If you want to know when to change your hub/wheel bearing, jack up your front end, spin the wheel by hand and place your other hand on the knuckle or cv shaft. If you feel heavy vibrations or hear any kind of grinding, the bearing is dry and getting closer to failure.

Man, my 2003 Z71 'Burb is parked since 2020. It started throwing a Check Engine Light, and that kills any chance of even starting an inspection here in Texas. And no inspection, no Tags. I was finally able to have a mechanic check the code, and it basically points to the sensor cluster on top of the gas tank. SO...gotta drop the tank and replace that whole sensor setup, then replace the tank...on a 4X4 ! Dealer wanted $1,300 back in 2020, and I'm unemployed for 11 years now, so that was a no go.
Now I just turned 60 in March, 4 days after my dad passed, so plenty of other distractions. Oh well, I'll get her back on the road "Legally" eventually I guess. But I originally bought it in 2008 for using as my camper for when I go hunting. Yeah, haven't been hunting either...

If you have a siphon pump, a floor Jack, and some basic tools you can do it in an afternoon. It’s not fun but it’s doable. I did the fuel pump on my 99 c1500 Burb on a hot Florida summer day in the dirt. Getting the tank out and in was the east part. Trying to get my cheap Chinese Ebay fuel pump to fit was another story. Ended up sending it back and bought a $300 pump from O’Reilly’s.

That bearing is dry. Yes, change both sides. CV axles too unless they are pretty new. You could have radiused the stud plate with a carbide on a die grinder to clear the other mounting position embossments. The plate is only to hold the studs from turning during R&R. It serves no functional purpose once installed. Good video.

2:58 the pump stops at $125 is not because your card, it's the pump's setting. From here, San Jose CA, Chevron stations, the limit used to be $150 before gas price took off, now is $175. Why I know this? Because My 94 Suburban K2500 has a 40 or 42gal tank, usually if I refuel at about 40% or less, it will stop before top off. I don't know if pay $200 at cashier will make it pump more than the limit.
I really love my Suburban. She's K2500, 454, 4L80E, towing package, can do anything a K2500 truck can do except 5th wheel towing and over size load. But as compensate, she can carry 12ft wood beam with tail gate close; and I can sleep very comfortable while camping; and I heard it doesn't need to enter weight station when towing heavy trailer.
Just this year, late Jan, I drive her from San Jose to New York, deliver a Toyota Tundra for a friend. The trailer weights about 4000lbs, Tundra is also about 4000lbs, so that's about 8000lbs. She just get the job done. And I even encountered the snow storm in Ohio, 8 inch deep snow, she just plow though like there is no snow, with regular tires that I use in San Jose. Just 4WD, no chains, no traction sand, despite I carried 2 sets of them. Before I actually start the delivery, many people suggested me to drive the Tundra there then fly back. Thank god I choose my Suburban, or I would probably end up in a ditch in Ohio because that Tundra is RWD with open diff.
About towing, I actually expected to encounter the swing, however it never happen, even in snow, some time the trailer is side drifting, she just didn't care at all, stay in her track like there is no trailer. She is rated to tow 10klb, but I think she is safe to tow 12k, maybe up to 14k, while now days a mid size dares to rate at 7k, half ton dares to rate at 10k.

There are powdered floor soaps that claim to be 100% biodegrable - It's white / orange and turns green when wet. A little bit of scrubbing with a stiff broom and allowing it to soak will clean your garage floor really well.
Gotta give you a 👊 for properly securing your loads for transport - as it is all too often we see others driving (even down the freeway) without even one piece of scrap rope holding in all their junk.
That ball joint hold-down bracket... 'could have'?... been shimmed on that one side with OEM bump-stop plate with some washers, but finding them with a small-enough O.D. would have been difficult, I imagine? The difference in tensile strength between 10.9 and 12.9 is about 180 psi - but as far as 'grade' is concerned - a 10.9 bolt is said to be similar to a 'grade 8' bolt.
Aaand... If it's *any* consolation whatsoever to you and/or viewers - The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban has a $50K+
starting price, which is slightly higher than average for a large SUV...The price rises to $75,300 for the range-topping High Country trim level. So (in my opinion) - sinking a few grand into a similarly sized and capable vehicle that is already in full, is a better investment.

I agree Jimmy, love my K2500 Suburban... I'm not sure about there in Tennessee but here in Nebraska that load of scrap wood would have filled your tank! Good stuff as always... I used Timken hubs when I did mine. I found DrShock's video really helpful... 2500 is a little different than a 1500.

I like suburbans a lot but never owned one. Still my Dodge Cummins is more useful to me in rural Idaho. If I could afford it I'd have a new Ford super duty 450 or 550 with a flatbed like my Dodge has

I feel your pain with gas prices. I have two Suburbans as well, a 2004 with the 5.3L and my pride and joy a 1996 2500 Suburban with the 7.4L 454 big block in it. My bank card stops at 100 bucks when filling up on gas with them and I have to put the handle back and start another transaction to finish filling my burans up completely and the 1996 Suburban has a 42 gallon tank and gets about 10 to 12 mpg, but I still love my Suburbans and won't be getting rid of them just because of stupid politics and policies in Washington that is now making it more expensive in gas prices to drive them. Matter of fact my suburban has a Lets Go Brandon Edison Suburban emblem on the back of them. 😁
Love the videos, need to see them more frequently.
