I'm lvl 52 now and consciously encountered 2 Chinese players and both used translation software to communicate sufficiently. Ban goldsellers ofc but ip ban is too extreme imo
Yeah, I think the devs should do more. They claim the majority are English-speaking, which may be true, but the Chinese community is definitely the largest sub-group otherwise. If most of them could communicate in English, it would've been fine, but it's usually empty chat boxes, no responses and doing stuff on a whim. It's just very annoying and makes me ironically feel more lonely when I'm surrounded by players I can't communicate with. More of them need to move to the SEA servers.
the community on all the private servers right now is abhorrent. The chinese afk bots in Netherwing TBC and the rude ninja looting latin players in Mistblade MOP. Not worth playing at all. there used to be some cool ppl on MOP but i am sure they all left by now. i used to raid with the latins even tho i dont speak spanish and could pretty much guess what they are saying and it has never been a problem for me. The latin players left on MOP mistblade are some of the rudest people I've met online, it's why I don't even play anymore.
warmane onxyia is jaja haven and the most toxic server ive ever played. Ninja looters in every group, lowest skilled group of any server I've played. Terrible experience.
the NA community is all but dissolved on private servers. turtle and everlook top guilds are both EU and their raid times are not very friendly. here's to hoping the fresh pvp server will bring in some new blood.
I went back to classic era after months of private servers due to the fact even if a server has a good population, it's actually like 1/3 of the total population due to how many non english speaking players there are. Gummies felmyst was NA/Europe with english enforced and no p2w with great scripting, I find it odd that it failed so hard, almost like the pserver community prefers megaservers with p2w and gold selling at this point. (Felmyst staff definitely made some mistakes though)
Gummies was an elitist server that’s why it died. There’s nothing wrong with being good. Or your group of friends being the best on the server. But don’t push the entire community away because “us vs them” Now it’s just “us” and them is off having fun on a casual server like people should do in video games. Have fun..
I'm gonna be 100% real. Blizz shutting down the chinese servers pretty much dealt the final blow to the (already) decayed wow private server community. Most devs are either too greedy to fix the issue, or too incompetent to set their own servers. And then we have all those small custom servers that will split the few remains even more. So unless you wanna learn mandarin, I'd suggest to move on. It's been fun, we played for +15 years and times change, so at least we move on bringing with us all those good memories we made along the way.
Yeah, exactly what I did. I quit Stormforge TBC but honestly it would still have been bad even without china. Pserver community has been progressively getting worse for years, especially during the last 3 years and now it's just not worth it to waste time anymore. Time to move on and do something better with life.
Im a native spanish speaker. I can garantee you that most of those players that speak to you in spanish, even when they know you dont speak it or arent sure if you do, are actually obnoxious with other spanish speakers. Also, I've played a little on spanish speaking servers with friends and the playerbase and the staff are not great for numerous reasons.
I do think that the flat out refusal to speak English in multinational online spaces does correlate with some degree of sociopathy. I'm not a native English speaker, I'm Polish, and whenever I meet Poles who are like that - obnoxiously unwilling to acknowledge that they are not in a Polish-only online space and they should speak English - 99% of them are also unpleasant, toxic, vulgar or just outright undiagnosed sociopaths. Normal people just adopt English as the common tongue and don't make a big deal out of it. I do think that this attitude of linguistic chauvinism is linked with anti-social behaviour. I usually just block people like this, to me it's a warning sign that these probably aren't the people I want to interact with.
often i can found some spanish speakers players who are very nice and kind people but i think its kind of idiosyncrasy that runs in our blood to be like that, most of this cases i found out most obnoxious spanish speakers are underage kids or socially awkward spergs lol well there some good latino players still trying to safe the community
I've seen around a couple times ppl that dont want to speak english bc they actually dont know the language and justify it with nationalism or "american imperialism bad". Its not that I cant understand valid arguments going in that direction, but in these cases its usually the frustration of not speaking english due to how bad english class is (or the ed. system in general).
