Bought my 1999 gmc yukon summer of ‘98… it has 350k+ miles on ‘er now and has been nearly flawless. Still running original engine and transmission and she purs like a kitten. Add in the fact that I trailer a 25’ boat and I have to agree that it’s the best vehicle ever made!

I’m still driving a 1997 Chevy Suburban K2500 that belonged to my father in law. I’ve had it 14 years since he passed and I know he’s smiling up there knowing it’s still on the road, still making family memories.

I use your videos to keep my 1995 Chevy Tahoe in top shape. My family bought it new in 1995 and I love driving it even though it's original. Feels great compared to new stuff and I can afford to fix anything on it and happily found plentiful part supplies out there. Thanks for your work in making these videos and have a Merry Christmas!

I love my 1992 GMC K1500 4 x 4 Suburban. I found it in 2014 still owned by the original owner and was able to finally buy it in 2017 when it had only 156, 000kms ( 96,000 miles ) and I primarily use it during our very harsh cold Western Canadian Winters. Suburbans are the most versatile vehicles ever made..

In 96 they upgraded the engine significantly with the vortec. I absolutely love 90’s and 2000’s GMC products. I have owned many and still do they are the easiest vehicles to work on the parts are everywhere and cheap to replace. They will easily go 250k-300k with normal maintenance on the same engine. This is a very nice looking suburban

I miss my 2002 Suburban 2500 8.1 L, may it rest in peace. I am sure i would still have it now if it wasn't totaled. I used it for family duty and adventure. I have 2013 Power Wagon now. It serves a lot of the same purpose and can do some amazing things off-road, but I do miss the enclosed protected cabin of the Burb. The Burb was so versatile and convenient. The newer Burbs just aren't the same. No comparison to my 02 2500.

My first was a '97 K1500 and I loved that truck. It was perfect for hauling kids, dogs, hunting and camping. I upgraded a couple years ago to a '99 K2500 7.4L (454) to pull my trailer a little easier. I can't imagine not having one. Thanks for sharing, maybe next time you'll catch a fish for us.

Great Video Jimmy. One can never go wrong with a suburban. My father had a square body 3/4 ton and endless memories were made on that rig. Now as a father I have a 2004 3/4 (took me 2 years of digging and looking for it until I found the one). Being able to carry 7 people max and tow a trailer never looked so good. Kept the 16" wheels and put 32" grabber tires on her. I LOVE THIS TRUCK!! She runs smooth, sounds great and I put 475 miles a week on her. I get 11.8 mpg currently. Might do an LS swap one day but no need at this time. I plan to continue to replace things at will it need and never drive anything else again. Grew up in the boat business so everyone had one. A lot of the suspension originally comes from the 1998 k3500 pickup I found. 75mph at 2400rpm; 11.8 mpg, not bad.

Merry Christmas! My 2003 Z71 suburban was the best I'd ever owned. Had it 8 years. Most reliable and lowest maintenance costs. I've had a 99 as well. Love the 350. My 2011 was nice but higher maintenance issues. The 2015 was a nightmare. Horrible engineering flaws and extremely high cost of repairs for items that shouldn't fail less than 80,000 miles. It's gone. I'm now driving a 2010 and so far it's been great. A little more maintenance than my 2003 but a very smooth ride and remote start has spoiled me on days like yesterday.-6 degrees

I used to own a 1996 Suburban K1500, and miss it terribly. At that point in my life, I had no choice but to sell it when the transmission failed. Now, though, I'm about to start searching for a second work vehicle for my company, and a Suburban is at the top of that list. I absolutely love what you've done with yours, and it's inspiration for me to buy another and build it into the rig I've always wanted, because I'm passionate about overlanding, myself, and having another Suburban would give me the ability to occasionally use it for weekend trips in addition to utilizing its capabilities as a tow vehicle for a company trailer going in to some rough roads and work spaces. As always, your content is amazing and I enjoy keeping up with your channel. Take care!

Mine is a '94 Chevy Suburban K2500. I got it from an old man.
454 TBI + 4L80E, can't remember the differential, only know 3000rpm at 80mph, Highway without trailer is around 12mpg, if cruse around 65mph, can be 13mpg.
I always feed it with the best gas I can find, which is Chevron or Shell's 91; and always change oil by myself with the best oil and filter I can find, which is Mobil 1.
It's my daily commute, but is also a hardworking work horse, heavy trailer long haul, one of the times was an 8000lb trailer coast to coast. And in future, it's gonna have more heavy long haul.
It's also my adventure rig, my first off-roading, first drift on sandy road, first drive in snow storm, climb to 9000 ft altitude, etc.
I crashed it unfortunately, but I find it seems that it is live, radiator stop leaking by itself, passenger door stop colliding with quarter panel. It heals by itself.
I will have another long towing, after which it's gonna be 200kmile. I am going to get its engine and transmission rebuild, to make it ready for next 200kmile.
Currently my most hated thing about this truck is its stupid computer for transmission. It doesn't allow me to step further than around 75% of throttle at 4th gear 65mph. If I dare to do that, it gonna change to 3rd and let the engine run at 3500rpm when 4000 is read line.

I have a 2004 1500 Suburban with the 5.3 and 4l60e 4x4 with 204k . I also have a 1996 K2500 Suburban with the 7.4 454 and the 4l80e 4x4 with 118k. I love both of my Suburban, I use the 2004 for road trips with the family and the 1996 for also going on fishing trips, camping or taking the family shooting out in the desert where I live in AZ. I take real good care of both with maintenance and keeping them clean. I am constantly being bugged by people on the streets or people driving through my neighborhood if my 1996 Suburban is for sale or if they can buy it from me and I always tell them heck no it's not for sale, this is why I keep it parked in the garage because of that reason and to keep it protected from the weather elements. It was my parents family vehicle they special ordered from GMC in 95 and I have family memories in this 96 from my parents and now with my own kids and wife. They are one of the best all-round vehicles around I think and are a perfect family rig from outdoor trips to road trips across the country to running around town or picking up the kids and their friends from school who always fight on who is going to sit in the very back seats. I love my Suburban and will bot get rid of them and hopefully I can pass them down to my kids to make their own memories in them. 😁

Do you have alot of play on your steering? Wondering if you do or did at some point how did you fix it

    • @1RoadGarage
      @1RoadGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I've never had a ton of play in the steering. I think mostly because the truck only has about 89k original miles. I do still have the original steering shaft with the rag joint but plan on swapping that out soon just because. I have rebuilt the entire front steering and suspension system recently. Check my channel for the recent videos on that.
