    I use a Bannerman mini topper topdresser. It's a manual push along one... currently with flat tyres! 😮 hard to push but does the job well.

    Hello there..ok..love the lawn toy/ top spreader... could it be ok to place over existing weeds to level?.. currently there is no grass..it's strictly weeds...did treat with round up but will have to reapply again.. wanting to place Zoysia grass sod eventually

  • @dchall8

    With respect to mowing, watering, and fertilizing, what did you do to prepare the Kentucky bluegrass before smothering it with sand? I don't think of KGB as being a plant that can withstand being covered up for any length of time.

    I want to do up the almost non-existent lawn in my rental but don't want to fork out a lot to lay all new grass. What grass would you recommend that I can grow from seed and is easy to maintain and doesn't need a lot of water to look lush?

    So how much does a job like that cost? I have a 15K-ish square foot yard that would benefit tremendously from this very thing, but it's too big to consider doing myself... but I am afraid of what it would cost to have done.

  • @tims728
    @tims728 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey bloke, hope all is well.
    So you're undertaking this task, how much topdress material do you order esp if you have low spots to manage? Do you do length x width x height then convert area to metre cubed? If so, what height do you work on? I imagine it would all be in metric and same unit eg centimetre or metre. As you say the grass shouldnt be smothered, leaf needs to poke out for photosynthesis.
    Keep up the good work!
    Cheers

    • @LawnTips
      @LawnTips  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate. Usually aim for 10mm of topdress. So aim to get 1m3/100m2

    Random question - what sort of stones is the driveway gravel? Ie. What am I looking to ask for at the local supplier?

    • @dchall8
      @dchall8 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure what you'd call them in Oz, but in the US I would ask for 3/4-inch chipped stone. Any stones you want to drive on should be chipped and not rounded. Rounded stones will never, ever, settle into an interlocked surface, so every time you drive in you're plowing stones in front of the tires. Stones with faceted sides can be vibrated into a solid surface. Here is a link to a page with a picture of 1-3-inch chipped stone. Shadow is the color of the stone.

    • @dchall8
      @dchall8 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check the tax ramifications first. In Texas, any structure on wheels is not subject to property tax, but your rules might be different. I've seen a farm trailer pulled up and touching an unfinished house. They turned it into a fancy porch with a cover and everything, but since it had wheels, no tax.

    I'd knock a fool out if I saw him dumping sand on top of the engine of any machinery I own - rental or not. What an amateur! If the bucket is wider than the spreader, like it is here, ya just go into the pile at an angle with the bucket and let any overflow happen at the front - never on top of an engine. That'd be the last time I would loan or rent anything to some gomer who treats equipment like that.
