the original would have just been unsatisfyingly realistic. I could actually see that happening in real life. The story would sound way too crazy to be true, the evidence is gone in the fire (probably). He's black and killed two people with the girl asking for help hell she kept a straight face talking to Rod like she can fake that and everything would have been screwed against him because that shit actually happens to black people but I feel they should also have a win at the most craziest shit.
Yeah, when I saw this in theaters that's exactly what I expected would happen. I honestly think that would have been (unfortunately) the more realistic ending, even if he got off eventually. I think the movie itself built more toward that ending as well, but I was overjoyed when they went this route ultimately. That entire last bit of the film was so cathartic to watch.
@@saihorton1360 bruh even if he wasn't black he would realistically go to prison. He killed people and all the evidence for self defense is gone. No one will believe they were doing some weird body snatching thing
I mean there would be an investigation that would likely lead to him and no matter who it is what evidence would there really be to allow him to stay free.
I never noticed throughout the movie how much the girl servant kept looking at herself in the mirror like how you mentioned @7:54 . It makes sense now knowing it was bc she was admiring her new body and look. Each time watching this movie you notice something new
@gnilttbs Kinda agree with you; I think his attractiveness comes from the fact that he doesn’t take himself seriously and many anecdotes of his giving personality. The perfect body doesn’t hurt either, but he seems to have a bit more depth than your basic pretty-boy….Also, Seb is GORGEOUS lol 🥵
At one point when Rose is wearing her red and white striped shirt, she hugs Chris with her arms around his neck, to resemble a noose, and Chris is wearing a blue jacket, their combined look resembling the American flag.
If you think about it, the only reason his girlfriend stopped the police form getting his ID was so he police couldn’t trace him if he was reported missing.
23:11 There's so much symbolism in this one shot, it's not even funny. For one, the Rose we saw in the beginning is completely gone, and we see the real her fully on display. White shirt, perfect ponytail. Refusing to even eat cereal like normal lest it leave a mustache on her face. Also notice how the white milk goes through a black straw. Same as the thing with the cars. Second, her previous victims are hanging on the wall like trophies, same way her dad hangs bucks on the wall. Third, her earbuds are black, to show how she's stealing black peoples voices so no one can hear them.
She was also looking up on Bing “Top NCAA prospects” or something similar to that (i don’t think he caught on to that) looking for her next victim already smh
Not just that a GREAT African American accent. He’s great at it. Was so mad when I found out he was a Brit. Didn’t Jordan do a key and peele sketch on this EXACT thing 😂
it was cotton in the chair. very powerful symbol for Black Americans. also the GF was eating the froot loops and milk separately so the colours wouldn't "mix" I laughed so hard at the derren brown comment LOL
Also it's weird in the age of social media those photos seem to only exist in the box, almost as if she wants to make sure there's no paper trail of the other victims. Kinda like how she did that "performance" with the cop. She had to make sure there was no paper trail to lead back to the location she took Chris 🤔
But then I wonder why they even made a call at all. They're obviously well off for money doing what they do; they could easily just have the car fixed without any need for insurance coverage.
Interesting reaction - it's clear you don't live in America. The racial disparity is apparent so early on in this movie, that's the "Off vibe". But it's fascinating how much of it doesn't register because of so much of it pertaining to the US experience.
around 8:45 when he says "who's the bad guy/guys?" I was like oh, wow. The instant they went into the house and talked to the parents it is very apparent who the bad guys were. But that's coming from my perspective as a Black woman. I don't think it's just because he's not American, though. I've watched white American reactions to this where the people watching it are VERY confused, to the point where they refuse to see the family and auction attendees as just bad people, saying they must have all been possessed by a supernatural entity.
In England, many people deny it even exists here. So it's not really uncommon. Also alot of hhhwhite ppl in America would have overlooked some stuff to anyways.

This movie was actually pretty scary. Also the producer of this movie (Sean McKittrick) is a childhood friend of my father, and he told us that apparently Catherine Keener was a drunk nightmare on set.

