    Since i am using the MEGA65, starting with the Nexys i was not able yet to really "brick" a machine. I was always able to recover the MEGA65 and update it to the latest versions.
    PS: small sidenote, on the Nexys you got the possibility to really flash the core into the FPGA or to boot/load it from the SDcard, but that's another story 😀
    Your video gives an excellent Explanation on how to work with the .COR files it really summarizes chapter 5. Thank you !

      Glad you liked it. I've not tried to copy the core to the Nexus but like you, run it from the SD card. I'm actually planning to work the Nexys this weekend, time permitting.

    I will unfortunately not be able to attend today. I need to pick up my daughter from dance classes at 06:00 PM here in Germany. But I am sure that will be a great video as always (yes! I'm serious!!)

    Finally on Monday the MEGA65 I’ve ordered last year will be delivered! I’m getting updated with your contents to be ready to fully enjoy it 😉

      Oh boy. And you have a ton of videos to catch up on. 😂 Hope you enjoy your MEGA65 as much as I do. For me, it was worth the wait. It really is one of those devices you have to spend time with to appreciate.

    You know my question:
    Hope to get good Rom that could run the "Sonic" in C64 mode.
    Of course porting the game to Mega65 mode will be a million$ project but that would be a historic milestone.

      I do wish someone would port it but will say, I'm looking forward to some of the games and software in the works. I'm still planning to download and try on the C64 Core (www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=78945)

      Outstanding! Welcome to the owner's club. I know you will enjoy it if you take the time to learn more about it functions and capabilities. I was fooling around with it just a few minutes ago and discovered something fun. Video soon!

      @@retroCombs I can't see time that you will publish video and thank you for your welcome! I already love it.
      I would like to have expansion for RGB 15Khz output and Datassette port :(

      It was a lot and a bunch of technical "stuff." I'm looking forward to the next two chapters. These videos are really allowing me to learn so much about the MEGA≡65. Thanks for joining us live, especially waking up at 2 a.m.!

    Has the MEGA65 always had a FPGA? This is the first video I have seen on the MEGA65 that has referenced using an FPGA. Prior to this video, what I recall was that the hardware used mostly chips similar to the Commadore64.

    • @retroCombs
      @retroCombs  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's always been an FPGA project all the way back to it's creation stating with a Nexys board and then the Dev Kit. I've referenced the FPGA probably in 80% of my MEGA65 videos and blog posts. I don't think there was ever a plan to use individual components.

      @@retroCombs My mistake, I was confusing it with the commander x16, which does not have a FPGA. This video sparked my interest because it uses an FPGA. I recently bought an FPGA for my Tempest Arcade cabinet because the original PCB board had failed.

      @nrnoble Ah, yes. The Commander X 16. Another fun retro recreation. One that is not in my collection. FPGAs are just amazing.

      Yes, the FPGA offers you many possibilities that you can't imagine. You have an 8-bit retro computer that can be modified/upgraded/improved... whatever you want. The Mega65 is already much better than the C65, but it still matches the original intent of the manufacturers back then.

    • @retroCombs
      @retroCombs  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @stefaneilers8449, agree 💯%. The ability to load cores easily is a highlight of this device.

    idk, but it seems my most fondest memories of the c64, was that I was able pick one up from multiple retail chain stores during the 80's. Though, it seems, whenever I attempt to order on the MEGA65 from online, there always seems there's a waiting list. However, on the bright side, since the base core is functionally replicating the 65CE02 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CSG_65CE02 from the original Commodore 65, I would have someone cleverly tweaked the core to enhance it's instruction set.

    • @retroCombs
      @retroCombs  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      And if you wait to order, your wait time expands. I think I waited a year for mine, but I'm always amazed at how fast time flies by. It's actually scary sometimes.