China should be banned, but ironically their players are keeping servers like Netherwing alive. Without them the server would probably have 1k or less online now because people rush the content and quit. I was playing during summer and the english playerbase was abysmally small and inactive. Big guilds basically raidlogging and it was impossible to gather up a fresh one; even heroics were dead. As for chinese, many of them were botting dungeons and crafting materials. In the end though, I dont think server owners care - china means more money from webshops and a huge pop boost to sustain their servers.
As long as everyone understands what Skull, X, Triangle means I dont really care what language they arent talking to me in. I never even noticed we had chinese people until everyone on twow was going apeshit in chat every day around 1pm
I played on Turtle for at least a year. I stopped months ago because of the population influx. It started with me not able to finish a single quest in a reasonable amount of time because so many low level characters everywhere. Then the queue was introduced. Which was a huge downside for me. Because I work all day and I wanna play in the evenings. The fact that I have to wait to play is not acceptable as someone who has a normal job. And then theres the Chinese issue. I wanna actually talk to people. Even the Russians on Turtle speak English. The overwhelming majority of these Chinese just dont. And they dont seem to care. I LOVE the Turtle WoW content. But what is now the "community" just made it impossible for me.
As a tip, chrome remote desktop is great for queues. Just get on your phone an hour or so before you head home. Can even set a simple macro to click every few minutes as well so you're not waiting for hours and hours to play. I was half tempted to try this server but I'm glad I saw this. I tried to play a tbc offiicial server, the faction ratio was 3:7 and 90% of the people on that server either spoke spanish or chinese due to being little parasocial streamer followers that followed two streamers.
The problem is, they are very happy to only include themselves. If they have enough numbers, they dont need us. Thats the whole point, if you take turtle wow for example. Type /join china, they just stay within themselves and do a large portion between themselves. Theres no integration, thats the worst part, there is no want or need to involve themselves with us westerners on western servers. I do feel bad that they have no servers (except turtle wows new server) but these are EU crafted servers for EU players, they decided amongst themselves that they would arrive, in large volumes, and sure you dont need permission to join, but when you arrive in thousands, it kinda becomes a problem. I wouldnt care so much if they atleast wanted to assimilate with us, but they have no interest in westerners, and we are just a bother to them in our own servers.
This is literally the reason I gave up on Turtle Wow. I know they announced China's own servers, but I tapped out about a month and a half ago. The ques and inability to get the most simple of quests done made the game borderline unplayable because of the invasion of China. I said screw it I'll just wait until Duskhaven 2.0 and Azeroth At War to launch.
@@weirdafters4007 I never said the que wasn't fixed. I said I tapped out about a month and a half ago, the que wasn't fixed then. This was before the launch of SEA servers. And good on Epoch.
The only option for Chinese players to have fun without making life hard for others is to make their own server. There are tons of people speaking Chinese all over the globe living in different countries. If it is impossible to run the server in CPR, there are a lot of other countries with Chinese-speaking population. The demand is real, the only thing left is to meet it.
Absolutely agree with you, the issue is the same as the russians in csgo not speaking english and just ruining the whole experience for everyone including themsleves. They should be able to play the game of course, but without understanding the same language as everyone else, their IPs should be blacklisted.
It always comes down to an IP ban argument. I am of the opinion that there should be a blanket ban on those IP ranges for English-speaking communities. The language barrier just puts too much of a chokehold on gameplay. It is impossible to teach poor players how to improve, and you cannot coordinate in group activities even if they are experienced. Even the introduction of new SEA servers (and transfers from EU to them) for Turtle WoW seems not to have changed a lot and there are still many Chinese players on the EU server. It is particularly an issue when it comes to PvP, as gearing and game knowledge are critical to a team's success. Yet still, I am paired with players who I cannot even explain to them why wearing leather and dual wielding as a warrior is a bad idea.
There is no double standard, it's an English speaking server. They have dedicated Chinese-speaking servers now. There are also rules that prevent the use of non-English (but also European) languages. Because of the language barrier. It is an extremely consistent rule that they have kept.@@van7915
@@van7915 How about learn English, or just don't play. Plenty of Germans, French, south americans, even Russians, are happy to speak english in order to enjoy and play the game in a way that doesn't ruin the communities within it. Why can't the Chinese do the same.