Chris Evans lives a few towns away from me (In Massachusetts when he's not filming movies) and I have a friend who had his mom as a costume designer they are a really nice family!
No matter how many times I see this I catch onto some new. His gf didn't want hi, smoking because she didn't want damaged goods for buyer. Someone pointed out she didn't want her bf to show ID so no trail of him
Brooo when I watched this i had to PAUSE the bloody movie in the third act because my heart was racing and my palms were so sweaty 😂 Can’t wait to check out this reaction later on 👊
I honestly haven't seen a WORTHY horror movie in a long time. The visuals to determine a horror of space and complete life augment immersion...into what I thought was horrific. The thought of someone targeting me or someone like me into a cult as I peer through a glass is just another hell. I saw a lot of development similar to the Shinning
You asked who eats their cereal like she did. The answer is, she drank her milk (white people) separately from the Fruit Loops (the Colored people.) She also drank the milk with a black straw. This is putting the white into the black. In the black community in the United States, there is a true fear of this situation. Some were shocked that someone actually made a film about it. Genius!
From the point of the RUN RABBIT song started playing from the following white car, I was on edge and a bowl of nerves when I first saw this. This movie was deep and a reflection on many real life behaviors. In our American history, black people were auctioned slaves. The silent auction scene in this movie was a reflection of that. The discovery about the auctioneers wanting to possess the natural born skills, gifts and swag of black people says something about how white supremacists think themselves superior to black people and yet envy and hate us for having said gifts that they think we don't deserve, but they do. How, even today people who hate us, yet consume and live their lives imitating all things black. Music, clothing, hair, urban lingo, swagger, body image. The grandfather was obsessed that the legendary Jessie Owens beat him in the Russian Olympics years ago. That was around the first time black people were allowed to compete in the games. He pissed off a lot of white supremacists that day, because he set records. Notice the daughter won't even mix her colored cereal together with her pure white milk. She ate them separate...that was a hint into her true nature. This movie may also reflect the elite black people who change once their financial status changes. They don't associate themselves with who they were before coming into money, and act like they don't recognize the black community unless they are in the same financial bracket. It's like they put themselves in the sunken place to get what society tells them to desire. All things asosciated with white privilege, and to deny all things of their culture. That includes relationships, too. The way the family and the auctioneers spoke to him, fetishized him and touched him without permission is something we go through still today. Yes, in the 21st century we still have people walking up and touching our hair and skin like they think their entitled to without our permission, or if we even mind it. And they are still asking inappropriate questions. I can attest to that.
you missed all the micro aggressions 😂😂😂 he really couldn’t put his finger on what was “off” is hilarious . Starting with the brother insinuating the main character has been in street fights and is interested in UFC 💀
One easter egg nobody mentioned in the comments: the color of the text "Get Out" at the beginning and at the end is light blue and is a direct nod to The Shining which was the same color. One detail nobody mentioned and is more evident on the second watch is that when they hit the deer, the police officer wants to see Chris' ID and Rose makes him look like racist for wanting the ID even though he wasn't driving and didn't hit the deer, she actually did that so when Chris inevitably goes missing, this won't be in the records as the last place he was seen at.
I think the "get out" from the hat dude was not meant to the Main Character to get out of the house, I think its meant to the guy who "lives" in his body
☕️🥄📸 Jordan Peele definitely knocked it out of the park with this one. “Us” is his follow up which is worth a watch as well. #WatchWithJen sent me here.
I loved your reaction, This movie you have to watch more than once to get All the symbolisms, from the opening shot of the white car playing that old time music, because that was her grandpa driving, the we always keep a piece of Mom in the kitchen , the brother sizing him up the way they spoke, saying cellular phone, not knowing today's slang terms, when Chris went to give the brutha a Dap and he didn't know how to respond, so he shook his fist And the thing that started it all the grandfather coming up with this idea because he got his ass whooped in the Olympics by Jessie Owens, notice the dad said he almost got over it,. And grandpa still running at night cause he has a Black man's body I would like to see you react to Psycho Sixth sense The Fly
The milk is very symbolic in movies that shows white supremacists. We can see it in Inglourious Basterds, in the first scene with Colonel Hans Landa and in American History X, when they throw milk over an immigrand woman, and one of the supremascists is eating MMs and throws away the brown ones. Both are great movies, if you haven't seen them yet. But this last is very very dense and deep. My teacher put it to the class when I was 14 and I never been the same person since then.
Well the reason why “grandpa” killed himself because he’s been tortured and well the scar on his head and he lost so much so he gave up on life in a way he was broken that’s why he killed himself

I loved your reaction, This movie you have to watch more than once to get All the symbolisms, from the opening shot of the white car playing that old time music, because that was her grandpa driving, the we always keep a piece of Mom in the kitchen , the brother sizing him up the way they spoke, saying cellular phone, not knowing today's slang terms, when Chris went to give the brutha a Dap and he didn't know how to respond, so he shook his fist
And the thing that started it all the grandfather coming up with this idea because he got his ass whooped in the Olympics by Jessie Owens, notice the dad said he almost got over it,.
And grandpa still running at night cause he has a Black man's body
I would like to see you react to
Psycho
Sixth sense
The Fly
Maybe you should watch all the movies Christ Evans has made, that would be perfection, I love the way you react to movies always makes me laugh
My teacher put it to the class when I was 14 and I never been the same person since then.
looove your reactions Seb, react to Haunted House next where Marlon Waynes is one of the actors
God I felt personally attacked when u said kill her coz she drinks milk 🥛 😂
"and you use bing??" lmaoooooo
You should watch "Poetic Justice"
Also "The Harder They Fall" is coming out in a few days!! Very exciting stuff!!
I love this movie, don’t you think the scariest part is the sprinting scene!
3:18 she's doing this so that he can't be tracked back to where they're going.
Oh nooo I didn't think about that!
Well the reason why “grandpa” killed himself because he’s been tortured and well the scar on his head and he lost so much so he gave up on life in a way he was broken that’s why he killed himself
Yay another reaction! :D This movie was so creepy... I recommend watching Dark Skies some day.. ;)
Among nick, tim and thor youre my crush seb omg 😍😍😍💕
