Mongolian death wurm, Nidhogg the dread bitter, the man eating worm of lambdon .... the dune worm isnt the only modern depection either there were tremors, like like from the zelda series, and those creepy worm things from the pit scene in kong skull island. Dune didn't make up the concept it is thousands of years old and there are literally hundreds of examples of "giant man eating worms" of various types throughout the scattered mythologies and legends of the world. Some of my favorite are the native American mythologies of the worm that carves the canyon.

Your point at 14:44 is so weak, almost like you didn't even bother to pay attention to the panel to see that the gorosseis were in their hybrid forms, I thought this was obvious by nusjuro still having his torso, and mars' wings being extremely small, and nothing compared to his full form. So ofcourse ju peter's silhouette would also look different.
I hate it when you say some good stuff, some actual plausible theory, and follow it up with obvious false things like this, it just throws me off.

      That's right.
Since he's the Godhead of Agriculture, and he turns a thing that lives in deserts, I bet Oda WAS planning for Ju Peter's ability because all Gorosei have a monster form that is the opposite of what they're supposed to represent:
-Saturn is Science and Defense, turns into an Ushi-Oni which is merciless and can only be hurt by magic and supernatural incantations
-Nusjuro is Finance, but becomes a barren skeletal animal
-Mars is Environment, but becomes a bird which appears in periods of famine and drought to cause blights
-Warcury is Justice but becomes a ferocious beast that preys on humans
Peter's transformation perfectly fits the theme of "completely opposite to what you're supposed to represent"

We've actually seen that the gorosei, despite not caring about human lives, aren't trying to kill as many as possible. Saturn ordered all marines to evacuate the island before the buster call started. He could've had them all stay and be killed but there would be no point to that. He certainly doesn't care about them but he's also not going for the maximum number of casualties. Same thing here with Ju Peter. He rescued the cipher pol agents AND the seraphim. The seraphim are strong, important, and expensive so the World Government would want to recover them. The agents were probably just a bonus. It's not worth sacrificing the seraphim just to kill some grunts.

We've actually been shown that the gorosei, despite not caring about human lives, don't actively try to cause as many casualties as possible. Saturn ordered the marines to evacuate before the buster call. He could've had them all stay and die but there is no reason to do that. Mars could've killed Lucci for failing but he felt him be. What's telling is that Mars said he can't watch out to avoid stepping on ants, meaning that he's not deliberately trying to kill but his actions may cause collateral damage and he wouldn't care.
As for Ju Peter, he rescued cipher pol agents AND the seraphim. The seraphim are too valuable to sacrifice just to kill some grunts.

17:07 that totally looks like a sandworm foreshadowing, none of the silhouette show exactly what they are but it shows the most defining feature and so is this silhouette, a circular face and body with a circular mouth that's totally a sandworm, maybe he added the teeth later but he had it at lest at June 4th planned to be a sandworm.
The other silhouette on the other hand where he comes down from the top side with hands is either something else or just his hybrid form because he doesn't have space for his full sandworm form.

From that alone Ju Peter would be responsible for the lion share of starvation, death, and suffering in the One Piece world. @@ReiseLukas fair point, it's not like Ju Peter could just immediately stop the Tribute without giving away the game. But he's certainly still been complicit in a way even beyond how Vegapunk has been complicit in the WG's crimes, (and that complicity was something which Vegapunk fully acknowledged was a wrongdoing and moral failure on his part), so if Vegapunk was guilty of THAT much then Ju Peter would still be culpable in a very drastic way regardless of whether he started cooperating with Dragon covertly after hundreds of years of willing inaction.
Like, the mere existence of the Royal Tribute is the single hugest driving factor for why anybody supports the Revolutionary Army in the first place. Same as in real life, common everyday people generally don't risk their lives to go upend their local government unless they're starving and can't feed their families. Especially like in pre-Revolution France, whose decadent Royal government was one of the biggest inspirations of the Celestial Dragons' culture.
I'm really not sure what his motivation could possibly be if he's the traitor and this theory ends up being true. I really hope he isn't just secretly a good guy. It would be wildly inconsistent, and I trust Oda not to just heel turn humanize somebody on that level of evil. There's a few other clues as to why Ju Peter will turn on Imu:
    1) His name: St. Shepard Ju Peter or St. Peter 1 of the 12 Apostles & the first pope (the leader of Christian world of humans not gods), Jesus called himself Son of Man to show he was human like his followers (the Gorosei don't refer to themselves as humans so another hint St. Ju Peter doesn't feel the same way). St. Peter is also said to be the "Keeper of the Gates of Heaven" letting humans into God's land.
    2) His title of God of Agriculture: Agriculture is about growing something small into something of value, compare to the other Gorosei Money, Power, Land & Science its a lot more about helping humans then the other 4.
    3) His Sandworm devil fruit could tie into Alabasta or a hint since Alabasta were the only one of the 20 families that didn't go to Mariejois, maybe a hint he's more aligned with humans like the Nefertari family.

