If it looks like a streaming movie, acts like a streaming movie, and the script is like a streaming movie…I think I’ll just wait until it’s out for streaming on Christmas. Granted, I was glad I gave “Violent Night” a shot in theaters but it had not only a charismatic star (David Harbour) but plenty of fun R rated action and a surprisingly cute relationship between Santa and Trudy. This just looks like a generic PG-13 Christmas action family film, but I’d love to be proven wrong. 🎅 EDIT: Just got back from watching “Red One”, and really enjoyed it! Krampus stole the show for me, and it has some great world building for future films if this franchise continues! 🎄
I thought this was an absolute mess in pretty much every way. The script is lazy, the performances are low effort, and the visuals are ugly. Definitely Christmas background noise, like you said. Glad you dug it a lot more than I did though, great review!
I attended an early screening last night thanks to Amazon Screenings, and it wasn't terrible, but it does have some good comedy, and some good actin scenes. If you want to watch it for how ridiculous it is, then go see it at an early matinee. And like this guy said, J.K. Simmons is great as Saint Nick, aka Red. (It's an Amazon movie produced by Dwayne Johnson - Seven Bucks Productions is his company, so there's that.)

Violent Night was peak!!! Santa being a reformed berserker was awesome AF
Red One (2024) is a fun enough action holiday movie and I give it a 7/10.
Same here, and I can guarantee it'll be on Amazon Prime by the end of the year. It is an Amazon Studios movie, so it's not terrible.

If i had any carry over cinemark passes in my account I'd still go and see this in the theater but Gladiator next week wins.
