    Awesome review Bill thanks for taking the time to go over our new kit. Just a heads up on the rakes. Their actually not duplicates but they are very similar. Taken from Christina Palmers awesome designs they are in fact the quad ( 4 peaks) Cycloid and quad sinusoidal. They the Quint ( 5 peaks) Cycloid and Quint sinusoidal. The sinusoidal waves have an even sine type wave to them but the Cycloid peaks are more aggressive. It’s a very subtle difference but you can really feel it in the locks. Thanks again mate much appreciated 👍🏻

    I have many courses in many different subjects ranging from legal studies to psychology and sociology, been watching for a year and a half. Want to pick up the skill, but my current situation has it so I can not afford any decent pick kits. Inherited a debt. Made my tension wench out of a bent badge clip from a lanyard, and a pick by deforming a dentist pick used to clean teeth with. It's not the best setup, but ive used them to practice on random locks from my old house. Found my "tools" work really well with small mailbox locks my friend bought for me to try. Four tinny spool pins, not much feedback but im still learning. Thank you and lockpickinglawer for making these videos so easy to understand and follow while keeping them entertaining.

  • @PompeyKilla
    @PompeyKilla 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Between yourself and LPL, your videos have talked me into having a go.
    I'm going to buy a junk set of picks bundled with a load of clear locks, just so I can see how everything works and moves about. If I happen to enjoy playing around with them as much as I enjoy the videos, I've bookmarked this set as a first proper kit

      I recommend looking at lockpicktools.com and getting pro quality plain handled picks for $2 each. They have everything you need to get started, made with top quality materials, and the prices are crazy cheap for the quality.
      A great beginner set would be a couple short hooks, medium hook, and a hollow half-diamond for single-pin picks, a triple and quad peak Bogotá profile, a city rake, and a snake rake for rakes, then a longhorn tensioner set, and a set of 3 top of keyway flatbars would be all you need to pick almost anything for about $40 even with shipping.

Or even sharing what pick you used in a video or something... I know it could add some cost, but I'd say it's worth it. And YES to that 'chonky' ToK prybar!!

    Law Lock Tools make great stuff. Funny enough I use the LLT blanks in 19 thousands to make picks. The pick in this set that has the large curve I didn't know they made that but I made my own version. Actually a few different versions too and they work really well.
    This kit looks to meet the need of most pickers. Would be nice to have some slimmer versions in there too like 18, 19 or 20 thousands thick. Great value, great picks and great review.

    I have the Increment Pro set. Good stuff but way to heavy to carry around. Wouldn't really recommend for starters. Again, good picks but too heavy and too large (and too expensive if you're not certain this is your thing). However, I use that set as a lend set for aspiring lock pickers who wants to try the sport out. They are virtually indestructible and there are all sorts of picks - you can practice any technique you want. That said, this set looks awesome. With the tensioners and the the selection of picks (and the finish) this looks as the definite starter set. A bit pricey perhaps but there's no bullshit in this and you don't have to buy more stuff until you know what you need after getting some real experience. Excellent. Thanx for the review and for bringing this to my attention!
    I usually suggest buying the Dangerfield Praxis dual gauge set (requires finishing by you) or the Southord C2010 (requires buying extra pry bars). This set seems to be a much better starting point.

      @@UNcommonSenseAUS I think Peterson took exception to one or more of Bill's reviews on some of his "kits" and sent out an email and posted stuff on his website about Bill's "loyalties" lying elsewhere, etc. Sounded like a drunken rant. There was also some stuff about the LPL since he also reviewed some of Peterson's kits and said that there were unnecessary picks, to which Peterson also took offense......

    Hey Bill, are there any good budget starter sets you would recommend? I'm looking to learn, and I really don't have the funds to just blow on a good complete set. Just looking for something good to start learning on.

    Those ones he calls exact copies are not. Those are 4 different picks. Its the same 4 you get from TOOOL. You can see slight differences. Andy Law as confirmed they are 4 different picks.

      Maybe they were SUPPOSED to be different (and that is what I expected), but as you see in the video they aligned perfectly with each other. Either way, I am going to invest in one of these kits.

      Bosnianbill Thanks Bill for your review and show of support. The rakes are different mate trust me. It’s very subtle and it’s a nightmare for me to separate them all after tumbling. Try viewing them side on but not on top of each other. One has a smooth S type sine wave pattern and the other has a sharper W peak to it 👍🏻

    Cleveland 4 way locks?
    Would you be interested in playing with a couple of these? I have a padlock and a panel lock, with keys for each.
    They came from a bus fare box company for whom my dad worked in the mid '70s.

    @Bosnianbill how do you recover from a broken pick inside the keyway? If you break your pick during the attempt, what is the best way to remove anything inside as some of the pieces can be very small?

    • @bosnianbill
      @bosnianbill  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you can, pick up the lock and shake it. Hopefully the piece will fall out. If not, slide in your pick as far as you can, hold a magnet against it's handle, and slowly withdraw it. The piece MIGHT stick to it. Try using a broken key extractor, then a spiral extractor. If all of THAT fails, try to push the broken piece as far into the lock as you can - it MIGHT fall out the back and allow you to pick the lock. If none of that works there is one sure fire, 100% guaranteed, never-fail method but according to the LockSport code, I cannot tell you. Yes, I'm kidding...😀

    Were are living in a wonderful time to be involved as a hobbyists or a professional.
    More and more people are making tools for opening just about every kind of lock and there's an amazing assortment of pick shapes and sizes.
    The negative side is that people could be overwhelmed by it all and spend way more money than they really need to. Individual financial situations are certainly none of my business, and some people can afford it all.
    There's always been a running joke about the hpc 1,000 pick set. If it existed, people would buy it. Especially if the right person with influence told them too or gave it raving reviews as a good investment.
    I think if we put everyone's pick sets together, there might be 1,000 pick profiles. Maybe not yet...
    I truly believe that these picks and tools are overpriced by as much as 100% or more. I know buying a laser cutter, depending on the power, is expensive. Renting them is not and tumbling is fairly automated.
    They literally put 4x8 sheets, or whatever max size fits their laser cutter, and spit out thousands of these. 10's of thousands. It's best to run that laser 24/7 if possible.
    They just grab them and put them in a pouch and charge the maximum amount they can get away with.
    That's the honest truth. I know metal and time cost money, but these picks costs very little to make. It also requires no additional employee's. One or two people is all that's needed.
