- After an incredible train journey, we delved into the enchanting world of the Elgin Railway Market. The bustling atmosphere and captivating displays immediately caught our attention, offering a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds. Navigating through the vibrant arts and crafts, we found ourselves immersed in a sea of creativity. Despite the array of delightful options, our culinary experience fell short of expectations, with the exception of the delicious fries and snacks of droewors, biltong and macadamia nuts. Nevertheless, the overall visit to the market was a delightful adventure. As we reluctantly bid farewell, the return train journey to Cape Town left us with lasting memories of a day filled with exploration and discovery. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #elginrailwaymarket

Nice camera work, loved the views. And for two people who are always looking at the bright side of things - glass-half-full people - I was also impressed with the straight and honest reviews of the not-so-great market food.
Very interesting to watch….. one thing (as an ex South African) I can say, folks in South Africa knows how to do things in a very classy manner. There’s just that special touch to detail, love it.
If there is one thing I love about SA is that there are so many talented and artistic Africans, they can use just about anything and turn it into something so beautiful. And not just that the Africans also have such a beautiful voices that they don't even need any instruments to play. It comes so naturally to them. I'm so proud of SA❤
Thank you as always
Sonia and Curtis, these are such memories you are building for us and each other! (As I have to live without my life-partner these days, it is still a joy to share your travels around our "home" area) Just think how much many of us would like to "meet" Sonia in some of these journeys you share with us...
That was such a lovely outing! Thank you very much 🥰
Wow such a lot to see and eat. Thank you for going to all the trouble to show us practical everything. I enjoyed it sooo much! It was really a trip well worth the effort and money. Till we meet again on the next trip. I am on board as usual
Hi Sonja and Curtis. Thanks for showing all that art & crafts. What I also look forward to is what is on the menu. So glad you all are so quick after Kruger. Will continue to support all your videos.
All that under one roof very nice . Something quite different. Thank you so much for this episode.
Lovely video, really enjoyed it!!
Seeing my home from home while watching from the uk. Thank you so much, guys. My boet does the fireman duties for the ceres rail locomotive 3322 sometimes. Doesn't look like he was firing on the day you went up the pass though. Much love from the saffa in the uk ❤
Absolutely stunning. I have never seen such a big market place. From art and crafts, cheese, books, food, clothing, etc. Wow this market really blew me away. Thanks for sharing.
Loved your visit to the market .. I was quite jealous ! One thing that I saw that brought back memories- on your trip back home you were videoing the view and the fire etc - but on the window of the train there was etched the head of a springbok .. I remember that from when I was kid and we used to travel from Gingindlovu on the North Coast to visit my Ouma in Durban … 😊
Baie dankie vir twee pragtige video's oor Elgin. Ek en my vrou het besluit om sommer die vídeos tweekeer oor te kyk. Dankbaar julle mooi mense! Groete van af ń pragtige KZN.💯
Another great video! Thank you! Best wishes 🙏🏽
Awesome! I could spend all day in the Book Bus. What an interesting market well worth saving some tummy space for the divine food.
This video brings back old memories and strange enough, it also gives good hope for the future. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thank you for showing us the trip back to Cape Town too. Love your talks in between!
Excellent video. Always enjoy your travels.
18:40 excuse me for drooling on your screen .... Yummy, followed by turkish delight and fudge ~ I don't know how you can resist😋 What an adventurous and very interesting day trip, thank you!
I wouldn't mind having that Bookbus. I would turn it into a house on wheels. Sure is a nice size. Livable space. Thank you for another awesome video. As always. Regards from East London.
Age is catching up, with me, my first SA visit was May 1974. Cheers
This trip gives me courage to take a train trip. 🤗
Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
I've been there. An incredible place.
Loved the steam train journey. 😊
An interesting trip indeed. Glad you enjoyed the day 😏.
I am so happy that you are posting again so quickly after Kruger. Looking forward to this video as I have never been there.
Thanks for another awesome video, you can't beat South Africa for wining and dining. I love the way you take us all around the shops showing prices and South African hand made curios. The wire metal beaded animals are well made. There is certainly a lot of local talent. You two are inspirational ,you are living life to the full, thanks for sharing your travels😊
Went through the Karoo in a steam train. 1969.
All very nice, but too noisy for my old ears. Thank you anyway, enjoyed it. Take care.🙃🎶🎶🎶🙏🤗🤗
In a train? Wot! I'm so addicted by your car adventures I had to look in my glass to see what I'm drinking 😂absolutely classic you two. Love from Wales.
We're not quite ready for the long road after our very long Kruger trip, so we'll be exploring much, much closer to home for a while, at least until we feel up to it again! 😁
I love markets!!!!!!
Thankyou I enjoyed it very much . I also know now what they are selling at the market what I will enjoy to have
Absolutely Brilliant
What an awesome place. Sonia, it is really touching the way you care about how Curtis is enjoying his food or anything that he eats and drinks. So sweet.
Beautiful video.
Very beautiful artworks😊
Hi guys enjoyed the market veldskoons artwork and biltong !!! The food was disappointing but I remember samosas were some thing like dried hoekie? The views of table Mountain outstanding. Luckily I had my stash of biltong to munch on very interesting the helicopter with the water bag thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one
I'm glad you enjoyed the market with us! 😁 We love chicken samoosas and know them as moist and flavourful little pastry triangles filled with the most delicious fillings. As a matter of fact, we buy fantastic chicken-and-onion samoosas right here in Strand!
Hi you two! What a market! It is literally a whole town under one roof. Everything is there! I would have spent my time trying out everything at the Fudge Kitchen. The train ride back was as splendid as the first one. Lovely and interesting scenery. Thank you for sharing a whole day. I am ready for the next trip.
Stay safe!
This was well informed video. I know exactly what to expect should I have the opportunity to go on the Elgin train. Maybe food was spoilt by the delays...just a thought. I think you will find something to buy there....they covered just about everything at that market. 🎉❤🎉 loved all those snacks you enjoying hey. Never too much fat on biltong 😂
I'm with you 100% on the fat on biltong! And the yellower, the better! 😈🥓 The delays definitely ate into our shopping and eating time at the market, and we may have picked items in haste. 🤷🏻♂️
All along the coast from Port Nolloth to Mosselbaai there are little fishing villages. Have you thought of doing a series visiting all of these fishing communities?
We've visited many coastal towns and villages, including Port Nolloth in Episode 233 and Mossel Bay in Episode 280. 🚙😁Fishing is not an interest nor a pastime of ours, so we won't be visiting more fishing villages to make videos.
Do they still grow apples in Elgin I remember, when I lived in S.A. I bought golden delicious apple from an apple farm, I think
Indeed! The Elgin Valley is in the heart of apple country and apples are still very much grown there. 😍🍎🍏 The crates you saw on the left-hand side of the train as we arrived at the Railway Market, were mostly apple crates.
@@DustBugsTravel Thank you, they ere the best apples I ever ate.
Lyk my ek is beroemd, my naam is Elgin