I'm all about quality versus quantity. Seeing loads of people on screen is all but a hollow and a moot point once you realize most of them are gold sellers and not actual players who enjoy playing the game traditionally. This is why I don't have a problem with playing on chromie or tauri.
Let's be honest, nothing's stopping a Chinese server to be made, we don't have an obligation to mix completely different cultures, nor have to feel bad
I have been on Netherwing for around 2 months now, although it's obvious that the Chinese community is abundant on the server. I genuinely can't recall many events where language has been a barrier. I have found many English-speaking guilds which are active and raiding and i really do believe it's more about actively making an effort to connect with similar individuals. They are there if you're looking to connect. Overall - Netherwing has been a remarkable and refreshing look back at tbc for me and the Asian community has had more merit to the experience than a negative for me. I'm from the UK . :D
People that think chinese/orientals shouldn't be banned on european/western servers are so cringe. They are the same kind of people that think they know what's better for other cultures and ethnicities. Why shouldn't the chinese host their own private servers and play there? They could enforce their own rules and speak their own language freely. Well if we don't ban them they have no incentive to do that.
south american players have been a mixed bag on live for years. for some reason on my east coast time server, that is hubed in Chicago from what I've read, is linked with a cluster of south American servers?? IDK who designed this but its a little obnoxious when outside of peak hours half or more of the group finder is oceanic or brazillian.
Turtle WoW has already kind of solved the issue by releasing SEA realms. As for Stormforge Netherwing….it’s still quite the issue there. I don’t know if the team has the resources to launch an SEA realm like Turtle WoW did but it’s become increasingly frustrating.
That was BANG ON! You got the picture. I played on Everlook for a while and it went to shit after it got invaded by the chinese. I also have real life experience workong with chinese and there is little to nothing positive I can say about them. Bottom line: servers suffer from their presence. Definitely with you on using the Ban Hammer on them.
A Chinese realm would be the best solution. I'm a Chinese living in Japan and I stop playing turtle wow because of the hour long queue. Switch to netherwing and found that the client don't support Chinese. I can't type Chinese and when I group for quest all I see is bunch of "?????". I don't know how mainland players bypass that and It's annoying even for me. My thought is that if you want to play at a server not intended for you, at least try to learn some of language and try your best to communicate. PS: I tried to search "Bots on netherwing TBC server“ after I found some bots outside shatt killing everything. Guess what I found, some forum dedicated to botting in WOW, and An English speaking forum.....So I think it's not that all gold seller are Chinese but most bot user are targeting Chinese players. Chinese game market have a unhealthy trend of pay to win and pay to convenience for many years. It's not just a wow thing.
Seems to be a problem more with people who took the time to learn English as a second language. As a native anglophone I have no problem playing with Chinese or Spanish players as long as they put some effort into communicating.
Someone's lagging a bit behind. Turtle is now more than just playable and almost no queues. Most CN players are now on SEA realms and all is well. Gilneas is up and I see less and less chinese players who can't communicate. They do their best to use English. So I guess genuine players only left on main Turtle EU. It's now awesome.
This just isn't true. Most of the players I've seen are Chinese. Leveling is insane due to these areas being flooded with them and they don't like to group.
While the situation has improved, there are still too many Chinese. Most of them we can't communicate with, their chat boxes are empty and the names immersion breaking.
@@dannyp9210 this is just a matter of days now that they launch PvP realm soon, after that the more people will come up for naming policy changes to ban or at least rename clearly immersion breaking names the better. Voice your opinion, defend your POV and others like-minded people will support.
As a native russian speaker I can confirm that most of the chinese people I've met on Turtle WoW speak only chinese and they don't give a damn about you not knowing it x) They also ruin the RP immersion, Warcraft vibe and atmosphere of the server with their nicknames :[ Same goes with the russian playerbase tbh, but feels like they're much lesser threat imo
it went something like this , first you had the russians , then the latinos and now the chinese , i wonder who is next? ill bet on the balkans personaly
Main issue is mandarine and spanish players for sure.. Its even an issue on niche servers like CC. And its not just the communication, its also the client. Most of the asian players aint using the english client. So when they try to link or an addon spams chat.. you get a bunch of ?? marks etc..
