That’s actually one of the coolest story beats from the movie. You go from the Autobots all huddled around Prime crying their eyes out with a lot of emotional gravitas in the scene. Then you go over to the Decepticons and see how they dump their wounded and dying out like trash, and even Megatron’s most loyal followers don’t hesitate to throw him out, then he’s completely forgotten about as they start fighting amongst themselves for the leadership. Good shit

Check out the score from the 1980s movie _The Breakfast Club_ as well. Totally 1980s feeling right there. It's hard to get that type of feeling from these shows and movies anymore.

I love the contrast in the two "funeral" tracks. The Autobot track bleeds sorrow, gravitas, and despair from beginning to end. Meanwhile the Decepticon track has like five seconds of doom and then immediately launches into 80s watercooler music, just business as usual.
What I can't figure out is how Starscream won the fight for leadership? Even if he did win, wouldn't Shockwave just blast Starscream and take control of the Decepticons the second Starscream announced "I am your new leader!!"?
A common theory is that Starscream was hiding in the corner the whole time and just waited until all the other Decepticons had beaten each other to a pulp.
Makes sense but since we didn't see Shockwave on the shuttle, he was on Cybertron so he could've still easily blasted Starscream unless he decided to let him have his little coronation first THEN blast him and take over in order to make Starscream look ridiculous.....

I mean they've been shown to be able to fly in space with no problems before. Also, to lessen the weight, couldn't Megatron and or Soundwave have transformed, thereby eliminated the weight of two transformers and allowing some more Decepticons to live? They've also been shown to weigh less in these forms, as Megatron can easily be held by others in his alt. mode while Soundwave can be picked up by tiny, much weaker humans in his.

Mckenzie .Latham But how can Astrotrain fly there all by himself? Better fuel efficiency? Regardless, they wouldn't have to fly the whole way there by themselves. Astrotrain could've gotten them halfway there, and the flyers could probably handle it from there. And even if none of this was possible, why not just drop some of them off on a moon or something where they can be picked up rather than the vacuum of space?
