My dealer told me that you can no longer order any 2022 X3 with the shadowline pacakge due to shortage. Do you know why that is since shadowline package is simply cosmetic?

@@weifengli8380 it’s likely because of COVID. There are still shortages on various types of things where I live so it’s likely COVID is the reason for lack of trim parts.

Nice review. As with other manufacturers, they really need to straighten out the chip, materials and options shortages in 2022. This is why the used vehicle market is so hot as well -- shortage of new models and incomplete models delivered.

How is the seat comfort?
@@carsoncunningham7993 I've only been on short trips so far (longest has been 2 hrs) and the seats are quite comfortable. And the thigh extensions help with comfort for tall people.
As a current m40i owner I wouldn't trade up. There are some nice upgrades but some trade offs I wouldnt make. I like my Sensatech Dash and fog lights are must on all my cars. I added an aftermarket wireless charger so that's not a big deal , but it seems like a step back to remove it. These are all things I havent heard anyone else point out so kudos to you guys. One other thing they removed was the rear levers to drop the back seats. I finally subscribed just because of this review.

I have a 2021. I prefer the LCI's interior, but the pre-LCI exterior. I don't care about the mild hybrid stuff. I don't think you can go wrong with a post-2020 model anyway.

I really like this facelift new ques of the 3 series the only thing bothering me are the taillights which aren’t that L shaped anymore

Nice review but I'll stick with my 2021 X3 M40i with wireless phone charging and Harmon Kardon sound. Love the speakers under the front seats. I cant believe you left out the fog lights were removed and even more importantly the Rear Seat flippers from the rear hatch! Now the all season tires are being deleted so only performance summer tires are available! I'll wait.
P.S. What does the new addition of a battery help with besides add weight?
My 2019 has fog lights, heads-up display, rear seat drop handles and ventilated seats with lumbar adjustment across the front seats.
Crazy to see what's being left out on some models.
honestly the 2019 model looks much better in my opinion, the only upside of the newer models is that its about 30 more horse power or so. another thing if someone could let me know did the newer version lose its pops from the exhaust?

Glad you enjoyed! The small battery is able to power all the extra stuff, like brakes, power steering and electronics during the times that the engine is powered down
I love everything about this car except for the taillights. I miss the L shaped taillights.
Hey here because I’m debating on purchasing a certified Pre Owned 22 BMW X3 M40 as my daily Drive ,Got couple of questions in my mind hopefully i get some answers.
Did you face any problems or issues with the car ? And how many miles you got on it so far ?
everyone talks about the fule savings and the start-stop instead of idle on a stop or red light but no one really talks about what that is doing to your starter and motor. how much do you really safe? idling for a minute or two and what is the long term wear on the motor i personally turn my off or change to the sport
There's quite a lot of "M" badging and styling cues for a not-full-M car. More so than in previous years, I think. Could have done something more unique to the M40i for the sake of both M40i and the M. Overall, though, definitely feels like a lot more "special" things in this LCI M40i than the 2021 one and BMW should sell a good number of these.

idk why bmw has stop start feature im pretty sure that feature damages the engine and transmission and electronics in long term. I dont see how that can outweigh the cons i would leave it off permanent if i can

GV70 is far better and more reliable.
@@Dkdid9183 We all know that the GV70 is more reliable, lol…but I think the M40i is a little sharper, a little quicker, a little more engaging, and it has a real exhaust note. You would just have to lease it or get rid of it before the warranty expires. On the other hand, I think the GV70 is more luxurious and has a much nicer interior.
I was cross shopping these two to lease, Genesis money factor and lease rates are crazy high where as bmw dealers are giving 6-7 percent off on their leases. The m40i is faster by default and you can easily tune it to be much faster and have a much better exhaust. The genesis has better interior and the better audio system, but I hated the gear shifter dial in it. Also, people will just see it as a Hyundai.. you may not want that if you are spending 70k on a car. A point on quality is that genesis has been recalling gv80s for various issues but overall it should have fewer issues than the BMW.
@@abh2188 I’ve also been cross shopping the two also…in California though, 2022 M40s seem to be more expensive than GV70s because people are buying the M40s before they even hit the lot or just days after they arrive on the lot as opposed to the GV70 where some dealers have over 20 Sport Prestige models.