At least you can understand some Spanish and its not that hard to grasp ( although aspect and aspecto for them are 2 totally different words for the with 0 possible connections for some reason ) In case of Chinese you can do nothing and they only know "hello-yes-no" as well.
I can empathize with the things that you say, but as a person that has played albion online i think the main problems here are the comunity, the client that doesn't process chinesse typography and the way wow is designed by default. Albion otherwise is a game that 1 year ago had a single superserver for the whole world, and i have some of the most funny memories interacting with our chinesse brothers, moments where they helped me to defend from other players, moments where one of them killed me and gave my stuff back even some of them that somehow downloaded discord and tried to call fights that ended up being funny because of the chaos from the guy trying to speak english XD. Albion made an asian server so people from asia could play with decent ping, but when they released it the game literally died.
Turtle wow already have some sorta solution to this big chinese breach, they opened the dedicated chinese servers and now it seems to be more stable on the main server, I still see some chinese guilds out there but at least world chat and general not spammed by some characters of chinese language
Fortunately turtle wow has finally opened up some SEA servers for the chinese players which has helped with queue times, at least for me. They are however planning on opening up a fresh EU pvp server, which idk how to feel about.
Thanks Blizzard for ruining private servers. i bet this was their plan. now we got high pop private servers but you cant get anything done because no one speaks english. all you see is question marks and empty chats being sent at you.
I played on CircleWoW which is a Russian server and I don't speak Russian, we had an English guild, but I wonder if the Russians felt the same way about us when we just randomly spoke English to them and couldn't understand Russian LMAO. But I met a lot of amazing people on CircleWoW that even if they barely spoke English they tried, I've also been in a lot of raids with Russians who didn't mind giving me instructions in English when I needed them.
@@gustavocaicheo7512 I played on the 1x realm on WoTLK haven't been on in a while though. The Alliance guild kinda died but there's still an active English guild on Horde called "Cookie Cartel"
Kinda late to the party bro xD At least on turtle the queues are solved, 5 chinese realms with decent populations, priority queue for EN players but for a while I rarely seen the server to be 10.4k players constantly, chinese pop is a bit big but I've seen more EN players recently, especially with the other realm coming out. I don't know about the situation on the other servers.
@@aliad76at peak times kinda, but not really overrun... they are like 40% of the pop rn but at U.S or late EU time there are like 5-6k people or even more.
Then who would they sell the gold to if it's just gold sellers playing? lol. They need a western speaking player base to sell gold to. Chinese are all playing fortnite and smite. @@jetfa9
Why don't they just make their own pservers like the english speaking players have, instead of just joining existing servers with english speaking communities already
Yea imagine if it used an ai or google translate to auto translate everything. Sometimes it may only be 50% accurate other times 99% but it's better than 0%. Might even get a few people to attempt to learn another language if they make friends who speak it.
I love being able to play with people all over the world and having a server that is alive 24/7 because all time zones is pretty cool. But like you said if you can't communicate you're kinda in each others way. I play on Turtle WoW EU and it got really bad for a few weeks with ques and 15k+ people trying to play at once. But once they opened Chinese servers and started to IP ban everything got better. We are back to a beautiful and healthy server again.
Its not an anti- Chinese thing its a volume thing. You cant have 10,000 people suddenly flood a server it will ruin virtually everything. Enjoyment of the game and the market and the spawn rates, everything. I will kill a server and its doing it to turtlewow right now I was just logged on there on my low lvl 10 char its flooded and its horrible.
Hey man really like your vids, and big fan of the channel. I know you're a busy guy. But I was just wondering what your thoughts are on season of discovery? and would be awesome if you made some content about it. :)
There may be another option. On some private servers (e.g. trinity) you can limit the character set which can be used to e.g. latin only. That would force people to use basicly a-z only. Granted, this does not help with the spanish players, but it could help a bit.
