The Flying Burrito Brothers are iconic and seminal artists who are some of the founding fathers of country rock; their history is short and ethereal. Their importance to country rock fusion cannot be overstated. I shed tears of joy to see Chris's daughter's happiness over seeing her father's historic clothing shown to his fans and the public again.
There are some posts on the internet that refer to Nudie Cohen as the ‘Nashville taylor”. His shop was in North Hollywood California on Lankershim Boulevard, the same street the well known Palomino Club was on although about 3 miles South of the Pal. Originally a double storefront on the East side of the street, about 1968(?) Nudie moved across the street to a much bigger place. The area has some historical markers on lamp posts and Nudie is featured on one. First ‘Nudie Suit’ was made for Tex Williams of ‘Smoke, Smoke, Smoke That Cigarette” fame around 1948. The heyday of the ‘Nudie Suit” was probably the 1960’s but guys like Porter Wagoner kept the style alive and there are descendants of them to this day.
I remember going by there in the late 80's and just glancing over (not looking in the window) just seeing the sign and thinking that's a pretty self explanatory name for a strip club due to the clubs just north of there. Only when I saw Rodeo Tailors and all the Western gear in the windows did I question why this place was in North Hollywood. Long before the internet trying to figure out what Nudies was wasn't easy. Several years later I found out his involvement in movies and television and how legendary he was.
The person who "owned" it could have been a benevolent soul and given to her, but an original Nudie suit is worth some money. A guitar that was stolen from a storage unit in Colorado (prepping for induction to the CO Music Hall of Fame) belonging to Flash Cadillac (inlaid mother of pearl on the neck) turned up in Mexico. A guy paid $1000 for it at some kind of art fair several years after it was stolen. The man was given what he paid for it plus another thousand for a "finder's fee" for giving it up. Possession is 9/10 of the law.
Wow, 'Gilded Palace of Sin' album cover suits reunited. Surely all of them aren't the originals? If so, that's remarkable. If not, that's still quite an achievement.
That video of Elton John singing "Your Song" while wearing that suit has been on his youtube channel for about 5 years and no one noticed that the video was on his channel, it has over 70 million views. (also I thought the suit looked a little too big on EJ). There are also photos of Elton John at Bernie Taupin's wedding (he was Bernie's best man) wearing that same suit. The photos are in black and white. I guess EJ auctioned off the suit years after he bought it from the store in LA and that's how it was found. Great ending to this story. Glad it's back in the museum for everyone to see. Video of Your Song: th-cam.com/video/GlPlfCy1urI/w-d-xo.html
Rock and southern soul Huh, then the Eagles should be in the Nashville HOF? Why, because Gram & Chris liked the slide guitar, I suppose...and when they left, the band should`ve ended in the 70s, but they didn`t call Pete sneaky for no reason...I guess dropping "flying" in the name flew alright by him...until the country boys found out the name meant money, that is...

That would be tailor.
@@MeMeDaVinci I quoted it as it was to emphasize the misinformation. I should have noted it “sic”.

i’m so happy to see this! i love the burritos brothers
Can someone who knows the ins and outs of the legal system, please explain why she had to buy back a stolen suit?
He had no knowledge it was stolen when he purchased it and she has no ownership of it.
@@768lbman Stolen property cannot be legally owned by anyone else but the owner.

@@768lbman It's not like Elton John needs money he probably did not know it was stolen. What a story though.
Nudie was the "Bob Mackie" of country music. He was one helluva designer.
Nudie was not from Nashville. Shop was from North Hollywood. Geez.. Google! His Tailor, Manuel is located in Nashville carrying on the same Tradition.
Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers band are legendary icons and American treasures.
That was my favorite of all of them 🌹
Sad if she really had to buy the suit from Elton John. He should have given it to her, he definitely didn’t need the money.
Elton did not own the suit when she discovered its whereabouts.
Co wrote Hot Burrito #1 with Gram. Epic
Interesting story

Wow. I’ve worn a stolen suit. Oh well, pay to get it back? Is this truth? I mean to discover the truth…🙏🏻🤨🤔
Full circle story .
The real story is why all the belongings in the house were plundered.

Vai ser a moda atual no Mundo ?
Para todos os Homens ?
Depends on what you do with the idea. It wouldn't be the worst design that has resurfaced...
Elton John 😢
Well aint that interesting.. never know.
Poor has no life of her own. Digging up old crap validates her life. Should have built an independent life.