Realy nice SUV guys, has good looks inside and out, plenty of V6 power with this 3.0 liter turbo and the mild hybrid system. Not really a fan of the LED taillight design, they look just ok to me. Rest of the design looks good with good proportions. Interior is ok, but also very quiet @51.9 decibels, i like that. Great thorough, detailed review as always with all the specs guy! Its why I watch your reviews more than any others. Keep up the great work!

Very good review. It's unfortunate the 30i, and to some extent the 40i, are losing options due to the COVID shortages, or just BMW decision. You used to be able to option out the 30i the same as the 40i but not for 2022. Options such as the Harman Kardon sound system, passenger lumbar support, digital key, Shadowline trim, Head-up display, parking assistance with 3D view, and SiriusXM radio aren't being offered and are being eliminated from currently ordered cars. Some of those option are being eliminated fro to 40i too. BMW is forcing you into the M40i unless you want to spend $50K+ on a 30i with less features than a $25k Toyota. It sucks. I'm going to wait a while and see if it gets any better.
So by choice I decided to give up my X3 for a X5 2022 M for a few reasons, space, leg room, more options etc...So what ticks me off is the fact with X5 you don't get that interior color option with the more expensive X5. Unless I missed something when I was building mines on the BMW website I seen all the colors except the red, even doubled checked before finalizing my PO with the dealership. With current issue in the car market I knew what I was giving up so the fog light, wireless charging, etc.... really not a big deal too me but like someone said all these automakers need to get this chip shortage, material shortages, etc... figured out because how much longer they going too keep using that excuse of covid? Fun fact the client advisor at BMW tried his best to sell me on the fact it is a good thing to trade in my X3, but little did he know I had this planned all along.
I am probably in the minority but I’m not a fan of the stop start. Is there an option to turn it off? As stated the “enhanced stop start” and mild hybrid don’t improve the gas mileage at all as it’s the same as previous.
yes. There's a button to shut it off.

Hey Car confections, I currently own a 2020 BMW G01 X3 m40i. I have the adaptive M suspension option. On the front center console, on my vehicle, there are the eco pro, comfort, sport and adaptive "button" options. I believe this 2022 X3 m40i LCI, includes the adaptive M suspension, as a standard option. I don't see the "adaptive" button on the center console now. Is that "mode" a selection somewhere? Is that a configured item in the idrive 7 settings, now, or other?
Hey there! Yes, the adaptive suspension is now standard. When you select the drive modes, you have sub drive mode selections inside of each of those plus individual options for the adaptive suspension
@@CarConfections I have a 2019 w/o adaptive. Is the adaptive suspension on the 2022 (and 2020) an actual different suspension w/ air suspension in the rear? Bumps are brutal on mine w/ Bridgestones

I don't like that a luxury car like BMW even offers leatherette in these models, it should just be leather. They are going to charge you for it, so why make it look cheap.

It was a very tough decision for me. I had deposits down on both the 2022 GV70 and the X3 M40i. I went with the BMW. In my opinion, I believe Genesis is putting the cart before the horse, at least here in Ontario, Canada. There are no actual Genesis dealerships yet or service centres, everything is run out of Hyundai. Hands down, BMW wins in the driving experience. Also, resale value was an issue for me too, as BMW has a bigger advantage here as well. Love your reviews Car Confections, keep up the good work!

600 watts for the HK audio system? Maybe that’s why the critical reviews. With 16 speakers, it should be close to 1k watts. The Ram 1500 with HK has 950 watts and will rip your face off. I would have thought BMW would be higher, but it is lower cost. I guess I just perceived it to be higher. They just need to put a B58 in the Grand Cherokee. HP that starts with a 2** is criminal.
The new X3 should roughly have a boot capacity of 19cu ft. May be 29 if you load it to the top.
Guess official figures aren’t measured that way ad loading to the top might affect visibility and even affect driving dynamics

We ordered ours w extended shadowline, but we'll see if it makes it here. Couple more weeks and it will be here. $64k OTD, and i live in CA. Tax tax tax and more tax. Vote no on Newsom! He needs to work private sector, or go live w auntie

The 48v hybrid system changed the exhaust note. It doesn't matter what mode you are in it doesn't pop like the previous model.

Yes I have 2020 model and the 2018-2019 model were a lot louder!! Apparently the exhaust is muted even more on 2021-2022 models :(. I spent a lot of money on aftermarket exhaust and downpipe so mine is louder than a 2018-2019 now. I don't really care about speed so don't have a tune but a nice sound just hits differently