I am so sad that this happened to chinese players. Especially considering how big of push they gave from their side for blizz to open official classic, and now this, blizz just dumps them and gg. I mean i didnt play official vanilla since i have characters at warmane in which i have invested years of grinding and hard work, but that is just my case, and i am sure that official classic was a dream come true for tens of thousands of people.
Blizzard had no fault in the matter. China was aggressively demanding IP rights of WoW so that they could make any changes that they wanted to the game. Blizzard, in order to defend WoW IP, adamantly refused it. Blame the Chinese Communist Party.
i dont think ip ban could do much, even a free vpn can bypass the thing. plus they can just create another accounts for free in private servers. fun fact: chinese account, gold, or real money traders are lean toward pve servers, because none is capable to interupt their 24/7 farming activities ingame. so yeah, while pvp servers have ganking problems. unfortunately pve servers have much worse problem like botting.
They can create their new accounts under VPNs yes, but if the second they speak in Mandarin in trade, world, or say chat with anyone who is not their friends/guildmates then they could get reported and banned. If the admins have any knowledge of how to edit the source code they could add in language filters. Like for instance if any Chinese (Mandarin) characters are used it is an auto-mute/ban.
Gold selling is happening everywhere especially in eastern Europe middle east. The whole ni hao gold seller is a stereotype a bit of a meme take. Turtle is now making a china server which is def the play. also, most people speak English if somebody is going full ni hao in your dungeon he is just trolling you. This is a massively overblown issue just cause ques.
As a german I can say, that I do not play on dedicated german realms anymore for several years now. There is a simple reason for this. On german realms you have a lot of stupid and therefore bad german players. Being able to properly communicate in english requires a minimum of either real world education or dedication to the game, which is why I am willing to bet that the average IQ on english/mixed language realms is higher than it is on dedicated realms for a certain language.
I've actually met a surprising amount of CN players that spoke decent english, on Turtle. I also found them to generally be better players than the average turtle player, too. Most of them are just players without a home, merely trying to bingchill. I'm against banning them.
@@tehpownlawl it's pretty standard american racism towards china/russia. You see it a ton on pservers, they're very open and vocal about it. Nevermind the fact that most people who buy RMT services are US players...
I play on TurtleWoW and rarely had problems with the chinese people. My friend learns chinese and used his little knowledge to befriend some. Did some dungeons with them and we did quite well and communicated mostly with markers. Most of the chinese people are now on their own server so now its back to mostly english speaking playerbase.
Oh stop. Netherwing isn't "overrun by chinese players," it is becoming overpopulated. If you're playing in TBC you are farming...just like everyone else. It doesn't matter what the nationality is of the person farming, because you are either doing it or not. "Effects in terms of community"? Who are the most toxic people? It isn't the Chinese that aren't bothering you at all. Who gives you problems in dungeons? in raids? Not the Chinese because they are not in there with you, and if they are, they just do it and emote. How about in open world? If you link a quest, chinese people will do it with you and they won't say diddlysquat. they just do it. I have bumped into random Chinese in the open world all. the. time. and had ZERO problems. Guess what, I bump into random guys from the other faction all the time too, and the fact that we can't communicate doesn't hinder our ability to either be dicks to each other or not. If population is the problem, a second server is the solution. If it's "the Chinese," then you are the problem.
Preventing an entire region from playing due to gold selling is a bandaid. There wouldn't be supply if there wasn't a demand. The language barrier is also weak. I have ran plenty of content with people who don't know a lick of english. the game isn't that difficult and has been around long enough for simple awareness to be the dividing factor. We're talking about a paid service you're able to play for free. Walk away from the computer, it's only a game.
A lot of people paid in donations, self included to play this game. Why do the native English speakers the game was geared towards to begin with have to be the ones to walk away from something they love, have spends thousands of hours into, and hundreds of dollars because the Chinese players decided to invade and make it unplayable? They even got awarded their very own server in Turtle, and want to refuse to go to it when a solution was offered. The problem is clearly them, inarguably, not everyone else.
He's right. There's still too many Chinese on Turtle WoW at least, even with 5-6 SEA servers up. I see empty chatboxes and whispers everywhere. It's a problem in BGs, dungeons etc. when there's always some CN there we can't communicate with. While the server is majority English speaking, CN is definitely the biggest sub-group.
