I highly highly recommend going album by album backwards in their catalog. They've absolutely owned every sub genre they have played.
The lord of woe EP is my favorite of their catalog still as it's just absolutely relentlessly brutal.

Sick album! Contraband was released as a single after the album in 2021. I think your next reaction should be Greyview by Invent Animate. It's a great album with some of the most unique riffs I've heard and on the proggy metalcore side which I think you'll like a lot. Also came out in 2020 so another one to compare with the way it ends 😂

Fun fact about Make Them Suffer, they started as a deathcore band with a piano lady who did clean vocals after that they went in a little more metalcore ish sound and ever since they have been evolving. So first off they had a lady called Heather Menaglio, then Louisa Burton that she is the one that I know the most because she is on my favorite album by them (Old Souls) and then after is Booka Nile that was a member up until this album and now they appear to have a new female member yet to be announced.
Demo / Lord of Woe (eps) and Neverbloom are straight deathcore with some piano and its fucking heavy and dark.
Old Souls is like the weird mix of the band, it has some deathcore some metalcore but not as riffy as further in the catalog.
Worlds Apart is where they found that groove and those fucking riffs.
How To Survive they continue that metalcore thats super riffy and the drums are so nuts and creative but they injected a lot more Heavyness and darkness.
(also Lord of Woe/Neverbloom/Old Souls have like a lore thats weaved in and they always made the joke that someday they will release the official third part of the saga, because the ep is like a prequel I think from what I know)

Jumping in blind really doesnt make a good impression for make them suffer haha, booka (the female vocalist on this album) is often a bit disguised but you can hear her as backing vocals on more melodic parts.
And their music tends to be a bit of a grower, but once it gets you youre hooked. No other band like it like it as far as ive found.
Contraband is when they decided to use booka more on the foreground, but most just assumed that courtney was doing those cleans.
And now she has left the band so who knows where they would have gone if she was still in the bad, HOWEVER they got a really awesome new member called alex.
And there is no fucking way that you'll be able to hide her in a track. She got some hella sick screams and sweet cleans, excited to see where they'll take it!

Thank you for reacting Drew, but you jumped a bit! You must listen to the precious album, World Away, to understand how they came to this sound in this last album. This album, by all means is the happiest MTS album) Wolds Away is A MUST, anyone who listen to MTS will agree that album is gold. I even prefer it more than this one. If you enjoyed this one just a little bit, you're gonna love the previous album. Also, since Booka left the band, I wonder if their old keyboardist/vocalist will come back, or will they continue on without female vocals. I wouldn't call these guys metalcore since all their work except the last two albums is mainly deathcore. Nevertheless, please check out their previous album - you won't regret it! World Away has some of the best songs in the genre!

I have a hard time getting into this band for whatever reason, but man do I LOVE "Bones." That slow and simple riff is just so groovy, and I am a sucker for groove to a fault. The reference to the last track sounding more tiny and less bass than the After the burial track may have a bit to do with production but it certainly had a lot to do with the fact MTS has one guitarist and he uses a 6 string guitar where after the burial has 2 guitarists using 8 strings

In basically all their albums MTS have had a female vocalist that felt slightly out of place. Its one of the quirks of the band that you either like or don't. Sean has a huge presence in the music, and he need a counterpart that will "push back" and take their place. Their latest release "Doomswitch" has gotten the best reception (Sean's words, not mine) of all their releases probably because their new female vocalist brings her own BDE to the band. This band doesn't need a front and a back vocalist, the fronting needs to be shared to follow the "constantly in your face" of MTS.
    STRONGLY recommend checking out Doomswitch
