    I purchased this exact combination (Rega Brio and the Ophidian Minimo 2s) off Phil early in 2023.
    I am now using them in a larger room 22 ft by 12.
    They are both, actually surprisingly, easily filling that space. Mostly the Amp never past about 9 o'clock, and the Ophidians generate lots of detail and plenty of clout / volume.
    I would certainly recommend that the amp doesn't have to be 150 Watts nor the speakers 5ft tall, as if you have the budget for these quality of components. I think even in a larger room you will be pleasently surprised how well they will do.

    When I was at Uni over 40 years ago, my dorm room was 10x7 feet and I managed to stuff in a LP12, A&R Cambridge A60 and Linn Kans. plus a Nakamichi cassette deck and a tuner! Sounded excellent

    Harley Lovegrove from Pearl Acoustics does a nice 2 part video on his search for a decent desktop system. An entertaining watch.

    Don't know if I've said it before, but I've just commandeered our box room. Used my Acoustic Research AR18S, A&R Cambridge A60 (late model, marked CD not Aux, manual says it's been adjusted for CD level output) fed by Chord Mojo converting Apple/Tidal and stored digital music. It sounds really nice. I thought seeing as the AR18s are you for mixing, therefore close, they'd be ideal. Don't know if it's as posh as the set up in the video, but it's nice. M

    Sounds like a lovely compact room mini system. Reminds me of my 90s boxroom system+ Cyrus One with Monitor Audio Monitor One´s. Those Monitor One speakers were amazing both in build and sound quality.

    I use the Brio driving a pair of Linn Majiks (which are, of course, front ported and therefore happy close to the wall) in my small home office. The input is an Ortofon 2M Black on a Michell Tecnoarm2 / Gyro skeleton. Having tried various options, invariably with rear ported speakers, I found that there was always a mushy/boomy bass. Delighted with the current set-up to the extent that I often head to the Office rather than my main system in the lounge through choice !

    A used set of KEF eggs or kht2001 satalites with a small subwoofer.
    Fantastic speakers and very under appreciated.

    Neat Iotas are ideal for small rooms. They are designed to work against a wall without any bass bloom. I would pair them with a Marantz Melody - excellent amp. I've heard them with Neat SX2 mini floorstanders. Sound great.
    As I don't have a home office I'll stick with my old Leema Pulse MK1 and Dali Rubicons

    I have this very set up in my office - it’s brilliant! I’ve got the minimos on some mini isopucks, and use an Apollo CD player, project turntable and chromecast audio for sources. It’s a shame most days I can barely listen to one album without being interrupted by a work call or meeting though!

    My desk system IS my audio system. I currently use ADI 2 DAC, SMSL VMVA1 Amplifier, and Sound Artist LS35 (the chi-fi BBC copy). The speakers are sealed boxes which was my choice for the desk top but these look interesting in terms of the ports and may be a good upgrade.
    I tried the IO rather than the Brio (they are pretty similar, I've heard both) and I found it rather forward-sounding when sitting a metre or less from the speakers. I've also tried Neat Iotas - amazing in some respects but the treble close-up was too much for me.

    I am running an all-SMSL chi-fi setup - Tabebuia speakers (small, desktop speakers), VMV A1 amp, D300 DAC. Very small system physically but the sound is fantastic especially for nearfield listening. I had Gustard R26 feeding ATC SCM40A active speakers prior to this, prefer my current setup which is surprising. And I can pack of in my suitcase when travelling too!

    I used a Naim audio unitiqute as my primary source/radio and amp with a pair of PMC Twenty 21 speakers on their dedicated stand (shot loaded) All pre recorded material was loaded onto one large 6tb hard drive as FLAC files 192khz and supplied over hi grade network cables to the unitiqute and another 6 tb hard drive acting as a back up. This was all set up in a relatively small 14ft x 11ft room. The speakers being a transmission line design with front firing ports worked quite well close (12”) away from the rear wall ans a couple of feet in from the sides. I found the set up insightful and involving without the usual harshness of digital. As for volume? It could strip the wall paper!! Naismith definitely under estimate the power of these little beasties. I would heartily recommend either this type of system second hand or a similar more modern equivalent.

    I've got a 4m x 3m office in the garden which is solid build with loads of insulation. I have a Sansui 221 receiver (8 watts) with a Rega Apollo CD player and a pair of Wilmslow Audio LS3 Plus speakers. The system sounds great, the bass punch from the speakers is really surprisingly good. I was considering a subwoofer until I got these speakers but they do not need one in the space. The Sansui is nice and beefy sounding too and it seems perfect for the room. The whole system is under £,1000.

    • @johnpickles6435
      @johnpickles6435 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Where do you buy your audio equipment? I can't find a Rega Apollo for less than £700.00 and the Wilmslow Audio LS3 Plus speakers are over £700.00 add in the Receiver and you're way, way over £1000.

      @@johnpickles6435 The Apollo was £225 (older version but with a new transport installed). I did make my own cabinets to spec for the speakers and just bought the drivers and crossovers from WA. Sound deadening etc I got separately. Speakers cost around £600 all in and th Sansui (which is absolutely beautiful btw) was under £100.

    Not sure I'd be impressed if I knew an employee was changing LP sides every 20mins!
    Being an audiophile means giving 100% attention to the MUSIC;
    An employee, 100% attention to the WORK!
    Since we're implying "background music"😮, at least steaming can be done from the workstation.
    Far less disruptive.
    Go Qobuz!
    🎵🎶🤫🎶🎵

    I enjoy your content, Phil but the image quality of your vids is really poor and like TH-cam circa 15 years ago. I'm sure it's either a quality setting in your camera or it's being way over-compressed when exported out of your editing software. Either way, as I've said in the past, I'm happy to help you with this.