Hamsterwheel, Sanctuary needs a good video from you! Its actually a great server (people actually help each other) but theres no good videos about it! The pop could be healthy with a few good reviews 🙏
No my friend , think (more ppl more fun) so the server mistblade - stormforge need it. Gold seller is aways in any "MMORPG" include "private servers". Btw chinese or spanish ppl "need" to speak english because is the global language for comunication. But the server IPBLOCK is worst than let throgh.
Turtle WoW did smart thing, they just created different server for them and they done like forced english in world chat so that you cant type in chinese i think,so yeah,Turtle busting it
Turtle WoW actually got a chinese server out and it helped a ton. Rarely ever run into a chinese player these days and there's barely any queues, but still 9k players online when I log in.

One of the reasons i stopped playing on Netherwing =/
Netherwing is like 90% chinese, its insane.
then play on Endless TBC, it just released and has 0 chinese.
Workin on 3.3.5a client with xmog feature and RDF? :O count me in i guess ^_^
@@Colosik yep thats endless
This thumbnail is great. Props!

The language barrier is a big problem and Chinese players are more likely to pay to win. I'm glad tho that lots of people are still enjoying the game.
Because theres no dumb americans/europeans to sell gold to.
thats literally why they play on eu/na servers. to bot and sell gold to stupid people.
Who the fuck cares, nobody want Chinese speaking ppl on EU servers. It ruins everything, especially if majority of them are selling gold
Or they could be typing messages on chinesse, but server would have to translate it for us into english in real time 😂
turtle wow opened a chinese server...but they dont wanna leave the eu server looks like theyre having fun destroying it
Absolutely agree with you, the issue is the same as the russians in csgo not speaking english and just ruining the whole experience for everyone including themsleves. They should be able to play the game of course, but without understanding the same language as everyone else, their IPs should be blacklisted.
just disabled voice chat and ur good
thats what i do. rofl
It’s a double standard to say we should ban Chinese players because of a language barrier how about learn Chinese or just don’t play.

Turtle is being warped. devs want cash from new china pop.
Let's be honest, nothing's stopping a Chinese server to be made, we don't have an obligation to mix completely different cultures, nor have to feel bad
Stormforge could affort to open an Asian only server…playerwise and financialwise. Im sick of always having „?“ in world chat or whispers.
Next IP ban players with retail accounts.

The Great Ham playing the masterrace makes me so happy.

Turtle recently opened 2 CN/SEA servers I think
Bing been Chilling bit too much
Seems to be a problem more with people who took the time to learn English as a second language. As a native anglophone I have no problem playing with Chinese or Spanish players as long as they put some effort into communicating.
And thats why we made Sanctuary. Vanilla as we know it - and NO CHINESE!!
It's now awesome.
turtle wow is still mostly chinese, most of the guilds you see are chinese
This just isn't true. Most of the players I've seen are Chinese. Leveling is insane due to these areas being flooded with them and they don't like to group.
While the situation has improved, there are still too many Chinese. Most of them we can't communicate with, their chat boxes are empty and the names immersion breaking.

At least you can understand some Spanish and its not that hard to grasp ( although aspect and aspecto for them are 2 totally different words for the with 0 possible connections for some reason )
In case of Chinese you can do nothing and they only know "hello-yes-no" as well.

Everlook is launching Everlook Asia
i dont think ip ban could do much, even a free vpn can bypass the thing. plus they can just create another accounts for free in private servers.
fun fact: chinese account, gold, or real money traders are lean toward pve servers, because none is capable to interupt their 24/7 farming activities ingame.
so yeah, while pvp servers have ganking problems. unfortunately pve servers have much worse problem like botting.
I'll stick with ChroimeCraft, it may have a lower population but it's got English speaking Guilds.
Gold selling is happening everywhere especially in eastern Europe middle east. The whole ni hao gold seller is a stereotype
a bit of a meme take.

Preventing an entire region from playing due to gold selling is a bandaid. There wouldn't be supply if there wasn't a demand. The language barrier is also weak.