Sorry Morj, but you are wrong with the sandworm origin.
Dune's sandworms are iconic but Oda got the inspiration for Ju Peter's power from cryptid, Mongolian Death Worm.
The Mongolian Death Worm is a mythical creature that is said to exist.

BUT HE IS NOT CALLED A MONGOLIAN DEATH WORM!
The one in One Piece is called a SANDWORM (サンドワーム), the same name in japanese as SANDWORM (サンドワーム) from Dune.

Morj: Silhouette Looks NUTHING like the final product
Yes, and Mars' Itsumade doesn't have a rooster's comb like the silhouette.
Ju Peter's looks close enough, a round end with a large mouth and eyes.

the sandworm point is better when you think about it being written in japanese in katakana (due to it being a foreign word) which makes his zoan form different in name from all other gorosei, it is also the only zoan among the gorosei that isnt a demon but a sacred being. Another point would be the fact he is named "Shepherd" and the "ju" part of his name uses a symbol that looks like a cross, which i would say is a clear reference to jesus, someone known for a sacrifice for humanity, so i think ju peter will sacrifice himself for the good guys.

There is a sand worm in Star Wars Return of the Jedi too called Sarlacc but there is a Dune movie from 1984 too.
Although it is likely he took inspiration from the recent movie but I wouldn’t put it past Oda to be a Dune fan, it is a very inspirational book series.

Ju Peter is the oldest Gorosie. This is also the arc where we discovered Bonnie's real age. Ju Peter is the youngest looking Gorosie to throw us off. I'm just noticing this but all the Gorosie has numbers on their pentagram. Saturn's #5 and if y'all go to chapter 1110 Mars #4. The oldest Gorosie is #1 Ju Peter who's been the most quiet of all the Gorosie. I know people think I'm crazy but he's been waiting 800 years for Joy Boy's return to betray Imu because of his loyalty to Lili Nefertiti of Alabasta. Ju Peter is a double agent. I think Oda made him a dune sandworm to show his connection to Alabasta, the only island we've seen full of sand. Ju Peter is selective of when he speaks or usually doesn't say anything at all, he was the only Gorosie showing compassion to the cypher pol agents in Egghead by saving them while the other Gorosie didn't care about them at all, not even Rob Lucci and Kaku. Ju Peter was the only Gorosie member who didn't talk or have a thought bubble in Egghead. When Shanks or (Shanks twin brother) went to speak to the Gorosie, Ju Peter was the only Gorosie member with his back turned when he entered the room. When we first see Imu on the throne, Ju Peter is the first one to speak, Ju Peter is the one who had the most knowledge of the Nika Fruit, Ju Peter was the first one to notice Sabo when he attacked them and Imu, Ju Peter was the only Gorosie sweating seeing Garling. Y'all don't have to believe but Oda is constantly showing Ju Peter as the odd one out in settle ways.

I really hate when people use their own lack of imagination to blame Oda, what was Ju Peter ability used in the throne room? A Big scream with a mouth as wide as the rest of his body, Morj, you being unable to see it is not Oda's responsibility...

Morj, you really need to take the anger & frustration out of your voice. It's not that deep. The first half of your analysis makes sense cause Ju Peter has been relatively silent this whole arc, but your sandworm argument is a huuuge reach.

Morj you uuh, you are aware that in that panel where the transformed Gorosei are silhouetted, Saturn is in front of Jupeter right? Like, his actual silhouette is not a big scary human face, it’s just covered by Saturn’s big-ass head. So it is still plausible that he was always a worm-like creature.

Look up the Mongolian Death Worm, said to live in the Gobi dessert. I don't know why so many TH-camrs are convinced Oda took the design from dune when all others are based off myths when an Asian mythical creature is right there.

  • @shoobusmawoobus

I think the evidence is less in the assumption of an ambiguous silhouette/potential last minute choice for the sandworm as it is in the fact that he's the only one that isn't a Yokai. All the other evidence about his lack of motivation is spot on though.

  • @palkinator

Lost me at the Dune thing. Oda pulls from countless religious and mythos across the entire world. The Mongolian Death Worm was first speculated in the 1920s. And yes, it specifically says "Sandworm" but MDWs usually reside in sand.
Aside from that last desperate grasp, I agree that if there were a traitor, it would probably be Ju Peter.

To add on to the 4/5 paralells between God-type characters, a theory has been gaining traction lately that Urouge used to be a fifth Priest of Enel, which was why the thumb was submerged in the white river on Upper Yard.
